Ugh, disapointing for sure. Put a mask and snorkel on and see if she's still there

Put in a couple hours on Callander Bay today. It's close to home and to be honest, I don't fish Nipissing as much as I should....so I took the opportunity today. I put out a few texts and eventually I found a paddling partner. It was fairly windy when we arrived at the lake, so we decided to paddle all the way to the weedbed, then drift back to the launch. Third cast put me on a walleye, followed by a couple sheep and then a nice big 'eye to round things out. My partner didn't have as much luck but managed a nice bass...he also lost a BIG smallmouth right at the boat. "time to learn a better knot!". As we drifted back, we left the "hot spot" and the bites stopped, but it was a nice night so we enjoyed the weather and chatted a bit. A few wgsf later...and it was time to call it a day.

Well done! I'm actually fishing CBay right now. Got two nice walleye and a couple huge sheeps.

Good lakers. Haven't been able to try jigging for them yet... Tough to control a canoe in the wind

good outing. hope everyone stays healthy!

Likely what I'll do. It was disheartening to finally get my transom mount complete, battery purchased, new prop and then have it burn out within 5 minutes. Such is life. C-tire here I come. Thanks for the technical suggestion, Tybo.

Def a drum/sheep. They sure can fight.

If its a headache for me, I guess I could give it to someone who will repair it.
-
Ok, I'll pop the lid and check it out. That would be nice if it was just a fuse
-
Well, an expensive lesson... But, I'll have better equipment because of it.

You could be right, I had to strip the Neg wire prior to connecting because the circle connector had fallen off. Yup, 12V. I had the motor on "high" when it overheated. I'm thinking the same thing.... 1988 is embossed on the motor's casing....it might just be time to move on. Thanks Art! Great info. You think it's possible that the connector cables were too thin to handle the unit on "high", overheated and caused a short? Or maybe like HTHM said, a loose connection could have caused a short? I think your right though.. new TM in my future. This unit came with the sale of my canoe, so no big loss. NEW GEAR!

It's an old motor, so I don't have the paperwork. It's a 28lbs thrust. Battery is SRM-24, 550CCA

Well....I finally broke down and bought a Quaker State deep cycle battery for my 28lbs Motor Guide trolling motor. The guy at the battery shop said I should get a battery with double the Amp-hrs, and so I did. 10 minutes in and out... i wanted to go fishing. 5 minutes into trolling I smell burning electronics, reach to turn the unit off and it seizes. After I let everything cool down, I try again and my unit is toast. Pick up the paddle and move on. What do you think? 1-It's the battery shop guy's fault ....sold me the wrong battery for my purposes. 2- The wires leading to the motor might be too small to handle all that power. (my fault in the end) 3- Motor Guide's suck and it was bound to happen at some point anyway 4- It's completey my fault, if it's the wrong battery, it's still up to me to know better. 5- forget it and take the opportunity to upgrade my trolling motor

X2. Show up with a frozen bag of walleye and a big smile. Chances are, the property owner is keeping out butt-holes; if he sees you as a nice guy, you may get yourself a private lake to fish

Must be a one in a cajillion event. Fry it up.... can't taste all that bad if you dip it in butter -
Different sticker is all, from what I understand. The radisson guy is a white man like davey crocket, the sportspal guy is native. Yes they are made in the same plant. Great workers in a clean plant. I couldn't be more impressed with their work quality and service.
-
www.bwmarineproducts.com Sportspal is made in Canada. (north bay) Radisson is made in Canada, and sold in US. Not sure about any US knockoffs or manufacturers, but the ones built in North Bay are good quality...not the best paddling canoe as has been discussed (i still raise my nose and say its good ) but a well built and easily repaired canoe.

Nice "post-op"tion.

He was going to take it for a walk! Hahaha Walleye-wobbly walleye

Some people think the world is their toilet bowl. I went camping at a very remote spot last weekend and actually removed some of the old (like 5-10yr old) garbage from the spot... Even though its very unlikely I'll ever return. There was a young kid with our group, I can only hope she understood why we were doing that.

More environmental regulatory cutbacks! Is this what people actually want? This is clearly the government unloading and reducing its size to say its "saved money" and hence "stimulate the economy". Its all just a bunch of postering and decicisons based on fear, not reason. The economy will always go up and down but when the environment crashes we are all screwed.

Great great great report! That first walleye is a real prize... I consider that a trophy especially for a lake you've never fished before. Well done watching and learning from kev. I like to think I have the walleye "feel" as well, but its funny how a couple days of bass fishing completely changes your expectations and methods. Thanks for posting your trip... Those walleye sure know how to do the "combined belly float" move.

Also very suprised to see parise move. I would have dropped Kovy well before I got rid of parise.

Looks like it's gonna get eaten real soon Your pics are real small by the way... photobucket seems to be the easiest/best way to go for photos.

Cool! What kind of fish are these? Shads??
