  1. I can almost garuntee that if you are fishing abobe the dunnville dam towards york and caledonia that it is mooneye that are taking the flies. I have been down a few times and some gentlemen that were fly fishing were catching tons of them, said they go down there often as his brother was just learning.
  2. Congrats on your PB.
  3. Nice work man. Those are some nice Pike and looks like you got tons. Hopefully you got a picture with one for the tournament.
  4. A friend of mine used the tranx while out with some reps and said that its an amazing reel. Can cast farther then any reel hes seen before. Also said it felt nice and wasn't uncomfortable.
  5. Looks like a great day out on the water guys. Gotta love when the lake looks like that. Nice Laker and a nice coho for G. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Congrats to you, your wife and son. That is awesome.
  7. Nice work. Those are some nice Lakers you got.
  8. I agree lets see the video.
  9. Drop Shot is just as productive in the mid summer as it is in cooler waters.
  10. I use to intsal pools for a long time. There is bylaws in lots of areas about that so check into it. I wouldn't suggest it though. When we put a hottub on a deck it had to be reinforced and that won't be near the waeight of a 10' pool. You would also need to put a floor underneath so that the deck doesn't tear the liner.
  11. Man those look awesome. Thanks for rubbin it in lol.
  12. Are you forgeting about the Jays and the Raptors. Lately they have been a better sport team to watch then the leafs lol.
  13. My grandfather that got me into fishing years ago has a bunch of older rods. That was what I was saying when I said that things have improved over the years. I wasn't saying the method has changed. Just the equipment.
  14. I didn't realize you had the swivel hooks and so on back then. Plus all the bait like they have now for drop shottin my bad. I guess the rods and that were as good back then as now. Also I did say the method wasn't usefull back then. It has just improved over the years.
  15. Awesome report Rick. That sounds like an amazing day out. Glad to see you got those beast to.
  16. Way to go buddy. That's a beauty. Gotta love getting that king for the first.
  17. I didn't say it was only a bass angler thing. My grandfather also taught me to fish using the drop shot method for perch. That being said alot has changed sonce you started fishing all those years ago. I just said the method I use for bass.
  18. Another awesome report Simon.
  19. Drop shot is fine with a baitcasting reel. As long as the rod is sensitive enough you shouldn't have a problem. Paul Drop shot is my main method of fishing bass. Get some VMC drop shot hooks they have two swivels on the hook cut the smallest one off and tie to that. As for line 10# braid and for bass I use 6# flouro leader. Any type of weight will work but that have specail drop shot weights that are good for switching the depth of the hook with out re-tying. PM me and I will help ya with anything you need as for the baitcaster you may want to put 15# braid on. I have used a legend tournament baitcaster for drop shot and there was no problem feeling the light taps.
  20. That's awesome Justin. I look forward to the pictures over the next few months as well. I also enjoy reading your articles in the magazine. Keep up the great work.
  21. Awesome Report Juli. Looks like you all had an awesome trip.
  22. Hey all. I am heading up to Sturgeon Bay this week. Not looking for any hot spots but if someone could guide me in the direction of some pike. I have done some research and I see alot about the bass which isn't to helpfull. Is there much pike in Sturgeon Bay or should I go to some other bays. Feel free to pm me if you would rather not post. Thanks.
  23. Hey it's your boat so obviously you make your rules. Doesn't make someone less of a person for using the bait. I have a place on one of the best lakes for fishing in Ontario, Lake Erie. Boats always there in the water. You are welcome any time to stop by and fish an have a cold one. Even if you don't agree with using live mice.
  24. Lol Hunting for fish is already being done and it is socially excepted. Guy troll around with bows and line hooked to the arrow and they shot carp. I guess its ok though stabbing an arrow through a fish then fighting it. I would personally try that to. After working in a slaughter house for awhile things don't bug you much.
