Ya, brush wolves would more often than not be scared off by a few big huskies. Don't let them mess with the timbers!! Huskies are awesome dogs. My Siberian did a fantastic job watching over out property until the timbers got him.

I have 160 acres of bird-land with a couple kms of trails on it. I can't friggen wait until the 15th!!! Man I love bird/rabbit hunting. We also have a surf n turf grouse n laker trip coming up soon. I've never planned a hunting and fishing mix trip, so I'm super stoked! Good luck on your excursion Mikdor

There is likely a local forest management group (here is Nipissing Forest Resource Management) that has some authority over spraying, logging practices etc. They might have some info. Their number was on one of those signs near one of my borthers Speckled Trout creeks. It was Glycosphate as well. Sudbury CBC had a spot where an environmentalist nobody discussed this issue with professional forester...let's just say the forester sounded WAYYY more credible and actually provided some good information. What I took away from the spot, was that it's extremely diluted, has been extensively tested and it's just way cheaper than manual cutting. Are you saying that your buddy actually got sprayed-on (you said he felt 'rain' and tasted nickel. That potentially could be bad and should be reported to a doctor and the MNR for exposure.

I'd like a handgun for animal protection while walking in the bush only. My long gun is too long and my knife is too short. I don't know anyone who has ever been in a situation with another human where a gun was actually needed to solve it. If all of a sudden everyone in Canada was allowed to carry it would be absolute chaos hahaha (although actually not funny) good idea closing that sled trail Chris. That's the first thing I'd do. Also consider fencing and other techniques like ink bombs or spy cameras or baiting them with worthless but shiny equipment or kerping a tiger (they'd probably steal that too). Google spy cameras, they have some amazing pieces available now.

I don't know the history of the area, so for that part I can't comment, but that's a strong statement saying "they hate me and what I'm doing, and they hate my people" referring to every non-native person. How is that not considered blatant racism, fear mongering and hate breeding?

Bobcats and lynx' love housecats too. So I've heard. I find it a bit odd that my many rabbits (up to 24) have been left alone by predators over the last 3 years. Things are better, but still lots of reminders. We've been offered a Great Pyrenees by someone. It's still a bit early, but this looks one hell of an outdoor dog.

Jeremie isn't that a Gordon light foot lyric?? Well, wolves should not be coming that close to the house, weve seen them on repeated occasions this year, even with us around. It's not a good pattern. My dog was 100 free range and knew his boundaries amazingly well. Honestly, I agree that it was a known risk. Something I can manage maybe a bit better (like tying up when I hear packs, or shooting at them wen they are in my daughters play area), but nonetheless part of country life. There was both hybrids and Timberwolves around. There are no legitimate coyotes here, only eastern/coyote mixes and timbers. I heard both the timbers and the hybrids that night. Because the intact carcass was lifted and moved 100m without a trace, blood or fur, I assume it was a wolf because the hybrids could never have picked him up that cleanly, they are the same size as buddy approximately.

Oh, and the MNR said I have legal right to shoot at the wolves (that are close to my house) given my situation, With a one-year old daughter who is learning to play outside a lot, I don't like the idea of bold wolves near the house. The wife is learning to use riffles...like it or not!
