How's everyone for firewood this year? Forecast calls for a mild winter but that didn't stop me from gathering, prepping and splitting 30 cords. I'm hoping this lasts me two seasons. Does anybody use a log arch with their atv to haul out logs?

iPhone 5s here. I refuse any updates, do t have iTunes, have no apps and rely on my laptop to write important emails I love my iPhone haha

I thought ducks/migratory birds had to be in flight, not on the water surface, in order to fire. Seems dangerous to be shooting flat instead of in the air as well. Shot falling out of the air is harmless, but shot moving laterally, yikes. Please correct me if I'm wrong (I've never actually duck hunted).

Absolutely what Bill said. You did your due diligence. Very little chance they'll bother you. on second thought, how much does the MNR Tips pay for good intel??? :D

Send photos to MNR asap

Did you fly into Whirlygig again? haha Sounds like you found your red herring!

Are you looking for the giant ones? Up here we only have smaller kinds (that I've seen anyway), they've been poking out a bit. The Chantrelle's are amazing this year, when it's too wet they get eaten by slugs almost immediately. I have 20lbs of them dehydrated

Hahahaha! Is this harlemfishingcommunty.com? stop watching tv immediately

You've inspired me to try and get 'bow fishing this fall. This is a great time to target them. Glad you finally peeled that skunky smell off your back!

hahaha Bill, I think that actually counts as a vote for Donald Trump

We were camping/fishing/hunting up in that area as well this weekend. I wonder how close our paths crossed? We scored a few spruce grouse, but no ruffed.

Another Weekend at Bernie's - monster PB pic inside!
Rod Caster replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Left: headhunter, middle: Bernie , right: fishnsled. In some way I hope I guessed arses wrong. Great read! Those are the types of weekends I live for -
Can you find who sponsors/supports/lobbies them?? If you could, you would find clues as to the things they might try to do. Regardless, I don't think they have enough MP's to even form a government. I like them as an opposition party. It would be nice to see them get a few more seats this time around.

That was posted in dec 2014 brutal idea. Reversing the registry twice would be such a massive waste of money. As if they'd want me to register my 40 year old wooden stock .22 and a war time 303. I'm glad the Liberals are against it, they would lose my vote immediately if they even considered returning it.

Cool. One of a million new lakes and waterways for you to explore up there.

These people are already breaking existing laws, why not just enforce them properly. Littering, meat wasting, snagging etc... New laws that make things that are already illegal, additionally illegal (?), are a waste of time and restrict everyone. Municipal Governments need to stay out of law making as far as I'm concerned.

? Whitefish. No fish finder. Deep lake
Rod Caster replied to Rod Caster's topic in General Discussion
That's the nice thing, even if I don't find the whities, the lakers might be hanging around. I'll find humps the old fashion way, trolling deep, when I bump bottom, something's there! Rudimentary, but it's worked for me (at least for 20-30fow fishing) Thx for the tips, wish me luck, I'll likely need it! -
I actually meant the "..not have a say ..." Part towards the personal belief side more than immigration. I agree with what you said above

Since 1900 this country has been run by a liberal government 21 times, they were not in power 12 times. So ya, if they get in power again, I can't imagine how we are 'screwed' like the fear mongering blue sports team likes to make us believe. Harper government is no longer the coalition they were when they first combined...nearly all (if not all) the true PC members have defected, leaving us with the current Alliance party run by Harper, which never really gained traction in their time because they were essentially republicans, and they were so out of touch that they were vocally anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-immigration (government should have no say in that, and a true conservative government actually stays out of peoples personal lives!!). Vote Can-republican if you want, but this current government is way further right that what you believe Canadian conservatism is; its scare me way more than a deficit. Come to think of it, I'll personally be in deficit for 20 more years until my house and woodlot in the country, in a low-tax unorganized township are paid off. I'd love to have a real conservative government as an option. These guys just want power and to shut-up any opposition. Really, I'm not afraid of a minority Harper government, but this majority crap has to go, even a majority liberal or NDP government scares me.. too much power in this hyper-partisan era.

Hey experts. I don't expect this to be easy...but I'd like some tips and opinions. Going to a clear, smallish lake trout lake this coming weekend. Water would still be warm, barely cooling off. I'd like to spend some time trying for whitefish, and I know they are plentiful there. I'll be in a canoe (trolling motor) and if the winds are low, I'll do some jigging. Without a fish finder, how would you approach this? My basic plan is to use small but heavy spoons and dropping them to bottom, looking for around 80 feet of water. Should I focus on open water, humps (if I can find them), steep drops, mid depth water.... Maybe use jigs/grubs (not sure how I'll get to 80 feet with a jig) This will be a shot in the dark no matter what, but any general ideas or tips would be appreciated.

Can't complain with results like that!

You need to move to Hearst or kapuskasing... I found out this weekend that it's the light bar capitol of Canada. Every second truck has one.

I actually never heard of them, but if they are new I'd assume their equipment should be in good condition and clean. Hahaha. I guess I'm not a pizza connoisseur then. Then again, I also love 2-4-1 pizza, and balogna

Manitoulin, Sault Ste Marie, Batchawana trip report
Rod Caster replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
Meeting Tyler alone would have made the trip worthwhile haha. That whole hwy 17-superior north corridor is an amazing spot to spend at least a few days and play. -
For interests sake, here are the 'Brush wolves' captured on trail cam on my property. The MNR told me they are a western coyote and Eastern (Red or Algonquin Park) Wolf mix. No true coyotes around here.
