  1. I was out last night, water temp is now 41.
  2. I'm in Port, let me know if you have any questions about the area.
  3. That's not a problem, alot of boats have no or limited access from the interior.
  4. I did the same thing this year, but there are rubber washers that come with the mount. You put them underneath it and it brings the biscuit high enough to be able to push the pins through.
  5. You should be able to use a Palomar; just run the end of the line through the eye, then run it back through leaving a loop on the other side.
  6. The insurance company is covering you to rebuild the house in the event you have a total loss. Market value of the home has no bearing. If you have a 2000 sq ft house in the Beaches, and the same house in Peterborough, the coverage amount should be similar, as building costs would be similar. The other thing you have to realize is the insurance company has to pay to rebuild the house exactly the way it is; if you have an older home, that may mean double brick, 10" baseboards etc. If you are in a subdivision, the insurance company has to pay a builder to do a one-off build, so it will cost more than the developer who was building a couple of hundred at the same time. House boat?
  7. If you use UPS Expedited they don't charge a broker fee, you also get it faster and in the end, probably costs you less than going UPS basic and paying the brokerage. By the way, you can get the 80lb Maxxum at Lebaron for about $1200 and pick it up yourself. http://www.lebaron.ca/pdf_files_sp08/fishi...ota_terrova.pdf Sorry, I didn't see it was a transom mount, they only have 55's.
  8. I don't remove the entire safety seal under the lid. I cut it around the inside of the pail and leave the strip on top of the pail to act as a gasket, haven't had any leaks so far.
  9. If it's gone, how do they know whether you had one or not?
  10. I had trouble with the line slipping on the spool, and from then on I put silicone pipe thread tape on the spool before filling it. Its cheap, doesn't make a mess and it works.
  11. The dealer he bought it from should give him a title for the trailer. Did he buy it in a company name and is trying to register it in his own name? You may find the link below helpful. http://boating.ncf.ca/buy-usa.html
  12. The fishing was so good, I thought I was here yesterday.
  13. The other advantage to GPS City - no PST if you live in Ontario.
  14. Before you decide to go with mortgage insurance through your lender, you may want to check out the link below. Marketplace did a show on what it was like trying to collect when there was a claim. The gyst of it is the underwriting process starts when a claim is made, and if there is anything at all that was not disclosed at the time of the application, the claim is denied. http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/2008/02/06/in_denial/
  15. The attacks on Asians happened on Simcoe, not in Port Perry.
  16. I inherited a 1996 Sylvan Sea Troller with a cottage last year. Unfortunately, the boat had gotten away from the prior owner and was banging into rocks for awhile. The damage is on the splash rail at the transition between the side and bottom of the boat. It was repaired from the outside by bending aluminum plate around it, and rivetting it to the splash rail. It was done quite well, but the rivets they used are hollow, and were covered in some kind of silicon, which does leak. I have completely torn out the interior of the boat, and would like to have it repaired from the inside as well. Any suggestions who to deal with in the area?
  17. You can try Dale at Taunton Marine (Taunton and Wilson area). I've dealt with him a few times and he's been great.
  18. Most homeowner policies exclude flooding, so you may want to check before you move the "plasma" to the basement.
  19. If they are attached to your boat, they are considered part of the boat's equipment. If you have something like a portable GPS, it would not be covered under the boat policy. I've been with SF for 20 years, and this is the way it's always been handled. What kind of electronics are you talking about?
  20. Hey Landlocked...I wasn't commenting on boat policies in general, I was just letting Misfish know what his State Farm policy covered. The worst policy I heard of was the one that only covered theft of a PWC if it was stolen from the inside of a locked building...
  21. Misfish, if your electronics are attached to the boat, they are covered. With State Farm, it is an agreed amount policy, which means if you insure it for $10k, and it goes missing, you get $10k. Also, partial losses (motor stolen off boat, wipe out bottom end etc) are settled at replacement cost. If the package is insured for $10k, you would have replacement cost for the motor, up to the policy limits. And $480 seems high for the cost of insuring a 16' with a 50hp motor.
  22. The forecast is for another 10-15mm of rain tonight. That should pretty much shut'er down till next week sometime.
  23. I'm pretty sure its closed north of the CN tracks as of Jan.1, unless the new regs are different. Hwy#2 is about a mile north of that.
  24. Because people won't pay to watch brain surgery....
  25. The ice should be safe for the opener, but contact causeway bait to be sure. And for those who didn't know, crappie are now open during ice season.
