  1. Hey Pete, Good timing! I'm in the home stretch of giving the 25 yr old Mistress a makeover. I'll save you a lot of time and research, i.e iBoats.com. - Marine grade/CAC (minimal copper content) plywood is heavy. 60+ lbs a sheets & then you have to source type CAC sealer for cut edges. Lowe's has CAC (equivalent to marine) plywood but I couldn't find the appropriate sealer. - Commercial grade exterior plywood i.e spruce for roofing, is perfectly fine as long as you double coat epoxy resin on both faces & edges. I paid $20 a sheet for 1/2 inch @ Home Depot. If you're going to use your 3/4, give it a rough sand & tack cloth treatment. - Best price on 2 part epoxy I found was @ http://www.foghmarine.com You should be able to pick up a small 2 part mixture for around $40 (I needed more). - As for adhesive, the stuff on the left is difficult to source & $30+ per can. Lepages on the right is the 'same stuff' & readily available @ Home Depot for $20. Good for vinyl & carpet. As for bunk replacement, I replaced the 25 yr old bunks last year with 2x6 cedar wrapped in marine carpet on the submersed surface & puck board on the exposed (above water) face. I'll try to find a pic. & I have excess 1/2 plywood lots of 1/2 SS staples if you need some. I'll take a +50" musky in trade
  2. That seems to be a big number Lew? Maybe an extra zero got added (innocently enough) along the way? Anyways, on topic here's some food for thought: Sean's 'repatriation' cost from YEG to YYZ after the 2013 accident was just over $31K. Crew consisted of 2 RN's & 2 pilots. Apparently if scheduling allowed for a return repatriation, costs would have been reduced significantly. That was not the case then but fortunately, all costs were covered by WCB Alberta. Be sure to check your policies accordingly.
  3. Awesome fish Mike. Congrats!!! Seems this fish may be an OFC BEST????
  4. Hey Huzz, Thx for the offer but my needs are for one only as it is intended for time on the water. As it is 100% cotton, it hang dries from the laundry in about 30 minutes. BTW, white & light colour pastels have the lowest UPF ratings. Darker colours are much better.
  5. I've read this post 3X over the past week & read/see something new each time. You have a great gift Moose.
  6. Nope. Tomorrow is Saturday in this time zone LOL. BC is preparing that next weekend We'll toast an iced tea in your honour. Now quit hijacking my post
  7. Thx. I'll see if I can con Big Cliff to pick up an order for me.
  8. Haha. NPC for dinner tonite still one of my all time favourites.
  9. THX OI. All things considered, that was a small blip on my personal radar But not to be ignored.
  10. Just checked the tags. 90% nylon or polyester. I can definitely bear them early spring/late fall but they definitely fail the summer heat I got to say that the new ensemble is pretty much the next best thing to being bare ass naked & the wife is pleased that I've found clothing to wear in the back yard
  11. Curious to know what an average cut @ 1 1/2 " sells for & if your open on Sunday's??
  12. We have an upscale menswear store here in Mississauga Rick. I figure we size about the same (XL) & I could pick one up for you if you wish.
  13. So earlier this year, I had a brush with skin cancer. Basal cell carcinoma, not the worst, but still unnerving. Got it carved out & follow ups were all good. However, the specialist did say that I was at high risk due to my recreational lifestyle. Lots of golf, fishing & time on the water. Like lots of us here. Made a promise to my wife that I would follow through with preventative measures and I have (for the most part) kept my word. Tons of sunscreen (not the best long term option), wide brimmed head covering, protective clothing and I no longer spend 6+ hours on the water or in the sun on a given day. My SIL bought me a variety of UPF rated shirts for Father's Day this year & I can't stand them. Hot, sticky (despite the venting) & ultimately stinky & they always end up unbuttoned & rolled up sleeves; So the subject came up in a casual discussion the other day with my good Pakistani friend (Big Cliff). Never heard about skin cancer or sunscreen before he arrived in Canada?? So long story short, after considerable research I decided that this option would be a better solution both UPF & comfort; It is known as a Shalwar Kameez. 100% cotton with a dense but light thread weight, lots of room for air flow and extremely comfortable & cool (especially when commando;) ). I estimate that given the thread density & the darker colour, it's on the higher side for cotton with a UPF rating of 60+. I can up that if I wish by using RIT UV dye, but I've read some questionable data on that stuff. Still need the sunscreen for face, hands & feet as well as my Aussie Akubra, but I believe I'm better protected from the sun than I ever have been. Now just need to check the club dress code
  14. I will contribute (based on experience) and recommend: 1. Ignore everything you've read. 2. Engage a reputable & accredited paralegal (there not just for traffic tix ) that specializes in municipal law. 3. Be prepared to pay $250-300 for a 90 min initial consult. PL will give you insight & options during the initial consult. & lawyers are for Court should that be an outcome.
  15. Port Credi is the hot spot so far.
  16. Seems a visit to reminisce the good times is in order. I'll check with M & see if we can pick some dates
  17. I've had this theory/plan in mind for a few years now. I think that MTO should close all entries & exits, north & south, to the 400 from Innisfil Rd to the south, north to the 400/11 split from Thursday 8:00 pm through Sunday 8:00 pm. This would make it much more convenient via improved traffic flow to those of us travelling north to Seguin with little or no inconvenience to the fine residents of Barrie???
  18. Brian (et al), I just finished bringing my HDS 7 Gen 1 back to life (Spincast's fault ) with a full operating system and background files restore. I highly recommend watching this series of YouTube videos featuring Lowrance set up. It is a bit dated and features earlier generation Lowrance's but the basics are the same with today's technology. Jocelyn from Angler's Outfitters is considered the the Lowrance Guru. Lots to learn here.
  19. Your right in my backyard Mike. I would only recommend;Gabriels Restaurant $$$$- walking distance from the hotel at the corner of Erin Mills Parkway & Mississauga Road (& not as formal as their website appears). If you do go there, tell them I referred you. The following are in Streetsville, a 3 minute drive: Mondello Ristarante $$$ Goodfellas Pizza $$$ Chuculainns Irish Pub $$ Burrito Boyz $$ take away only Buffalo Wild Wings $$$ a five minute drive to Meadowvale. If your up for a get together, shoot me a pm.
  20. Happy birthday my friend. A celebration is long overdue.
  21. Highly recommend you consider Scotty Orca's for Salmon: http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74343&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79366&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
  22. Happy Ending Animal Services contacted me late today to let me know that the cat was recovered and in fact it was 'chipped'. They will track down the owners and pass along the news. Did my humanitarian duty and happy with the outcome. Except for the cat of course.
  23. So, after a couple of drams of highland with my neighbour lawyer & with due consideration of the fact I would potentially admit that I ran over said owners beloved pet on my personal property, we decided on Porkpie's suggestion with a twist. I relocated the cat curbside on the nearest municipal intersection & called Animal Control. They filed a dispatch (non priority) for animal pick up. As PP suggested, if an owner filed a missing animal report, 'closure' will happen. If not, likely a feral/stray?
