    Hello

Welcome Gawal, we all contribute in our own way. Pics are nice too....
  2. That's wonderful Rich. They all have a special place in our hearts. One never takes the place of another, they just add to the richness of our lives. I have one buddy, Benson, who is in his twilight years and one, Chloe, who is just a baby. Knowing when to say goodbye and sometimes even when to say hello is difficult. Reaching down deep to help a friend in need shows great character.
  3. Thanks for sharing a great tribute and lifelong memories. John..
  4. So sorry Rich, I remember exchanging e-mails when she had the surgery.
  5. damn ugly works for me........
  6. No kidding Lew.....my grandson plays for a Burlington team and some of the kids (7 & 8 year olds) are playing with $150+ sticks that their Dad's cheerfully cut down...
  7. You forgot the anchovies (just to make this a fishing post) and never, ever cut the lettuce, tear it.........
  8. Strubb's just haven't been the same since they moved out of the rat infested hovel in Dundas douG. Now they use, would you believe plastic, barrels! My pickle of choice is now Moishes, of good 'ol Montreal fame... Glen, you need to come north more often Bud. You ain't Canadian yet...........
  9. Hey Radnine, welcome aboard. Lots of great people here. From your comments you must be a Brit? Nice boat by the way. Someone will come up with some info on the maps. John
  10. What he said.............
  11. Vernon also gives you access to Peninsula Lake and Fairy Lake. Good fishing in all 3 lakes.
  12. A little late now (maybe) someone is gonna go to jail...........
  13. Rick, it is a profession where there are so many "fly by night" operators. All you need is a flashlight and an extension ladder. May I suggest that one of the more reputable is Carson Dunlop. They are probably $100 or so premium. The detail in their report is worth the money. We used them for our most recent home purchase and it was a 3 1/2 or 4 hour process that was not only a well organized but very logical process. I have a 4" binder that covers every aspect of the inspection.
  14. Si, Si.......Spanish for goalies JF..
  15. Watchin' it now as we speak Joe...Sporting Breeds tomorrow night
  16. Sound words Brian but do they have the cojones?
  17. I threw up in my mouth a little.......
  18. Tiller!
  19. Hi Jamie, It's really a matter of being in the right place when they come in. Most stores, (Best Buy, Future Shop, Zellers, WalMart and even Shoppers Drug Mart) have had them recently. Depending on the size of the store they are receiving 10-50 a week and sell out within hours once the word gets out. I bought one at Best Buy recently. I would spend some time on the phone and you may just get lucky. You can of course buy one on line for a premium. John
  20. Hey Brian, I really think that anyone one that team that is movable (ie., doesn't have a no trade clause) will be available. Are you thinking of Pogge as a starter? Raycroft has had enough opportunities.. I could be wrong but I don't think that last place finish guarantees first overall pick....
  21. What it actually said is that he landed fish 3 times after his quota was exceeded. Having said that a $6500 fine is an overhead to him. 2300# of walleye will net him much more than the fine levied therefore there is nothing to deter him from doing it again and again.
  22. Now ya talkin' Wayne!
  23. We "more mature" guys need to stick together Lew. I agree 100%. It's the hootin' 'n hollerin' that gets to me too....
  24. Our thoughts are with you Mike. I have been there twice so I understand very well. Spend as much time together as you can..

    Rant NF

To be honest, I avoid the liquor store, the grocery store and Canadian Tire at prime canvasing hours. Don't get me wrong I contribute what I can to my charities of choice, but out and out begging I have a problem with. My kids are grown and gone and we now "contibute" to our grandkids sports funds etc., but, for many years we were involved in competitive soccer for both my daughter and my son. We raised funds for tournaments, bags, tracksuits etc by running bingo's in smoke choked halls from midnight Saturday until 4.00am Sunday. I do buy apples from cub scouts and cookies from girl guides and I buy a $10 poppy every November. Last year I was fed up of not only the store entrance brigade, but the constant telephone and door to door canvasing. I decided to keep track of what I ran into day to day. It is February 4th and I have already had 8 door to door and over a dozen on the phone. As it's still cold outside, the store entrances are not filled with them as yet, just give it a few weeks.......
