  1. WOW! Thats stunning Dara. Beautiful craftsmanship....love the cherry wood.
  2. I had exactly the same problem this summer. The trailer connector came off and the replacement only has 4 terminals but the wires from the trailer came as you described. I cant remember which ones i spliced together but i went to CT and cracked open one of their cheap trailer light kits ( the same ones on my trailer) i just drew a little diagram of where the wires went into the connector....went home and spliced em....works fine. I know thats a long way round aND SOMEONE MIGHT CHIME IN WITH AN EASIER FIX, BUT ITS ONE WAY TO DO IT.
  3. Awesome start to the year Wayne...but i'm jealous as hell..lol. I got a stinking cold/flu so i stayed at home today...had planned to get Lakers too Congrats on yer catches...great start to the new year....oh...and Happy new year to ya.

  5. I have no idea what compells me to fish. I can remember being fascinated by the water from a very early age. I have memories of fishing from when i was 2 years old. Nobody in my family fishes...at all...its something i was born with.
  6. LOL....that makes me feel much better...i can wrap xmas presents better than that staple job! Holy Crap man...cant answer your question but hope it heels well for ya!
  7. Fireline Micro ice....regular or the newer 'chrystal' would be my suggestion...i use a micro swivel and have a 2' leader of flourocarbon. Like someone else said....use your summer reel and get a decent rod....but i have about 5 'cheap' combos...in fact i dont own anything else. As for auger...unless you plan on fishing lakes wih 50lbers an 8" will do ya.....a 10" hole freezes just as fast as an 8" believe me....lol Just my 0.02

  13. Awesome Wayne! Certainly is a spooky feeling on less than 8" of ice. I'm drooling over your fishfinder.....man is that ever sweet. Come on man...surely an HDS fishfinder deserves the $90 expense to buy a proper 'iceducer'? Top report...... Thanks man Here's to many more Ice reports..
  14. Fantastic Steve! Sounds like an action packed 3 hours....was laughing out loud about "something about xmas eve ", full credit for pulling yourself away....i would have struggled to do that. Well seemed like a long time coming...but glad you're feeling better....lol....its a killer waiting eh? Looking forward to more reports....you either need to remember to take your camera or buy one Best wishes for the new year Simon
  15. Hi All, went out today with my buddy Lew, all the toys came out today...and we headed to Dore lake in search of Whitefish and walleye. The plan was to try a few spots early for whities before the evening walleye bite.....but it took way to long getting in and we only had a few minutes to look for whities before heading to our walleye spot. It Has really dumped snow the last couple of days...upto 2 feet deep on the trail in....we effectively broke trail. Snowdrifts on the lake in some points were as deep as 3', and thew wind was howling at around 20kmh. To make things even slower going it was a balmy -4 C today, the snow was heavy and wet because of the mild temps, so i broke trail and Lew followed on his 4x4. ALL THE TOYS CAME OUT TODAY Today we looked for a deep part of the lake and found the break...sure enough...there they were, at the transition point in deeper water 25'-33' FOW...not unlike where you find them before the ice arrives fall fishing. I have been having the best results with 3"-5" dace or sucker minnows...its been like walleye candy from around end of October, the walleye still have the feed bag on and are trying to pile on the weight for a long cold winter. I am fast becoming a convert to jigging raps, and williams spoons , ive been getting them to bite agressively on these (around the 2" size). i'll break the head off a medium minnow and attach the tail bit to the back hook of a jigging rap...looks like an extension of the lure...only juicy and real...tail gives it a good motion too when hooked just so (this also works killer for Lakers) On the spoons i dont tend to add any minnow but now and again i'll attach just the head. an 1/8 jig and minnow has been good too, i have been hooking them just behind the dorsal fin this year instead of in the mouth, through the gill and across the back....i've been catching way more fish this year hooking the minnow like that. We are allowed two lines so this year that has been my dead stick...1/8 oz jig and great big minnow....and i'm experimenting with different lures on my secongd line...jig...jig...jiggin' away. Anyhoo...here's my usual video diary of this afternoon Shinnanagans....hopefully the bleep outs cover the coarse language at the start....i missed 2 fish....one bit my jiggin' rap, whilst the dead stick line outside the hut was getting dragged in the hole...lol...managed to miss both fish! REALLY NICE COLORS ON THESE WALLEYE....ALMOST BLACK AND GOLD...AWESOME!
  16. UMMMMMM...thats a sauger......don't count. JUST KIDDING!!!!!!! WAY TO GO AMIGO!!!!!!!!!!!!! MERRY XMAS TO YA INDEED
  17. Hey walleye-man, I just read an Artical by the legendary Gord Pyzer. Everything in this article about first ice or early season walleye holds true in my experience.....just today we looked for a deep part of the lake and found the break...sure enough...there they were. Same thing on another lake...at the transition point in deeper water....not unlike where you find them before the ice arrives fall fishing. I have been having the best results with 3"-5" dace or sucker minnows...its been like walleye candy from around end of October....dont be afraid of bigger baits.....the walleye have the feed bag on and are trying to pile on the weight for a long cold winter. Similarly i am fast becoming a convert to jigging raps, and williams spoons , ive been getting them to bite agressively on these (around the 2" size). i'll break the head off a medium minnow and attach the tail bit to the back hook of a jigging rap...looks like an extension of the lure...only juicy and real...tail gives it a good motion too when hooked just so (this also works killer for Lakers) On the spoons i dont tend to add any minnow but now and again i'll attach just the head. Dont forget a 1/8 jig and minnow....always works...i have been hooking them just behind the dorsal fin this year instead of in the mouth, through the gill and across the back....i've been catching way more fish this year hooking the minnow like that. Once again...try a big minnow...we are allowed two lines so this year that has been my dead stick...1/8 oz jig and great big minnow....and i'm experimenting with different lures on my secongd line...jig...jig...jiggin' away. Anyway...here's a link to Gord Pyzers article, GORD PYZER'S ARTICLE Hope this helps. Simon
  18. MERRY XMAS FROM MY FAMILY Send your own ElfYourself eCards
  19. Jds....i'm pretty new to icefishing too....this is my 3rd winter. I also used to only fish the bottom.....same way as i did for walleye...bouncing bottom. Having a flasher will definitely help you...it did me.....you really need to fish the whole water column...especially on a deep lake like Simcoe (not that ive fished it....but i read the posts...lol). As for tube baits......i tried and failed with those for a long time....then last year i started catching with them....my CONFIDENCE.....has grown. I definitely think its just trying stuff out and sticking with it...especially if others have had success. As others mentioned...match the hatch.... the flasher will not tell you what they are eating....but it will tell you what they are not...ie...if they keep inspecting your bait/lure and not taking...maybe change it to something they want. good luck.
  20. My buddy has his fishfinder set on fish ID...with the bleep sound 'on'.....DRIVES ME NUTS! not only is the constant bleeping annoying, like fisherman said....everything in the cone angle shows as a fish. I try to tell him to switch it off but he insists we are sitting on top of hundreds of fish....really?....well we've been here an hour and caught jack......lol. much better to learn how to identify objects without ID on...takes a bit longer to get used to...but once you can (not saying you cant) you'll never wanna have the ID on again.
  21. Sure thing....MPH......would be a blast. Let me know the dates and i'll mark it on my calendar....and bring lots of bug spray!
  22. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....trout season......(drools on keyboard)
