  1. nice composition on that second shot.
  2. Well, it was that day again, the one that comes but once a year and gives us family men a chance to show our wives how much they mean to us. In our house, we spare no effort to show our respect. We selflessly get up before the dawn and hook to our work machines. Caring not for the risk, we brave the deep waters seeking our most coveted offering once found in exactly the correct size we diligently nurture them and ensure their freshness we perform herculean tasks that stretch our bodies to their very extremes so that at last after many selfless hours and a brave running of the gauntlet to avoid the rough seas and rain that chased us off the water, we may bring home our ,most special offering and then, still after many hours and at insurmountable risk to ourselves, still we labour on and make preparations worthy of our respect and a fine meal worthy of my wife, who looks at me on Friday night and says - Well, Jays game Saturday - you fishing Sunday?, 'cause I got places to be .... What more can an angler ask for? To all those wives who understand this obsession... You're the best
  3. nice - looking forward to seeing a few of those ON the water soon, myself
  4. sand. locate it at a point that will deliver the most counter balance. Because of the way it flows to fill a space, it is a great solution to a balance issue. I put 100 lbs in the bow under the deck, in a box, lined with plastic to keep it dry to help offset the weight of a 115 and 20 (both 4 strokes) hanging off the back of a 176. so far, so good
  5. G.Mech - I tip my hat to you sir, thanks for those who may be about to venture forth into the land of tiny wires and fat fingers .... get to the the NMEA 0183 setup menu. on my HDS gen 2, this is in the network menu in settings. Make sure the tick is activated - I was under the impression from another source that this came turned on as a default setting - so I didn't really spend any time looking for it before someone pointed me in that direction..... Then - Green from VHF to Shield from GPS Blue from VHF to Yellow from GPS. Badda boom, badda PING, POS on the radio.
  6. update at 6..... one day this week. patience pool is drained for today
  7. Looking for some wiring help: want to connect a HDS 7 gen 2 to a Standard Horizon DSC GX1000S VHF Here's what the Standard Horizon connection chart shows: White - External Speaker (+) ................ Connect to externla 4 Ohm Audio speaker Shield - External Speaker (-) .............. Connect to 4 Ohm Audio speaker Blue - NMEA Input (+) ............... Connect to NMEA (+) output of GPS Green - NMEA ground (-) .............. Connect to ground of GPS Purple - NMEA Output (+) ................ Connect to (+) input of GPS Here's what the HDS Chart shows; HDS Device Green RX (-) Transmit (-) Orange RX (+) Transmit (+) Shield (Ground) Ground Yellow TX (+) Receive (+) Blue TX (-) Receive (-) This is a NMEA 0183 set up. I tried pretty well everything I could think of based on these descriptions, and the radio continued to read NO POS. From the radio green purple and blue are a set, white and shield are a set. Both radio and FF need NMEA 0183 version 2.0 or higher to communicate. The HDS is set to communicate by default anybody done a similar set up?
  8. great shots . Them be faces only a mutha could love....
  9. water was 42 today, and 40 out at 100 FOW, but the mud-lines were mostly gone and you could see bottom in 20 FOW. nothing to show for looking from 20 - 120. A few more warm days combined with west winds and I'm thinking we'll be seeing some action
  10. yepper - it was a combat zone off Jordan, so we dodged up towards Grimsby. Not much on the screen. The temps are 42 in close but still 39 and 40 out in the 80 fow and beyond range. need some W winds. finally ! here's to spring!
  11. Not much taking my offerings today, but put I put a friend onto his first. 3 more and we should be evens for that tyee
  12. Lake O is 42 in tight - now if we can just get some W winds.

  13. Glad to hear Brian, that's a load off 'eh? - just in time for the annual Laker opening day with that other dood....
  14. beauty. and some day in the not too distant future, me thinks you will be taking a picture like that too
  15. lots of mud today out Jordan -- the harbour kicking it out like a brown smoothie , with driftwood and small branches floating all over- we didn't go all the way to the outside edges, but it looked to be in the 30, 35 foot range. There were some pockets of green water to be found, but the screen was more active in the mud than the green. Temps were a consistent 38 - 39. We had a late start, not hitting the water till almost 10:30. Was a slow day, and then the winds picked up out of the NE.was nice to get out again. 1 small brownie for our efforts.
  16. amazing as always Mike - very nice. We have to do a Lake Erie II (or if O cooperates a day fish closer to home) this year, see if we cant find the target species... or at least something (yes, even a baaaaaa, ok?) worth getting a photo of.
  17. nice going. cant wait till I can finally get out.
  18. Lowes takes the compact ones for recycling the long tubes we have to wait for the hazardous days at the local landfill
