  1. Nice work guys!! Those are beauty fish! Thru the snow, wind and cold, you stuck it out and it paid off. Thanks for the report!
  2. Thanks for the clarification! All these records get confusing after a while.
  3. I heard a story on 680 news this morning....if I remember correctly there was an elderly woman who was rescued from her burning house on an island on Simcoe. The fire trucks couldn't drive on the ice, so they had to go to a landing somewhere...load their gear on smaller vehicles and then drive out there.
  4. I didn't just see an OOS fish on here.... My eyes are closed.....haha That would have been a real huge beauty fish!!! If I actually looked....LOL
  5. Hmmmm.....38 kilograms = 83.8 pounds.<bR><BR> In an earlier thread this year, this one was caught by Gary Hagues. He broke his own record by catching one weighing in at 87 pounds 2 ounces. Here is the news story for that one....<BR><BR> http://www.nypost.com/seven/12062006/news/...eirdbuttrue.htm <br><BR> There are other sites who have the story documented, but this is the only "news" site that had it. Mostly the story was on blogs and fishing sites. <BR><BR> Here is a youtube video showing the weighing of it.<BR><BR> <object width="320" height="240"><param name="movie" value=" name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="320" height="240"></embed></object><BR><BR> At any rate...83.8 pounds is a HUGE fish!
  6. Yeah!!! What Bly said!!! haha
  7. We called both those places earlier in the week...they have no huts available for this weekend...and I believe they have waiting lists as well. Oh well!!
  8. I hang it around my neck and keep it inside my coat until it's time for a pic. I dont have a problem doing it this way. The batteries you use are VERY important. I'm not sure what kind of camera you have, but alkalines will not last at all in the cold. Lithium Ion will work better, but cold affects all types of batteries. There are some things on your camera that may help too.....you can turn off the display when taking a pic (have to use the viewfinder like a regular camera). If the shot is during the day, make sure the sun is behind you when taking the pic, the flash may not need to go off if the subject is lighted properly. Good luck!!!
  9. Wow! Great job out there! Must have been a great feeling landing all those beauties.
  10. Wow...wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. Unbelieveable!!! Thanks fo sharing the link.
  11. Nice report! Great pics too! Glad to see you weathered the cold...not easy in this kind of weather!
  12. Welcome to the board!! Great pics too. Pull up a chair, you'll like it here.
  13. It's not a joke...I'm sure humans are contributing to it. Not to dampen the human factor, we also have to remember that there is a natural cycle to this as well. The earth has warmed and cooled since it's creation. Hence the cyclical ice ages and subsequent warm up periods. Are we contributing? I believe we are. Can we stop it? I dont think so...at best maybe slow it down.
  14. LOL...it's that thick? What did you do? Print out every thread for the past year?
  15. All right...I'll bite... Just you with a little too much time on your hands again?? Or are you guys working on one? If you are, put me down for a subscription....LOL Cliff

  17. Newslink: http://ottsun.canoe.ca/Sports/OtherSports/...497302-sun.html Try ice-fishing licence-free this winter What better time to give ice-fishing a try than at the first winter Ontario Family Fishing Weekend. The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, in conjunction with the Ontario government, are encouraging everyone to drop a line Feb. 24-25. "Many Ontarians enjoy winter fishing as a sport and social activity and parents and others across the province can take this opportunity to introduce children and young adults to the fun of fishing," said MNR Minister David Ramsay. Canadian residents will be able to fish licence-free in any public waters across Ontario on Feb. 24-25. The original concept for Ontario Family Fishing Weekend was presented by the OFAH. During the family fishing weekend, anglers must continue to follow the conservation licence limits set out in the 2005- 2006 Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary. For more information on the family weekend, or if your organization would like to host an event, visit www.familyfishingweekend.com
