Funny you say that - on the way home yesterday, I said next trip is the north shore. Cant believe we didn't find any bows. As for the weather. Hmmph Had I known it would have been a different agenda for the weekend altogether.

  4. cool looking tractor. I suspect when its all put together its gonna look pretty darn awesome. Those old steam units are amazing. umm,,,, That looks like a lot of grass to cut? Have you trained the sheep that well already?
  5. OK then... OFC to the rescue.... google is my friend your best option for marking bait and fish at speeds above trolling is a thru hull transducer. Location is key. You want somewhere within 12" or so of your keel far enough back that it stays in the water all the time and as far from strakes as you can get. You don't have the freedom of trial and error with location like you do when transom mounting but if you do some research and get it right which is very feasible you'll love it. I have been watching my graph at 25mph several times marked bait and hooks doubled back setup and popped fish. It isn't always that easy in fact most times it isn't but when it all comes together you feel like a hero. so the quest continues for an aluminum solution....hopefully there are alternatives to pretty little minnows, braid and instant replays.......
  6. I've read in several articles and sites about being able to read fish with your sonar when on plane. What is the secret? Is it angle, location? I only get dots across the screen until I slow down. Using a HDS 7 Gen 2
  7. this one is going to the top of the list for this weekend
  8. another Sunday of high winds....:(

Theres always that fly fishing thing Rick. Yes I understand catching flys is a challange, but it is mellowing.

  9. http://www.goldwaterseafoods.com/lobster.htm I think this is the company my Mum used a few years ago for a family feed. I, unfortunately missed it, but the rest of the family gave it to thumbs up
  10. . Pick a time when the place is busy, and start expressing your concerns about the quality or concern, loudly. As loudly as you can without actually yelling. It has proved to be a very effective strategy for me on more than one big ticket item.
  11. That's just awesome. ! Great news!
  12. federal or provincial employer? If federal, go to your local HRSDC office. If Ontario, go the the Ministry of Labour. They will advise not just what the law is, but the legal precedents and findings. No cost to you. They will also arbitrate on your part, again no cost to you. They will give you insight as to where you stand legally. There are many factors that are taken into account.
  13. I'm sure they'll find a spot on the greenbelt protected land Joey Similar situation where I live, except its a gravel quarry on an aquifer for the Grand and its tribs. Prime farm land in this case as well. A small group has been fighting it for 3 years now, but the bucks of the local population (those who care, of which there are disappointingly few) just cant compete. Next year it'll be raccoons touring the landscape
  14. Every other day of the week is fine, yeah. But whenever Monday comes - but whenever Monday comes......

  16. Thanks for the kind words, and right back at ya - I got a list of recipes to try from this thread a mile long, several from yourself.
  17. The smoke keeps the skitters away
  18. congrats - nice day. Pete pulls through for another great day on the water.
  19. Brian Its the only way to serve those big fish. If I cant get them to swim away, soak 'em and smoke 'em. For some reason, it doesn't last long around here. I'll be sharing some of this batch with the folks at work tomorrow as they have been asking for a taste. Be a bit of a drive for ya, but your welcome to stop by for a wee nibble
  20. IN the main kitchen - a small fryer stuffed with diced onions, mushrooms, garlic and spices all mixed together with olive oil.. rubbed with paprika, garlic and onion power, salt and pepper and skewered, wings tied up with butchers string to keep them moist drippings will be used to make gravy MEANWHILE, back on the side kitchen, the smoker is hitting prime temp to welcome some salmon that has been marinaded for 4.5 days in Ketsup Manis (a sweet soy sauce), Maple syrup, kosher salt and water about 75 minutes later, henrietta is ready for the plate served with pan fried, 1/4'd potatoes that are boiled for 10 minutes first and tossed with salt in the paper towel to remove excess oil - this one tip makes awesome fried potatoes btw- and fresh asparagus while cleaning, time for the Jack Daniels Barrel chips to add their soft smokey sweet flavour to sammy's savoury tastes and about 2 hours later even though I was still full from the main course, I just had to try some oh, yeah.....
  21. This looks delish gonna have to try this one.
  22. fog+ Temagami = trim up and slow down. That would be hariy if you were not 100% familiar with the lake, even with the chart plotter.
  23. Somewhere I have picture of my daughters biggest bass - almost 4lbs,-- caught on a Dora the Explorer rod and worm when she was 4. "Daddy, I need help!.. That's OK squirt, you got it" She was smiling for days.
