My daughter and I were up at 4.30 am to make the drive to meet up With life long friends and family at our camping /my fishing spot. We got there at 8.30and I set up the boat and was told to go fishing they would look after Erin. So off I went on the water. Alone yaaaaaa. Started looking for pike but no luck I tried a few of my go to lures and nothing. Then I tried a lure that I picked up on the way and wouldn't you know it SUCCESS. The Bass were going crazy over it. All in all I landed about 30 -40 in the space of 3.5 hours. I don't keep fish very often but Sundays breakfast was good. Saturday nite was good but the big ones didn't want to come out and play. Sunday we took the kids out. Smores and a camp fire. As for Ziggy RIP. Looking forward to the August long weekend and we will do this all again. It never gets old. Don.

Work has kept me extremely busy since the ice went out and with the exception of the May long week end I haven't been fishing at all. But the rewards of long hours and endless day at wok payed off. My daughter and I left 4.30 Saturday morn for our camping/my fishing spot to join our life long friends and family. As soon as I got there at 8.30am I set up the boat and was told to go fishing and they would look after Erin and so on the water I went. Started looking for the big pike but no luck. So I tried a few of my go to lures and still nothing so I decided to try a lure I bought on the way up on a whim and wouldn't you know SUCCESS. The 400 was at a stand still at 4.30 from Steels to Majormack I had a hard time seeing the car in front of me it was NUTS..... North of Majormack to Rutherford the left lane looked like a river. Never seen anything like that before. It kept raining hard until I got to Tottenham and its still raining. Holly CRAP!!!!

I used to fish it as a young boy and as a teenager but the 2 land owners have changed and denied land access to all but themselves. So if I understand it properly they don't own the lake/pond. But do they own the swamp connected to it as well as 2 other lakes?

BPS is nothing more than a walmart for people that don't know what their looking at. Their marketing department bombards people into confusion in order to get them to buy more than they went in for. As for service I have had good luck with the archery department but any thing other than that is just a waist of time. Upsell Upsell Upsell The last thing BPS wants is an educated angler with a one track mind. GET IN GET OUT. Ps If you take the time to look around you can find lots of independent stores to spend your money with. Better service and they know what you want because they take the time to talk to their customers. If they don't have it they will set you up. Don.

Agreed but Scugog is man made and water is regulated(controlled). I guess what im asking is if the water system is public once you go 3.5 hours north east of GTA?

Would you go through a swamp in a canoe for about 1.5 hours to fish? The other part of the question is do you have access. ? Considering that all land around it is privately owned? Is the swamp owned buy the land owner-s or is the water way connecting several lakes as well as swamps public domain? Hmmm?

To little to late. No Kidding. MNR damage control. But for what its worth. Keep your boats clean and don't transport bait . Even ignorant people have fishing licences never mind guns. Or driving licences for that matter.

Well to be honest I don't like electronics and I think that people that rely on them are missing out on one of the most challenging things they can do in their spare time. I will be going to a small lake that I have fished for over 40 years this weekend and the one thing I know for shure is I will have to work to find them and work to keep them biting. It doesn't always work on the July long weekend but that's the challenge and it doesn't stop me from buying more lures/ bait or spending money just to test my self. Keep in mind this is coming from a guy that refuses to use electronics ice fishing Simcoe. So if you know the fish your looking for you should be able to figure out weather patterns water temps/conditions along with their natural tendencies and zero in on them. It may take some time and work but its worth it.

I was having a thought today and it hurt.. I think the reason we don't see any 2nd year cup winners is simply because they are to beet up and don't have time to recover? The only reason I say this is because I remember Montreal winning 5 in a row I remember Edmonton and the Rangers . The drive for 5 was the ultimate goal... The final was played in April/May...Not the end of JUNE!!! In todays game if you make it to the final your to beet up to start next years training camp never mind making through the regular season and getting into the cup final to defend Lord Stanlys Cup.! Its simply INSANE. So. now we are looking at 2 teams that have been contenders since winning the cup over the last 4 years? Who has a chance at winning the cup next year??? I can promise you it wont be Boston or Chicago..... And that's a shame. I feel that its time to shorten the season (not withstanding strikes or lock outs)... Simply because I feel that this shortened season was by far the best HOCKEY we have seen in several years. Lets go TORONTO and BOSTON and the cup winners CHICAGO BLACK HAWKS. Good luck.
