I've been using "Super Glue" for years on my lead core rod... I simply pull back a couple of inches of the sheath, cut the core, insert my usualy mono line and glue up the overlap. I usually tack the point where the sheath ends, to hold the mono in position, allow it to dry for a minute or two, then, I saturate the two with glue... it has never failed me yet! Makes reeling in pretty much seemless through the rod guides and onto the reel. No tubes required. HH

Tell him you have decided to change your mind about selling the boat since Mr. Whiskers has met his demise... and you will be burying him in the boat as you are no longer in a position to take the financial hit of a proper burial service. HH PS... swedish meat balls are brutal!

The best tip I can give you for the area is to bring your camera! The lake in that area have been hit hard by acid rain... fishing opportunities are very limited... but the scenery up there is 2nd to none, so bring the camera, the hiking boots and have fun! If you have access to a boat, Baie Fine is the world's only freshwater fjord and a simply beautiful place to see. HH

Nice shot Wayne! And I see from the other pic, that you got Lloyd's good side! LMAO HH

I was fishing the pier at Goderich, many years ago, and yes, fishing for the Wiley River Hog, also known as carp! I was with some newbies so I was distracted for a minute and when I looked back, my rod was gone!!! Grabbed one of the newbies rods, tied on a big heavy spoon and started chuckin it and dragging bottom. Got the rod back and a little 5pd Carp still on the line... So as others have said... probably a carp, but you never know, it could have been a mutated Gobie! HH

Chance, when have facts actually had anything to do with a discussion around here! HH

Boy Dara, I gotta say that I'm pretty happy that you don't live next door to me! HH

I'm pretty sure that we can get a Px for this! HH

Pretty muc sums up my feelings on my fellow Torontonians!!!! Unfortunately, most of us are un-aware that we do not own our property! We think we do, however, should the city decide to do something with your property, you have very little recourse against them... you may "own" your house, but essentially, your "rent" your land from the Corporation that is the city. It's my understanding that existing house will have their parking situation grandfathered, by the city, meaning that only new homes will have to abide by this new by-law... and the city officials have indicated that they will only investigate/charge folks based on complaints received. I know Roy.... HH

Yah, I do remember Roy! Quite vividly at that. And I will accept that I wrote that and take my lumps, if you will... so, after having eaten a appetizer of crow for my dis-taste of that thread, I will however suggest that I do believe that what I said has merit, regarding holding large Pickereyes in that manner. There are many folks here who do not have experience and will copy what they see respected anglers do... that was the intent of my post... Can someone please pass the fish crisp... I prefer my crow to be battered! HH

Stoty, I know that you are not suggesting that folks track their lures a 60ft! But, some folks may not know that and as a "guide" on this board, you must take responsibility for what you write... so folks, if I may, let me clarify what Stoty is saying... you may mark fish from say 40 to as much as 90 ft, but hooking Pickereyes below 30ft of water is almost certainly a death sentence for the fish... Let's keep those bait above 30 ft, shall we!? I'd like to catch them next year as well. HH

I can hear the spines popping from here! HH

Hey Lew, Take a look, as some have mentioned, at buying a floater jacket and getting the bib pants separately. I have a Mustang Bomber jacket and Boy o Bouy bib pants... all were gotten from Cabella's... I use the jacket year round as my floatation and only use the pants during cold weather. You should be able to find pants that fit you. I really like the two piece system as it allows for free and easy movement and I don't find it cold in any way. According to the Mustang site, if memory doesn't fail me, the two piece system doesn't really limit the effectiveness of a one piece suit. HH

Monday morning bump! (For those who don't know, but might be interested!) HH

Will do Lloyd! Good to see that you got the group back together... should be fun! HH

You're too kind Joey! And no, I wouldn't call you a fool! At least not until we get dropped off back at Perfect Vue! Just a joke folks, just a joke! HH

I don't know Lew... all I can say is what was said to me. I was not asked how many people I needed a cottage for...I was told in no uncertain terms that there were no cottages available for that weekend... and I called at around 11:00am, yesterday. I'm wondering if there may be a "non drinker" who wouldn't mind picking up some drunken fools and driving us to Merlands so we can at least get some time together as a group... but I suspect that there aren't that many fools around! HH

That is indeed, very good news! I know first hand how much work is involved with helping kids like Tyler and I tip my hat to his parents for their dedication to their son! Thanks for posting this Beans! HH

Well, your at least partially right Phil, we really aren't that far, but we certainly are far enough away based on the volumes of BEER that are going to be consumed and knowing the group I'll be with, no one is going to volunteer to be the DD! RE the shirt... as a wise mod once said to me... "You know joe, not everyone could get away with wearing a shirt like that" HH

Well Brian, I would say based on my experience of yesterday, they are not off to a good start! I followed up with them this morning, trying to understand how I was refused a cottage, only to find out that both Joey and Lew were able to book, when I was refused hours earlier... After much appologizing for the "mix up" I'm still left scratching my head. So, we will have yet another dis-funtional GTG as again this year, we will not be together as a group. HH I hope the Quinte Fishing board group like beer!

Well Joey, you must have more magic than me, cause I called at around 11:00am today. A gentleman answered the phone and practically laughed at me when I inquired as to cottages available for the weekend of Nov. 19, 20 and 21st. Hmmmm... don't really know what to think of this?! HH
-
I called Merlands this morning, they say they are booked solid for the weekend of the 19th, 20th and 21st. NO COTTAGES AVAILABLE!!!! I have booked myself and Bitsmith into Perfect Vue for those dates. I believe that they have more cottages available... they can be reached at 613 354 3001. FishnSled, my cottage sleeps four, should you be able to get away! HH
