I dunno Cliff...I took a run around our circle on Thursday (1 mile...2/3rds uphill) and ran out of power...I was only down one green bar in the beginning but the last 2 red bars were flashing and I had to get off and walk it back home...The manufacturer got back to my e-mail about this and said that the flashing means the batteries discharged prematurely...I had also read that new gel batteries will discharge quickly at first until they have been charged a few times... Supposedly, I have new batteries according to my son... Friday I took a run for the mail and dropped down to the fishing spot where I expect to chum some corn tomorrow in the hopes of attracting some carp...I think it will take a few days of chumming before they show up...I had no problems with the scooter... The Manor is only good for fishing from ice-out until mid May then the weeds take over to the point that you could damn near walk on them...

"Sometimes "Thank You" just doesn't seem like enough" Now you know how I feel for all the things you have done for me Cliff... -
August sounds good to me Meely...Same deal as last time...you bring the "queeches...I'll bring the bait and tackle...

I was carp fishing with my son from London, Ontario...He has only ever caught one a couple of years ago (about 25 lbs.)... Sunday his alarm goes off "BEEEEEEEEEEEEPPP" and he remembers to shut off the "free" spool on the baitrunner but made the mistake of "setting the hook" while the carp was still running and pulling line off against the "drag"..."SNAP" !!!...I forgot to remind him that the carp sets the hook during it's initial run...That is all the action we had in four hours... Oh well, the day was not a complete loss...We then had to go pick up my Father's Day gift...My new ride...

I usually walk off most of the line on my spinning reels and then reel it all back on with nothing on the end using my thumb and forefinger to put some pressure on the line... :canadian:
-
I doubt I could make it over to the "Manor" Lew, but it will get me down to the lake here to wet a line... I read that I could do 30 miles on a full charge but I wouldn't chance it... :dunno:
-
Just need to pimp it out with some pvc pipe to hold my rods and I will be able to get down to the park to wet a line... Thanks to my son Steven and his bride Tammy :clapping:

Hey Cliff... It weren't wood...it were brush...and a few branches that Uncle Dave had trimmed and left the hard section attached... Besides...I didn't want to tire you out...you already had had a long day...
-
Back in the late '50s and '60s, some grocery stores around the lake would buy them...$0.39 per lb...There was no limit on them or whitefish...$0.45 per lb... Then the spawning beds got silted and the lake needed to be stocked...

I still gots all 10 fingers and all 10 toes...some hot out there today not that I'm complaining after the winter we had...
-
Chainsaws...I'll find out later today if they are a disaster when I use my electric as I have a branch that damn near decapitated me when I was mowing the lawn out front...also got some stuff to cut in my back driveway so the wood guy can get his truck in the yard... BTW Cliff...Our friend Johnie the wood guy is no longer in business since just before Christmas last year...Jim used to work with him when he and Vern worked out of Lindsay...

Awe shucks Joey...you only say that 'cause it's true... :whistling:

Cliff...You are the greatest...many, many, thanks again for your help...don't know what I would do without you and I don't want to find out... Nice of you to not mention that Jim helped hold the tractor up while you were underneath 'cause you were afraid I would have dropped it on you... :clapping:

Fishing regulation for Zone 17 Walleye
Beans replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
Anything to confuse us old folks...there you can't keep any between 14" and 21"...here (Pigeon) you can only keep between 14" and 19"... Sure made a mess of the tournament on Sturgeon Lake last weekend...most fish caught were over the slot and had to be released... One chap had a pickerel 1/4 " over the slot and was charged 8 ounces off his total weight...forgot to squeeze the tail together... -
He was lucky he didn't go over with the camera... One of our favorite sayings when we lose the 2 or 3 kernels of corn off our hair rigs while carp fishing is "The price of fishing just went up !" One friend of ours forgot to set the "free spool" on his bait runner while carp fishing and sure enough a large carp pulled in his European rod and reel ($1500+)...while casting around trying to snag it one of the lads caught the line but the rod and reel was still caught up in the deep water...A call to the local scuba diving school and they sent one of their lady students over to retrieve it @ $150 per hour ...seeing as how all she had to do was follow the line, he was only charged half price...Phew!!!

I got a few more miles on me than you Lew... I can remember when Turk Broda's weight made the headlines in a Toronto newspaper...LOL

What's wrong is that it wasn't you in the pictures and Terry taking them...!

Too bad the damn mole infestation I had over the winter didn't eat the dandelion roots... I read that if I get rid of the grubs then the moles will move on... Haven't seen any skunk or coon diggings yet so maybe the moles got all the grubs... Sure was a surprise to see all the trenches after the snow melted... Oh the joys of country living !!!
-
Dang !!!...I haven't had a feed of mudcats in many, many moons...Looks good Bruce...

Gagnon's in Oshawa sells worms if you are passing that way...
