  2. Thanks Lew, yeah, having lived most of my life in a country smaller than ontario the distances are still mind boggling for me too.
  3. Hi all, went back to the same spot on eagle lake, only real difference was my buddy paul joined me for the session. Only thing different done to the day before was since i had a buddy with me we drilled a few more holes out to the deeper water...the ice is good all the way across now...averaging around 8-9". I got one small sauger on a jiggin' rap in the deep water....then we slowly moved our way back top the shallows for the evening bite, jigging pre-drilled holes along the way, with no takers. the bite came on from aabout 3-4pm then just turned off like someone had flicked a switch. The most productive hole the day before yesterday was again the 'honey hole', and not being a gentleman i took that hole for myself....lol. In fact all the fish except the one sauger and one that got off for Paul...which would have been the biggest fish (always the way) came out of that hole again. Paul did not get a fish unfortunately ...but he got a walleye supper chez Limey's last night so he cant complain.....lol. EAGLE LAKE PART II

LOL...for a moment i thought you meant i was a native...lol...would not be the first time someone thought that...that is until i open my mouth and speak! Thanks Jacques....yup sport fishing license is 4. Eagle lake has a slot size.....none between 18.1" to 22 or there abouts. I prefer to eat the ones under 18" anyway...better meat and lets the big breeders keep breeding Yeah....seen a couple of the guys on TB fishing forum are already out there.... I fish where the fish are young one...we drilled some holes out in the middle of the channel...not a bite. thanks JDS....you get out icefishing at all?

  8. Hi all, Went down to Eagle Lake for 2 hours this evening to try a different spot from the one that has been pretty slow so far despite being very productive last year. Its a well known spot with easy access some 20 minutes up the road. there were around ten holes already there (not too hard to re-open ) and i set about drilling around 10 more to cover all the options that spot provides. basically there is a bay in one direction and a narrow channel leading to an open body of the lake in the other. The holes there already were where it starts to shallow up to the bay, and i drilled holes in the other direction untill i found 18 FOW wwhich is the bottom of the drop off. Nothing fancy today...just good old jigs and minnows. Got into one right off the bat as so often happens, then nothing for a good 1/2 hour till the light started to fade. All but one of the fish came out ofthe same hole......holes no more than 5 feet away wouldn't produce. The hole was midway down the drop-off at 14FOW. MY WALLEYE SESSION THIS EVENING Might get time to try another spot tomorrow...till then Tight lines Simon

  12. I posted a few weeks back asking if anyone knew where i could buy Power bait Micro tubes (1") as i was having difficulty finding them. I searched Berkely's website and could only find Atomic Tubes...some pre-rigged thingies. I sent berkely an email asking if they had discontinued the original Micro tubes...here's the reply Simon, Sorry, you are correct it is obsolete. Regards, Meechelle Verwey Customer Service Pure Fishing Canada Man that sucks.

  17. Hey waterwolf, i'm pretty sure my local tackle shop carries them, i definitely saw them in either Cabelas or wholesale sports in Winnipeg. If ya like i could see what we could arrange to get one to ya if i do find them, i realise we are a ways away from each other...but where there's a will eh?
  18. Fantastic trout Jay! wow 12" already......its been cold in Winterpeg i take it.....lol. I'm hoping to go for some rainbows for the first time, at a secret lake (lol....not for long, just kidding) somewhere close by to Dryden with a local guy.....i'll try your bait selection...thanks for posting.
  19. put weights at the transducer end to self level.....or buy the ice transducer available for both models. they are both easy to use...but like anything else it takes a little time to get used to. here's a link to an awesome thread on an ice fishing forum....hope mods dont mind...delete if ya have to...i'll understand. click on the link below CLICK HERE FOR X67c set up and use videos.
  20. Excellent post Cliff...thanks for that. I watched that video a couple of years back...its at the forefront of my brain everytime i walk onto the ice, i ven think of it when i'm out on ice thats 2 feet thick. Its like the sargeant on Hill Street Blues always used to say, " and hey....hey.......let's be carefull out there"
  21. AWESOME DIGS LEW, CONGRATS.....beautiful place to live.
  22. good one
  23. I've sent you a PM
  24. I think i can see snowmobile tracks this morning out the front on the lake. Its been -30 C at night for the last 5 days at leaqst. yesterday the lake we were on was 'booming'...scares the cr@p outta ya...but its making ice. I'm actually surprised theree is not more ice thickness, but i'd say apart from the deeper trout lakes round here we are at an average of 5-6" evrywhere else. Still not comfortable just walking out without checking as i go....but will be able to do so by next weekend for sure...i'tll be good for snowmachines by midweek.
  25. I'm not gonna sulk...i'm not gonna sulk.....lol
