  1. Verdict - 10 years minus time served plus 12 year driving ban..

    Intro

    Welcome Tom, nice intro!
  3. I was under the impression that the crown was asking for 10 years and his council was asking for 5?
  4. Had one of these in the late 60's /early 70's unfortunately it disappeared when I moved from the UK to Canada. Probably the best steel of any knife I have owned. Handles were a little slippy when they got coated in slime...
  5. All got to do with US trade embargo being lifted...
  6. That's why we are doing Nova Scotia and PEI this year and Nfld next..
  7. On these threads you reap what you sow Cliff. Over the years you have offered great advice and gone out of your way to help so many. Hope that you and Sue have a great trip we will compare notes when we return Mid Sept....
  8. Cliff accommodation will probably run $100 to $150 a night depending on what you choose... not sure 100% on Newfoundland prices but Barbara and I are paying average $140 a night for B&B in Nova Scotia and PEI in early Sept. Off season rates don't really start till October. We are still deciding whether to drive or fly. Flights and rental car are about the same as gas and additional nights accommodation to drive. I understand ferry cost is expensive so may be another reason to fly?
  9. The old (40 +) Finnish and Norwegian knives were excellent. The last one I had finally went to knife heaven about 8 years ago. Blade was so thin and narrow that it finally snapped on me..looked more like a skinny overly flexible boning knife towards the end...
  10. Google is your friend...
  11. We are already changing lots back to all season...it's not the air temps that kill winter tires it's the temp of the pavement. Unless your policy has specific clauses I'm not sure how they can deny a claim? Having said that March 31- April 15 is typical..
  12. I can vouch for Arts craftsmanship and materials. Beauty work....a few swipes with a steel and it is good to go. I am learning how to refinish the edge when it is needed (an art in itself)...:-)
  13. LOL....and you think that our current "serious" political "leaders" are sound fiscal managers???? We have a provincial "leader" who is turning Ontario into a fiscal third world country and a Federal "leader" who is.......well words fail me without some adjectives I would rather not use....
  14. But we didn't! O'Leary had the cojones to...........just sayin'. BTW who really cares what he is worth? Has little to do with this issue......
  15. Yup would much rather have an O'Leary 'clown" ....as Bill says he is right!
  16. Quite frankly, doesn't matter a hill of beans to me either!
  17. So I can only assume that when you call O'Leary the names you do that you agree with Ms. Wynne's fiscal policies and the fact that successive Liberal governments have created a debt in Ontario that your children will still be paying in their retirement years! Assuming of course they don't continue spending like drunken sailors then just substitute your grandchildren! Similarly, our newly appointed Federal government is off to a cracking start, hopefully we can find some clause somewhere that enables us to impeach for incompetence before we spend ourselves into obscurity!
  18. The great thing about this forum is that it is what it is. A bunch of like minded guys and gals who not only enjoy sharing a common interest but also have interests outside of the fishing world. Some of us belong to many forums, some strictly fishing where you don't dare post anything other than the catch of the day!. We have debated this topic ad nauseum and the vast majority of members, old and new also like it how it is. Some choose to share more of the non fishing events in their lives some do not. The Admins do a great job of pulling in the reins from time to time when we get out of line, but one of the great things is that we are somewhat self policing.....those that come here to stir the pot for poops and giggles don't last long.. I too have been around almost from the start and don't get on as much as I would like as I am currently working 12-14 hour days building a business.......BUT it's what this community is that keeps me coming back.
  19. No such thing as a free phone. You pay for it in your plan
  20. We are pretty sure that we are going to fly and take two weeks.
  21. Thanks appreciate the info..
  22. Of course the other option is to take an RV out there? Although I have heard Cape Breton can be an issue?
  23. Thanks so much guys! I appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Think we are going to do two weeks but still haven't decided whether to fly or drive...
  24. Thanks so much Peter I will be in touch closer to the date!
