~~~Had another great outting with Slug, chasen Lakers, after fighting the Flu, for 2 weeks it was great to get out. Hit the local Tackle Shop up there, on 169, just south off 118, found all they had were Creek Chubs, big one a little to big we found out later. We spoke to a local Pro, who told us the phishen was hot, and for a few peanuts he tell us where. We got to the area, and got set up, and with in an hour Slug had 15 phish on, but wasn't able to keep them on the Chubs were just too big, and the hooks not hooking up. I was able to land 3, using the smallest Chubs I could find, and hooking them very lightly, had to keep one, bleeding to much, about 1.5 lbs. the other 2 were very slim, and went back down. Finally with the wind howling, and the ice cracking, boy was it noisy out there, Slug was finally able to keep one on Followed shortly with another When we got back to our cars we found there had been a party, and were they in a sorry state
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~Well Slug and I headed out today again to try and get some Whities and Trout, up in the Haliburton area, left my place at 4:00, hopping to get up there for a early morning Walleye bite, but with the Snow, and heavy fog we slowed it down, and were setting line by 7:00, sure enough the bites on for Slug, he had 5 phish on and lost each one, he seems a little lost as to why There was one it won't budge off the bottom, his rod was bent right over, and I thought he was going to snap it, but the phish felt sorry for him and let go of his hook keeping the minnow, he had another big one and sure enough it got off and all he had to show was one very large Whitie scale. My self I had one light pick up, and when I set the hook, I got two turns of the reel and it was gone. Got baited up again, when one of the local, arrive to phish for a while, as we talked for a while, he told us of one he lost during the week, at the hole, says it was a very large Trout, and when he tried to gaff it the hook snapped on him. As we were talking I noticed my left rod waving in the air, looked to the right and just gabbed my right rod just before, it went down the hole, thought it was a biggie, line was peeling out, and it wasn't coming in, then I realized, my drag was too loose, so I tighten it up and put this sweet 161/4" on ice Not to be out done by us visitors, our old buddy, Warren, lands this feisty fella That seem to be it for us, I had 2 more hits during the day, marked bait phish up and down the water columns, marked other phish either on bottom or just off, but the bite was off, by 9:30 nothing more all day
Anyone have any experience with bulk meat orders
oldphart replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
~~~I did the Black Angus route once, they offer you a choise of sides hanging there, at the price they quoted, and it looks real aged. And on the other side of the room is the fresher sides, at a little higher price, and of cource that's the side you want, and pay more for. It still was a great deal with frozen Veggs, and fruit also in the package. A few years ago, in the spring I was up in Woodsville at a farmer aution held every Sat. a guy came to sell some Holteen male calves (7) it was late in the day and he had missed the calf sale, they were going for $11.00 each, but I told him if he wouls deliver them to my brother-inlaw in Port Perry I would give him $15.00 a head for them. We stuck a deal, 7 month later, took them to local meat packers in the area, who took them giving back 4 all nicely packaged up free. And that why I suffer from Gout today, boy do I miss my Beef -

~~~Been to Beaverland, and unless he has done some major work, the place was falling apart, you might want to check out Martin River Lodge. If you want to rough it, try Lake Wichstead that flows into the Martin River, only has a rough ramp. Load your boat, and head up the lake to an island and set up camp.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~Well storm or no storm Slug, Kris, Uncle Ben, and his buddy James and I headed down to Belleville for some BOQ Walleye action. We met up with Kris at the Carra Tackle shop, ran into Hawg Hunter, who let us know what was working, and an area we should try with a very short walk. So away we went Uncle Ben was coming from Waterloo, and was running 45min. behind, so we baited up and headed out, and only got lost twice, but we did make it, wasn't to sure for a while, plow hadn't been down the road yet. The walk was very short, about 150' from shore with 5" of powered snow on top, we stay apart on the walk out Slug punched thr first hole, 4 turns on the auger and he was through, 2.5" over 17'Hummmmmm, okay lets spread out. We got down to phishen, maker phish tight, and off the bottom. Kris put his camera down and said there were some weed clumps, gravel bottom, and he spotted a Perch. That was straight down , our problem there was a strong current dragging our bait away from our holes. I put down a static line with a minnow, and the other line I had a green Pimple, with a stinger, and a minnow, and I sorry Kris and Slug, I caught the first phish again, a 7" Perch, still it's a Phish. Then at 9:00"PHISH ON" a very nice 2.5 Walleye. I took hold of it and dropped it right on the hole, guys you never seen me move as fast as i did to grab it again before he knew he was free, got Slug to take a fast pic, and out the door it went About 20min. later UB shows up with his buddy, and after a quick hello spread out we're sinking, they got down to some phishen Things slowed down to a crawl Kris decide to pack it in and head for his trailer, he mention something about a back lake he was going to try later. A couple of shot of our holes UB, and his bud also decided to move to a spot he had on his GPS he want to try, and 5 hours after I got mind I hear a very strange noise I seldom hear "PHISH ON", come out a see it, open the door a there he was wouldn't shut up for the next half hour. We tried most of our lures, but nothing happen. Slug had 1 hit on his static, and that was it, by 2:30 we packed it in and headed to home, but first let take a break, Slug say and haul for the day. I think some shrinkage happen to mine
