This season has been really good. The average size has gone way up, many days I'm averaging 16-17" fish, with the smallest being 14". Good stats considering some days we get 30+ fish each. Like Joey said, the keepers have been consistent and the big girls take a line once in a while. yellow birch flows like crazy, just after the end of maple syrup season. The boil ratio is closer to 60:1, but the volume of sap coming out of that tree is surprisingly high.

Don't tap silver maples haha. That's a funny, and probably easy mistake to make when you first start. Red (soft) or Sugar (hard) both produce good. The hard is hands-down better, but the reds still produce. You'll see the tips (buds) of the 'Reds' turn a fairly bright red this time or year. I noticed that my smaller trees produced earlier than most big ones. Your tree-wells look good for tapping (the ring of melt around the truck base). We still have 3-4 feet of snow, I have another month before I setup my equipment. Have fun and good luck! I love doing syrup.

yeah, stay away from Callander Bay unless for some reason you can't get to the main lake. Better chance at big fish and lots of walleye on the south end. More perch and day-long action on the north side.

Reeds outdoor is a good operator on Nipissing, he's on the north side and you WILL catch lots of fish. Whoever you book with, I'd definitely recommend the north side (not south bay) of the lake for numbers and good action to keep the family busy.

Rochefort/hyndman has an interesting history.

I should just build a cheap tar paper shack, have no loan against it and remove insurance. Then I can burn what I want (obviously safely which is not hard to do) and have no fear of losing my expensive home in the event of a fire. Of cours I'm kidding. Thx for all the replies everyone

Not always true. I'm on my second insurer in two years and never have I had to provide a WETT certificate. All the clearances, materials and legalities are easily searched (if not all in your owners manual) and done by yourself or a professional installer, WETT is a racket, a pseudo-regulatory agency. Farm mutuals, or cooperators, I'll look at them. Perfect. I run a commercial wood lot operated as a farm so I should be able to qualify for farm insurance. Also, my broker clearly doesn't have the reach of insurers I need

So I'm looking for a new broker and/or insurer. Who here gets decent woodstove coverage, and what company do you use? I will funnel my money to realistic companies, not companies that promote the demise of wood heat in (rural) Canada.

Great bikes, I have one, but it's a 350 and a 92. You have aftermarket, but the prices aren't much better I found and I'd prefer the genuine Honda qualify for a bike that age. This bike had been through hell and back, and still runs like a champ. I can't get over how well built they are. Plus their resale is amazing.
