Hi all, told a friend about the good fishing i had the other day, he wanted to check it out for himself. he is an experienced fisherman but had not fished this local lake before. He also just started renting an appartment on the lake so we set off from his landing...which is pretty cool cuz now i dont have to pay $10 this summer at the boat launch! We caught lots of fish (lol...i did catch fish too...just too busy filming my buddy....HONEST!) Did try some deeper water too (90FOW). only difference was that there were fewer baitfish out deeper, but when the bait came through there was always around 3 or 4 trout circling right along with it, not so in the shallower 60FOW, bait fish on screen the whole time at that depth with trout moving in periodically. We also caught a lot of Ling, i kept a big one i got , mmmmmmmmmm....best eating fish in my opinion. BROKE MY NEW YEAR RESOLUTION ALREADY....MORE BLEEPING I"M AFRAID

Great report, weird how fish are so predictable, even weirder is how predictable it is that they stop being predictable....lol.

Cheers Glen, lol...by the time i get to where i'm going on the snowmachine the red bull is frozen solid....lol...not boiling it...THAWING IT OUT! Thanks Dan. You should get out there Dara, give thta woodworking a rest for a day....i'm still very impressed by that maple and cherry number though...stunning! Yeah Phish, not very big trout, but non stop entertainment! its pretty good fishing up here..thats for sure Scot yup flasher or graph...makes all the difference! How deep were ya fishing in Haliburton?
-
Your right on the money about entertainment Skud, was fun....still find it odd when i'm putting the video together and think...."i'm sitting in the middle of nowhere in a tent talking to myself"....lol......guess i'll be that drunk guy on a park bench one day...you know...the one swearing at the pidgeons all day. Trout not open where you are? We did that last year , was fun. We are gonna try again this year. But if ya wanna get out sometime without the crowd too im up for that as well. There are a couple of other "tobans" i know from the iceshanty.com website....they plan to hook up with us this year too....might be Feb on Shoal Lake for whities. Happy new year to you too Jacques......i'm cooking the trout under the grill at this very moment. there's that scarily big word again..... Cheers Corvette.

Hi all, Finally got out for some Lakers, its been a usual thing for me to get out Jan 1st for opener, but -40c and the head cold from hell and family stuff delayed me by a WHOLE 4 DAYS! nearly killed me....lol. So....got a window of opportunity yesterday afternoon.....and i can get to the trout lake by sled right from our house....I'M OUTTA HERE! Set up pretty much where i fished last year....65 FOW, various spoons, tube jigs, plain jigs used.....live baits from small to large minnows and some 6" sucker minnows used too....just playing with different styles and presentations....got hits on all the different combinations....fish were not fussy. Tons of smelt on the screen all day....really cool watching a dark orange signal move through the darker blue clouds of bait fish.....come right through and smack my jig just above the bait fish mark....AWESOME. Here's my vid for the couple hours i spent out, missed a few, released a few....kept 2....not much better than that except landing one over 10lbs which i still have not accomplished on the ice or in the boat....maybe this year. NEW YEARS RESOLUTION, WATCHING MY LANGUAGE ON VIDEOS....A COUPLE OF SLIP UPS...HALF BLEEPED

LOL....if it works....WORK IT!

I had exactly the same problem this summer. The trailer connector came off and the replacement only has 4 terminals but the wires from the trailer came as you described. I cant remember which ones i spliced together but i went to CT and cracked open one of their cheap trailer light kits ( the same ones on my trailer) i just drew a little diagram of where the wires went into the connector....went home and spliced em....works fine. I know thats a long way round aND SOMEONE MIGHT CHIME IN WITH AN EASIER FIX, BUT ITS ONE WAY TO DO IT.

Hey Glen..... i hear that Norwich City Football(soccer)Club need a new mascot

I have no idea what compells me to fish. I can remember being fascinated by the water from a very early age. I have memories of fishing from when i was 2 years old. Nobody in my family fishes...at all...its something i was born with.
-
LOL....that makes me feel much better...i can wrap xmas presents better than that staple job! Holy Crap man...cant answer your question but hope it heels well for ya!
-
Fireline Micro ice....regular or the newer 'chrystal' would be my suggestion...i use a micro swivel and have a 2' leader of flourocarbon. Like someone else said....use your summer reel and get a decent rod....but i have about 5 'cheap' combos...in fact i dont own anything else. As for auger...unless you plan on fishing lakes wih 50lbers an 8" will do ya.....a 10" hole freezes just as fast as an 8" believe me....lol Just my 0.02
