Lew... We just talked about this the other day!!! Oh man...when I read this my heart skipped a beat. Thank goodness she is physically going to make it thru this relatively quickly. The memories of this will stay for much longer...as you said. I drive from the burbs to Toronto every day for work. In bad weather, I slow down to under the limit if the conditions warrant it. It amazes me to see the jerks speeding by thinking the road isn't slippery to them or that their actions put people all around in danger. I hope she gets well soon...let her know we all have her in our thoughts. Cliff

I heard on 680 news yesterday that the Canadian gov't was looking at eliminating the penny. Apparently it costs over a 100 million a year to keep it in circulation. The news guy said..."I guess we cant say that's my 2 cents....it's gotta change to that's my nickel"

I think it's great! Especially for younger inexperieced people. It's like making a child wear a helmet when riding a bike and the adult saying "No way, I'm not putting one on". All depends on your own preferences. Awesome idea...thanks for sharing the link.

That is truly wonderful news. I know he's not out of the woods yet, but it's great to hear that things have improved. Our thoughts are with Chris...as well as your family!!!! Cliff and Carole (bly)

Try city hall when they open. If there is a by-law, then municipal law enforcement officers would give them the fine. Unfortunately, the police usually will not enforce by-laws.

Just so I'm clear on this one...I didn't agree with the spearing of this fish. I just posted it out of interest. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge C&R guy and the spearing of a fish to me is unthinkable. Cliff

Here's a news story I found online....guy pulled this sturgeon out of the ice on Lake Winnebago! Here's part of the news story.... "In this photo provided by Darren Horness, Darren Horness of Howards Grove, lays on the ice next to the 72-inch, 102-pound sturgeon he speared Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin. The fish came up within 6 inches of the surface inside his ice shack, he said. About 8,000 fishermen spearhunt sturgeon each year on Lake Winnebago and its upriver lakes. In his seven years, Horness hadn't come close to a fish that big." Full story at: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070214/ap_on_...OJHTL_yDIlsaMYA

I used to work in retail...and one day we had over 50cm of snow over night. I got to the store 1/2 hour late and was the first there. Most of the employees didn't make it in. I had one guy though, who lived about 10km away. He started his drive and got stuck in the middle of the road. Did he go home? NOPE! He had a truck push him to the side of the road and the WALKED 5km in blinding snow to get there. I had to give him a raise after that...LOL.
-
WOW!! Great haul and nice lookin eyes you got there. Hope they are tasty as they look...

I planned ahead...brought some work home and the boss was ok with that. I have a 60km drive from the burbs to Toronto. On a day like this it easily would have taken me 2.5 hours to get there....and 2.5 hours to get back. I was going to take the GO train, but at 630am, they already were experiencing troubles and canceled a few trains. Just checked back now and they are still canceling trains! Glad I made the choice to stay home instead of spending about 5 hours on the road. With the day off, I checked out local rink...about a 2 min drive from home. They had a parent/tot public skate from 10 to 11 this morning, so I took my little one there. It was great! $4.50 for the hour....it was pretty much empty there....3 parents and 4 kids. She had a blast, so it was all worth it.

Brought some work home yesterday, so I'll be working from here! Roads are of course a mess and GO transit reporting delays and one Lakeshore train already cancelled this morning. Not worth the hassle! Now, if I could find a nice wind sheltered place to fish....lol.
