  1. 47 on Upper Buckhorn yesterday...surprised by presence of healthy weeds...couldn't seem to find any musky though.
  2. Stockbroker's take your money and their experience and turrn it into their money and your experience.
  3. The Curado E is great bang for the buck considering most retailers are blowing them out making room for the new models. Look through some of the old posts on learning to use one. Good luck
  4. Who did Saric use as a guide during his recent stay at Scotsman Point on Upper Buckhorn?
  5. Interesting timing. I was fishing Sat evening and I hadn't turned on the light yet but could no longer see anything in the water. I carelessly pulled up midway through my figure 8 and all a sudden a huge tail splash and there she was, gone! It scared the living you-know-what out of me. The light went on right after that. If musky will follow in the propwash for miles at a time I can't see a light bothering them.
  6. I have brought in a couple of boats and a pair of sea doos and found this site to helpful: http://boating.ncf.ca/buy-usa.html You can start with the link below when searching for a boat: www.boattrader.com But what I found most successful was to literally google the model(s) you are looking to buy. Once you are serious about a particular boat ask for lots of photos. If the owner took care of it they will photograph every inch of it for you. This will also go a long way in terms of trust and weeding out scams. Good luck and feel free to pm me if you have other questions I might be able to help with.
  7. I suggest contacting Bayport Marina in Midland or another of the larger marinas in the area. I suspect they have more experience than most and can offer advice on all your variables. It sounds like a great trip but perhaps one that would be more enjoyable mid summer. Good luck.
  8. thanks, I will bookmark this thread...I did find one after a little googling but it was late and I literally caught the end of the jones/rampage fight. I came in at "and it's over"...lol
  9. ...anybody have a link that works?
  10. Great info and exactly the kind of stuff I need. Hopefully I won't only be dragging a tube on a ski rope all weekend Thanks again.
  11. Thanks for the tips Green. No worries on the parasites, I am strictly catch 'n release. Will likely spend more time pulling a tube than fishing line and am hoping I don't run aground on any unmarked shoals.
  12. The family is heading up to Belwood soon and I have very limited experience on the lake. Having been there once in a rented tinner from the conservation park I was given a hand drawn map that may as well have been created by a 3 year old. Does anybody have any experience on the water there? Is there such a thing as a nautical chart for the lake? Any info regarding boating or fishing is welcome. Thanks Rick
  13. Does the Frabill Power Stow have the option of the "tennis bag" and was it included in that price? After losing a couple of musky at the boat this summer I am going to bite the bullet and pick up a monster net. Irishfield, when did you pick your's up from JB's?
  14. I have a Revo Toro Winch 60 and like many have said, it is great for big double bladed bucktails. I believe it was also mentioned that you can't 'burn' them in with this reel of which I agree (you can, but there are plenty of better reels for this). I have mine mounted on a sling blade and to be honest, it is not needed with this rod. If I only had one muskie reel/set up it would be the Calcutte 400TE on a XH rod. If you mount your new reel on the rod you mentioned, you will absolutely love it. The lighter the action on the rod the bigger the difference the winch makes. Bringing in a double ten on a mh rod all day without a winch will wear you out. Be sure to report back on how you like it.
  15. Limit walleye, at least 1 muskie in the boat and a follow or two. Since everybody seems to think you want their opinion, I will join the party and add mine as well. I am never one for reinventing the wheel. My guess is you will find your answer much quicker if you actually phoned a few guides working different waters than you plan to work. According to this thread all guides are virtual Dale Carnegie's and would tell you exactly what you want to know. Good luck Rick
  16. Put a 190,000 km's on an '03 Envoy in 8 years and loved it. Other than regular maintenance, never had it serviced....except for the catalytic converter in '07...towing back a buddies boat bought in 'bama we were about the 3rd vehicle over a deer around Toledo. By Woodstock the truck pretty much died. Called the GM dealer in Woodstock, they came picked up the truck, then the boat, fixed it in a couple of hours and had us on our way again - truly fantastic service. Although they asked rather sheepishly why there were some sort of 'body parts' pulled from the catalytic converter so we explained the deer thing. By the way, covered under warranty! If the non-XL had the 3rd row I would have definitely bought another one. Great tow vehicle although definitely not known for good mileage. Decided to buy a new-to-me Yukon for the 3rd row and towing capacity....what a great tow vehicle but again, gas mileage not great. Tows my boat with ease which is around 3500lbs. Have driven nothing but GM vehicles for over 20 years and never had a major problem and rarely a minor one.
  17. I have launched for free at the marina at the mouth of 16 mile creek in 'downtown' Oakville but something tells me I got a way with it as opposed to it being the norm. Has anybody else regularly used the launch on the west side of the creek down the hill from Lakeshore?
  18. Scarier than a PC majority... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/ndp-candidate-takes-mid-campaign-vacation-in-vegas/article1999879/
  19. For those with children old enough to vote, review what happens to their eventual inheritance under each possible outcome. That should clear up any confusion on which party gets their vote.
  20. X2 on "THE WORLD IS A BETTER PLACE TONIGHT!"
  21. I was in 241. Was 4 rows from the floor in Montreal when GSP won back the belt from Serra and got a sore neck from watching the giant screens overhead. We learned then 2nd level is better than 1st...and you thought the washroom line ups were bad on level 2, imagine below. Nice send off for Couture. I think Hominick earned himself a rematch - the guy is all heart. GSP was GSP. Boring yes, but if you're Shields and you want the belt you have to take some chances. Challengers have nothing to lose whereas champions have everything to lose. You should see more chances taken by the challengers. With GSP, opponents seem scared (and have every right to be IMO) but I guess that is in large part because GSP is just that good. As loud as it was at the Rogers Centre, I remember the Bell Centre as truly deafening for the GSP/Serra fight. All in all, worth the price of admission except for the $10.25/tall boy of Keith's
  22. Stay tuned to the website if you have a wifi connection...watched live streaming on the web for one of the recent PPV's and the link was posted on here I believe. Would love to help at the time but I will be at the Rogers Centre during the fight
  23. Call the guys at JB's...best Musky selection around. Was there week before the Odyssey (they weren't at the Odyssey, had committed to another show for same day) and couldn't believe the stock. Didn't see one at the time but if you are going to find one, they will lead you to it. Good luck.
  24. I like the idea of a week long camp as most summer camps are a week at a time and are utilized as a daycare replacement for many parents. Like any specific sport camp, many different activities are necessary. Most hockey camps have plenty of other activities since the kids can only be on the ice for so long each day. Logistically, it could probably be considered a multi sport camp once your final schedule comes together. Be sure to update the thread with your progress. If you ever get to the stage of handling kids with food allergies, my interest would spike ;-) Good luck.
