  1. The thing with warranties is they are designed to cover manufacturers defects, which in general will fail within the first few trips if there is one. Many people take advantage of it and get a rod covered that is 10+ years old and Shimano loses their shirt on it, I wouldn't be surprised to see other companies follow suit and shorten their warranties within the next 5-10 years. It must have been pretty bad if they can afford to hire several staff to work full-time inspecting rods.
  2. Agreed, one of my all time favourites! Lost another amazing person. R.I.P.
  3. If you're ever in the Niagara region come by Grimsby Tackle, check it out! Grimsbytackle.com
  4. Heard the news, best nets out there. Contemplating buying another just to save as a backup.
  5. Does yours have I-pilot installed? If so I'd be using it all the time for trolling, set it down and press north up now no one has to steer. Obviously I know you're not planning to do that on your trips away as you're trying to save battery life it's just a suggestion for fishing closer to home.
  6. If you're doing an improved clinch only wrap 2-3 times with the heavier line
  7. Try doing a simple software update using a blank ad card, if that doesn't help give George at Bay Distributors a call. (705) 476-6010
  8. Select navionics coastal under the chart option, that will give you the detail you're looking for.
  9. Apparently 2ft vis cloudy but greenish. Check out Cast Adventures on Facebook for updates
  10. Fox-p hunting cover scent. Tinks makes it and works great on coons, skunks, rabbits, etc from what i've heard.
  11. Haha funny you say that, my boss had someone knock one out of a Scotty power lock, bye bye 5 colour clarion setup. Guy still took his portion of the winnings from the tourney and didn't even offer to help replace it.
  12. Had a customer this summer who lost a talora/tekota combo when a fish hit the dipsey and snapped the holder using a Scotty orca. Cannon tracks/rod holders are another option.
  13. Better yet the guys that have no clue going 4+ miles an hour lol.
  14. I don't believe the cannon link is available anymore to link it to a humminbird however you can still use all the extra features like cycling etc directly on the rigger. I have the mag 10s and they do everything I'd need them to do so honestly I don't see it being worth the extra cash.
  15. I'm another vote for cannon, I have the mag 10s and they are great. Fast, autostop at the waterline, and they can handle larger weights no problem.
  16. Lowrance did raise the costs to dealers
  17. It should, when you go to your chart selection pick navionics coastal, that should have the data.
  18. Biggest this fall was around 17lbs. Plenty of em though.
  19. I have both the elite 5 and a vexilar fl20, I must admit I prefer using the vexilar especially in the deep water for lakers & whiteys.
  20. I set my ping speed to fastest and sensitivity to 100% also I prefer using split zoom rather than the flasher. If you press the + button you'll get 4x zoom on the left hand side and with the directional pad you can scroll to which area you want to view, usually the bottom for me.
  21. I was out Saturday as well, tried giving your friends a push but they got pretty deep in that ditch. Fish sticking tight to bottom are likely whiteys and I find they usually won't come more than 15-20ft off bottom, lakers will chase and commit big time coming up big time. I got 1 whitey n 1 laker, missed about another 6 hits.
  22. Had a hard time keeping them on managed to land 2 lakers and a whitefish out of 9 fish hooked.
  23. Use low power mode if available in that model and also if you have the tribeam transducer your cone will make a huge difference in size. I was in 10ft using my fl20 and couldn't figure out why my bait was marking so big then I remembered to change the angle from a narrow beam to a wider one.
  24. If you plan on mounting it on your transom do yourself a favor and buy a transducer mounting board. Drill the 2 holes to mount that and for any transducers in the future you have a composite board you're screwing into rather than more holes in your boat.
