  1. GORD!!!!...Thats not your place is it?
  2. I was just reading about 'crotch lake" on a walleye forum. Did not leave me with the impression there were lots of walleye in the lake, but certainly seems to be a good one for smallies. I think there a lakers in there...if so this could explain the walleye situation, as in my experience fishing deeper trout lakes for walleye is difficult, hard to find 'em, but when you do they are decent fish. anyway...here's the link to the discussion thread, be aware that the thread started in 1999 and has only just got going again. CROTCH LAKE DISCUSSION
  3. Thats what happened to the pickereyes then...lol.
  4. Good going Pikeslayer! Like said before...really nice dark fish. Awesome job putting it back too...many wouldn't
  5. If anyone ever hears me say "Boo Ya".....shoot me !
  6. Did i speak too soon?
  7. Good you have something to get yer boat to the lake!
  8. I'm no expert on boats and have only ever been in aluminium tin pot style tillers on the whole. However, my buddy has a 16.5 G3 tiller with the Yammy 40hp. Really nice boat as far as i can tell. Ive been out in it a few times.....it floats, the 40hp tiller pushes it good (and very quietly) , it is steady in rough water, roomy for 3 adults to fish comfortably. I liked it, its better than mine( except my Terrova is way better than his Powerdrive)but ive never really researched any boats and i only really have my boat to compare it too. In my honest opinion it seems like a solid boat and rides nice.
  9. PASTAFARIAN MUSIC....REGGAE OR RAGGU? <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/l3WPKznFvfk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  10. AWWWWWWWW....cute as a button! They are so precious. I agree with the hands comment....he's gonna be a big lad! Great post Mike...feel free to post more...hint...hint.
  11. Welcome to the board Larry and Phish.
  12. OMG!........ your a surgeon too! Some of those scenery shots are incredible...as for the fish......AWESOME! And Pike has got to be the sweetest little pup ever! Thanks for sharing....always top notch from the 'bunkster'.
  13. AWESOME Mike! What a great day of trolling! I thought the Lamprey was a tag...until i maximized the photo. You promised some nice fish at the start of the season...delivering the goods man! Great post!
  14. Thanks Dan. I have dreams about...ok...i wont go there! I use an anchor so i can do that even when its quite rough......its just finding the fish first....cuz hand bombing a 30lb anchor is no fun...and i dont wanna have to do it too many times in one day....lol They are telling the truth! The irony of my trolling motor situation was not lost on me.....definitely worked in my favour.. in the short term anyway. Thanks Corvy! If i want to arrive and get home with everything (including my nerves) intact....1 and 1/2 hours door to lake. If i'm risking blown tires/ leaky rivets/ and replacing trailer lights....just over an hour. The road up there yesterday was pretty bad...the start of the year was ok...but i dont think they are hauling out of there this year so no upkeep on the road.
  15. I know the regs, the comment about a fish fry was borne out of frustration and anger.
  16. For once i am gonna bite...i'm done with the Musky "nazi" crew . I mean what do you do....you hardly have any posts....i dont see you contributing much at all to the forum...then when you do its the holier than thou musky Bull! Whatever you do dont watch any more of ny videos.....you'll be joining p3ta! Anyway...thanks for the sarcastic advice.....I aint even gonna get into what i think you should do....... the fish swam away...Next time i'll smack the friggin' thing on the head and do a video of the resulting fish fry. Damn....i hate giving up smoking!
  17. Hi all, Went to Lac Seul yesterday, left pretty late as i almost was not going to go, but for once the weather folks got it right and it started to clear up as they had forcast. I'm not one to NOT go fishing because of rain etc....but thunderstorms and wind were my concern...particularly on the big water of Lac Seul. I spent the first hour just chilling and messing around in different bays i'd not fished before....it was not until i caught the first fish that i realised i had broken a new record.....almost an hour without a fish on Lac Seul!!! The fish were big and numerous at my first spot...but as i was straight jigging watching my lure/bait on the fishfinder i could see they were fussy...and it took close to an hour to get one to commit! I moved off in search of more active fish, thinking a less sheltered windswept shore would find the walleye ACTIVELY hunting the baitfish....only to discover my trolling motor did not want to work...or rather did work...just with a mind of its own....suddenly kicking in and out of full power and steering in one direction spontaneously without my command...very peeved is a polite way of describing my thoughts on that matter. Anyway, i decided since i was not gonna fight the wind without the trolling motor i'd anchor up somewhere. I decided to try deep, i thought the fish should be in their summer haunts by now. After a flurry of action from a school of sauger...baby ones...the bigger fish showed up, even got some that were suspended at 10'FOW over 30'FOW and put some average fish in the boat...best being 25". 18. Get youself a portable fishfinder, not only will it allow you to find bait fish (the trout wont be far behind) and mark what depth the trout are roaming...you can find structure and actually watch the trout hit. Watching the trout's reaction to your presentation will tell you lots too....like if they actually like what your offering and also how they want you to serve it to them, generally trout want to chase. I just did a post straight jigging walleye yesterday using my fishfinder....and here's a dsample video of some Laker fishing i did last year...... <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RjaVaoRriSc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I am going to go for lakers in the morning and i have a better camera now...but have a look at minute 1:28 on the above video and my Lac Seul report i have just posted for an idea of what i'm talking about and if i go tomorrow i'll spend some time video my set up and the fish on the screen(lol...hopefully there will be some fish). Hope this helps. Simon. PS...the swivel set up is good too though...just thoght i'd share what works for me and since you said you wanted to jig...this method is a no brainer....if you have a fishfinder.
  19. Dont know if this was posted anywhere before...but found it interesting and a little shocking. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/shutdown.html
  20. Fun post I think for me it depends where i'm fishing.....but wherever it is i dont like "the dreaded skunk", a good day on the water is better than a bad day......yada yada yada!
  21. Nice fish...but i'm more envious of the I-pilot !
