Naw, it'll still be good, all that imported beer in the LCBO is months old and it sells for a premium price! I've had beer on hand for a month or more with no issues...or are you just saying that going skunky is a good reason to drink it up now so your wife won't get mad at you for drinking it all up in a weekend lol

Just googled Victoria Day to figure out when it falls this year and found this. Victoria Day is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the Monday preceding May 25. It honours Queen Victoria's birthday. Victoria Day is also commonly called the May 2-4 weekend (as in May 24th) and it marks the unofficial start of the cottage season where cases of beer (as in 2-4 cases) are consumed by hard working Canadians. May 2-4 will be here before we know ! Better get a head start on stocking up!

Isn't that much the same as saying, "Wow that week vacation sure went fast! Glad I didn't take 2 weeks! It would go past twice as fast!"

Unfortunate answer to this is yes, it is true. I know a dealer who carried Lowe, they had to pick up Merc in order to continue to sell Lowe boats when they were bought out. He does not and did not want to represent Merc so therefore they are no longer a Lowe dealer. Your options are Mercury or Suzuki? Choose the one with the most readily available parts and repair shops. Then also consider resale value and ease of selling it down the road. Do some research on the value of each at 5 to 10 years of age right now and you will get an idea as to which is the better buy. Who is it that says they're " #1 on the water."

Does a speeding ticket in Pennsylvania effect us here
pikehunter replied to aniceguy's topic in General Discussion
It was, he knocked it down quite a bit. No kidding eh, radar works in the dark. It was a surprise (back then) to get nabbed by a rolling radar, shocking to see the lights start flashing in the pitch black then do a u turn and fly up behind me. I was waiting for a shot gun to greet me when I turned my head to the side window. Probably would have had it out and ready if he figured I had been a local boy and not a tourist driving an obvious rental car with Alamo flashed across the rear bumper and bar code stickers all over the windows. -

I believe that there are far more states that share info with Ontario than what has been mentioned here. Pay the ticket and suffer. Why have skeletons in your closet? I got one years ago on the Florida Turnpike back when the limit was 55. He clocked me doing 85 mph. Even back then it was a hefty ticket, however the cop looked at me and says, "You are going to pay this right?" I said yes, He knocked it down to 20 bucks and told me to enjoy my last couple of days in Florida. I went to the county courthouse the next morning and paid the ticket. He was a good ambasador for the state, in my opinion. Surprisingly he was driving a Mustang GT and clocked me as he was travelling in the other direction at night time in pitch black conditions. -
FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN! jUST GO TO THE GOVERNMENTS WEBSITE AND PRINT OFF THE APP! Get the requirements right from the horses mouth! Why even ask on here and listen to a bunch of heresay? ......with that said my wife, my son and I all got first time passports several years ago, and NO need for a doctor or a notary public to sign! Just signatures from those who have had one for five years and not a relative. But just check it out here http://www.ppt.gc.ca/index.aspx for the current facts and requirements. Best of luck on your international travels.

I don't know who this Morrisey nit wit is but I truly believe he owes the cast and the crew of Duck Dynasty an apology. -
New test ! I'm surprised at this, not all that long ago there were talks about how redundant. The etest was as most cars were passing. Guess this is the answer to that, make it more ridiculous!

I want to go over there with my window order book in hand, there's thousands of square feet of glass to replace! There's. A fortune to be made! Proof that rocks and glass really don't like each other. -
Any garage door experts out there? COMPLETELY NF
pikehunter replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
Good job. Now you found where the problem is you'll know where to start if it should act up again and you have a new found understanding of how these things work. Did you add anything to the 2x4 to secure it in place, Maybe an angle or another piece of 2x4? It may well happen again if you only tightened things up. I'd contact the guy who installed it and let him know that his attachment method to the ceiling or joist didn't work. -

Like Pylon said. I'm no espert on repairs or trouble shooting problems, I only sell doors and openers, but this is the advise I give people as to where to start at. This way it will at least allow you to know if it is a door prob or opener prob. Remember a GDO is not designed to overcome garage door issues. It's only there to assist the spring(s) with lifting and closing. -
You can do better. There is a trailer dealer in Waterloo? Guelph? Forget exactly where, but they advertise occasionally on kijiji and they offfer galvanized trailers and some with sides at better prices the H.D. But if you are planning on buying with a H.D c.card to take advantage of 6 months no interest or 10% off or whatever the deal is this month then H.D is a decent option. Me, I'd rether buy from a dealer, even though I work for the big box. I think this may be the place. They have a galvaized 5x7, folds out to 8' 4", for $975. It's al lot better looking than the one at Home Depot.. http://www.ontariotrailer.com/

Took it in this morning, the bill for installing a new throttle body, just shy of $900, tax in. Total came in at around $1650. I was also told to expect it not to run that great until I put as much as 1000 kms on the clock as the computer was reset? Yes the old cars did have their share of troubles and more frequently required tune ups etc. But at least you could easily change points, condenser, rotor, cap and plugs but yes not very reliable. I can remember my 67 Acadian. The distributor cap was split in two, plug electrodes were burned away to a thread but you could turn the key, even on a rainy day and it would fire up! Amazing! I did change all of these items soon after buying it. We changed a clutch disk and plate in a 66 GTO in my parents driveway...In the dark. I've even changed a water pump on a 68 dodge and a heater core on a 71 ford I once had. All this and more was years ago. With today's cars, forget it! I open the hood with good intentions and usually through my hands up discouraged!

