Choate's store on McCracken's Landing was torn down to make way for this: http://www.mccrackenslanding.com/ I guess you can't stand in the way of progress. I spent many years on this lake but my parents sold our family cottage on Stoney when I was 25. I continue to return each year to fish the Firefighters fundraising tournament in September. One of my closest friends has a cottage right next door to this development.

Agreed. But perhaps you missed my point. Even though I did agree that circuits can be heavily sponsor controlled. But I guess anything from the arts to sport do fall under sponsor control I thought your comment about "it just means that lures manufacturers who sponsor those events don't allow them...it cuts into their profits y'know?" was unfounded and for this example not really the case. Edited to add: If the sponsors really did control this ruling you would expect that all the circuits would be affected not just the Classic and the Elite Series. Kind of like allowing aluminum bats in College and minor league baseball but only wood for the big leagues.

Even though the circuits are heavily sponsor controlled, this ruling goes beyond that. Read the press release as it deals with more setups then just Alabama Rigs. They also have banned drop shot rigs where instead of using a weight on the bottom anglers would use a jig and they also banned topwater with a jig running behind: http://www.bassmaster.com/news/bass-imposes-one-lure-rule-classic-and-elite-series From the press release: The rule change, which does not apply to Bassmaster Open, B.A.S.S. Federation Nation, College B.A.S.S. and other events, clarifies the intent of long-standing rules permitting only one rod, one reel and one cast at a time. No longer permitted are double soft jerkbait rigs, drop shot rigs with jigs used as weights, double topwater setups and other multi-lure rigs, such as “umbrella rigs.”

They do manufacture rigs that are legal to use in Ontario: http://www.bassmagnetlures.com/?p=2039 Mizmo is also coming out with a 4 lead rig.

Very sorry to hear of your loss,

This is a good point but it even goes further then just the waterfront aspect. Many of the conservation authorities have mapped out the entire floodplain for the watershed and identified high risk areas that are not waterfront. These high risk areas fall under the same restrictions as waterfront. I just went through this process as the Wye River runs through my back yard and I built a new garage after jumping through many hurdles. When I looked through the maps I noticed that houses two streets over and not even near the river have the same restrictions as they are situated in the high risk area. Don't want to hijack the thread to start discussing Conservation authorities but the one around here should be disempowered.....terrible people to work with.

Here is a release from Cdn Food and Drug on 2007 testing results: http://epe.lac-bac.g...p/200709e.shtml Lake Simcoe was a sample test site but the fish from Lake Simcoe were in an advanced state of deterioration and were not tested.

http://www.wrightpointresort.com/ Lots of water to choose from, boats and motors are all in good shape. Within your time restriction and lots of crown land so not very much boat traffic.

Gotta love a blues man in a plaid shirt - RIP Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel. Jimi Hendrix

As previously mentioned, working with a knowledgeable and helpful dealer is as important as the product you choose. I run an Opti and I am a happy customer. FWIW, and I am not looking to hijack the thread with a discussion on the matter, but also look at some extended warranty options to protect your investment.
-
I think you can get both with a tiller.
-
Drove by Little Lake in Midland yesterday and it was froze over but with the temps this weekend it won't last.

It does sound like your concern is with the extended warranty company and not BRP. If the motor was purchased in 2006 the factory warranty is long over.

Slab on grade? Or frost wall? Electrical? Gas? I am currently having a 14 by 20 garage built. I was restricted by size as my house is on the Wye River, don't get me started about the NVCA. I have built a block frost wall with foundation 48 inch below grade. The building is detached and I had attic trusses installed, I can stand up in the attic. I have 2 dormers in the roof for light up in the attic. I have to install a hydro box in the building as I will have 220 which I wired so that my compressor is also in the attic. I am running 2 trenches from the house approximately 25 meters away, one for gas and the other electrical. The door is a 10 foot insulated door and is higher end style, we live in a red brick Victorian and wanted to match the architecture so a carriage house style door was on the menu. Finish is wood board and batten. Final cost should run around $25,000 +/- 15%, the project is almost finished, doors and windows arrive Friday which means by the end of next week it should be all done. That may seem a little high but no corners were cut, there will 9 windows when it's completed, four in the attic and 5 on ground floor.

Man Arrested for Impaired Operation of a Paddleboat?
SmokestackLightnin replied to a topic in General Discussion
Another grey area. Yes the dock is your property, however, if it's a cribbed dock or somehow anchored to the bottom of the lake it does sit on crown land. -
In my younger days after finishing school (mid 80's to early 90's) I lived for a while on Cecil Street in Toronto (Spadina and College) chasing the dream. While living there my housemates and friends turned me onto the blues scene of Toronto. We would hang out at clubs like Grossman's, Chicago's, ElMo, Horseshoe....lots to choose from and I will spare you the long list. During that time I saw many great blues bands....did I mention I love the blues....my screen name should be a clue. Anyway, one of the artists that we got to know real well in our time was Morgan Davis. Great bluesman, and a helluva nice guy...used to hang around after the set and talk about....fishing...it was a great memory...for me anyway. So here's an interesting twist that I am sure some of you were already aware of. I bought a cottage last year and amongst all the things I inherited from the old owner was a stack of Ontario Out of Doors magazines that date back from the late seventies, right through all of the eighties and some of the early nineties. My 11 year old son is really hooked on bass fishing right now so he sifts through all the mags and pulls out a bunch that have articles on bass and starts reading them. While showing me something in an article I look at the author byline, written by Morgan Davis. I looked through a number of the mags from the early 80's and see a few articles that were written by Morgan. I knew that during his early career he would travel northern Ontario and spend time fishing when he wasn't playing but didn't realize that he wrote articles for OOD. He never did mention that when we would talk after his shows. Or maybe he did and I just didn't put the two together....until recently.

Further to what Roy said, Northwoods were originally manufactured by Smoker/Sylvan with different specs that would fit a budget conscious purchaser. They started in the Minnesota/Wisconsin markets and then expanded from there. Some people may say they were factory seconds but that is not entirely true. You will find them to be a lot lighter than comparable sized big name boats and therefore have a lower max hp rating. If you are interested in one look at it with a fine tooth comb and make sure you check the transom for signs of seam splitting and/or pitting. The boats also had a lighter load rating then comparable units which will restrict the amount of tackle you bring.

tackle shop in parry sound, point au baril, or britt?
SmokestackLightnin replied to mattybculp's topic in General Discussion
It's almost like the tackle shop in close proximity to 400/69 is long gone. Point au Baril has a bait shop right on the highway, not sure about their tackle selection. There are a couple of restaurants/chip stands, gas station and an LCBO right there as well. The other option you may want to consider is the Grundy Lake Store which is at 69 and 522 just past Key River Bridge. The Grundy Lake store has camping supplies and good assortment of fishing tackle as well as a burger/fry/ice cream stop and gas. There is construction at Key River and the bridge is down to one lane but the traffic light seems to keep it flowing. Maybe there is someone who is in Parry Sound that might be able to help with something right in town. -
It's too bad you got stood up. Some people must think we have nothing but time to wait around while they decide whether or not to arrive. I've sold a number of things few Kijiji including a couple of tractors in the past few months and I always get a phone number of the inquiries.