The best way Lew, if I could I would. Save a lot of hastles, but I have also heard the occasional lemon story in regards to all makes of cars. Some new ones have had more time in the shop then on the road, I know warranty looks after it but still a hastle fot those not so lucky folks. I am amazed at what repair costs amount to and the fact things are unrepairable anymore. I think the only way to help is to consider the total cash outlay for a replacement for the '05 Ford with a new Taurus, Somewhere between $45000 and $58000 depending on model and options so opening up the piggy bank to spend $1400 or so on repairs makes it a little easier I supose, just a little easier, not really easy but just a little gentler. But it still bites!

Now that would have been an entertaining catch! Can you imagine taking that back with you. "Honey, can you clean todays catch while I go get a beer!" Looks like you had a good time. Thanks for sharing.

So the Ford 500 has a throttle body problem. Since the car came out in 2005 till it was replaced by the Taurus 2008 there has been many internet documented issues with carbom build up and failing electronic throttle body assemblies. I have cleaned it twice with limited success and also cleand the maff sensor once. Ford has recently admitted there is a problem and I received a notice to take it in for a cleaning and a computer reset at no charge. So I'm there anyway and have the oil changed. They tell me (I already knew this) the front right lower ball joint is shot, the rear brake pads are close to the end of their life and not only that but the throttle body is history as the electric connector is cracked. Water/moisture has entered into it and caused problems besides carbon issues. So total estimated repair cost is about 2 grand!!!! So, I tell him the pads no prob, I can change them to save some money, the ball jont they can do it and lets try a used throttle body at $250 instead of $700 for a new one. Oh yeah...the ball joint cannot be replaced only. The entire control arm is a part of the deal, part cost alone is $377 and no way around it as there are no after market parts out there (this I also knew about) and the throttle body is also only available through the Ford dealer. And not only that the transmission roll resistor mount I replaced last year is also only available through Ford! Price here in Canada was $419, I bought it in the States for $173 new from a Ford dealer! But the control arm and throttle body U.S price is much closer to the Canadian price when compared, can't figure that one out....cars, so confusing and every model year newer they get more costly to repair! So the used Thrt body arrives from Ohio, take the car back in. It doesn't work. Car won't run with it, the original goes back on. The used one is being sent back and they located another used one in Quebec. Service guy is leary about trying another one. Says you need a new one...about 700 bucks. I say hold off, let me consider this. I price a new one in the States on the internet and by a phone call to Baldo Ford in Niagara Falls NY. Their price, $633.22. Not worth it I decide, call the dealer back in Burlington and they are doing it in this morning. I can remember when this type of crap was expected if you had bought an imported car, not a Ford or a Chev!! There was always plenty of aftermarket parts and you didn't have to replace half a front end for the sake of a ball joint! Or an entire arm when a bushing fails, or the entire throttle body and electronics if a carb konked out on you. NOW I KNOW WHAT FORD AND GM MEANS WHEN THEY SAY "IT"S A WORLD CAR" It means we gonna screw ya boy when ya gotta fix it! Dear Lord....is there any way I can have my old 1965 Plymuth Fury with a 318 in it back again? Please, I'll do just about anything! It was so simple, so easy and so cheap to fix, and today it would be worth a mint! Oh yeah....the oil change, ball joint/control arm, labour and 4 wheel alignment cost $753 with tax! Now another 700 plus!

Well I awoke at 2 A:M. The world looks like it's still here, at least Hamilton is. Guess I'll be running around all day tomorrow, I'll have lots to do. After maxing out all my credit cards for the past 2 weeks in anticipation of the "Big Mayan Event" I will now have to return everything I bought 'cause I haven't the money to pay for it all! Biggest problem will be returning the New Dodge Viper I picked up last week. Think the dealer will take it back? I think they may give me a little bit of trouble.

DAMN ! Now I want to buy a bag of cookies...maybe not such a bad idea. Better than listening to the doomsday warriors.

Is it worth it to own a motor boat?
pikehunter replied to sleepjigging's topic in General Discussion
Sooooo true! Even though I was feeling remorse as I watched my last much beloved boat, motor and trailer roll away behind someone else's truck I almost shed a few tears and felt like I should be waving good bye to a friend going off to war but my emotions soon turned to glee! Owning can be a hastle. The cost, crowded boat ramps, ignorant boaters, maintenance, storage....even a small 6hp can be a p.i.t.a because anything, doesn't matter what it is breaks, it is a bother. If you can use it often and get the use out of it that it was intended for then it can be a very worthwhile. If you have rotating days off work then launching and fishing during the week in almost deserted waters is a charm. Weekends, long weekends in particular are a waste of time in my opinion. If you have a buddy or a relative that takes you along in his boat then go for it! Don't even give ownership another thought! Be generous with him. Pay for the gas and oil, pay for launching, buy lunch, provide the drinks. If he refuses compensation still be generous, break open the piggy bank and give him some usefull gifts anything would be appreciated in the long run! Open up the wallet and be giving! It is much better than ownership and cheaper too! The worst that can happen from this is an invite the next time. Happy fishing. -
An amazing catch. Congratulations to your son. Nice to see that it ended up on the end of his line and not in the hold of a gillnetter.

Air pump and keep cool, not a problem this time of year but in the summer yes. Also learned not to dump them into a square pail. Brought a buch of emeralds home one time after a day fishing and decided to put them into a larger pail than the minnow bucket. It was a red plastic pail that milkbones had come in. Soon as they hit the water it was a race around the bucket and they kept running themselves into the corners. In minutes they had all died.

OK then, guess one can be wittier than I in the early morning hours. That reminds me not too many years ago Canadian regular gas was rated at 89 octane while in the States it was rated at 87. Back then the car I had would ping like crazy on Yanky gas but fine on Canadian gas. Now both are now rated at 87. Ethanol the reason? Or did the Canuck companies figure out they could perhaps make a higher profit margin by lowering the octane to 87? Or maybe, it was because they took lead out of gas? Questions questions questions....it is all confusing
