Wow...I took some time to read some of those old posts. It's cool to see some great current members who posted back then. It's hard to believe that bly and I have only been members here for only 7 months...as long as there are fish out there to be caught....and OFC is still on the web, I cant see why we wont be here as well. We've met some great OFC'ers, and look forward to meet many more....

Creek fishing - Not big fish...but at least some fish.
ccmtcanada replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm...that's a tough one.... When the weather cooperates, we are probably out there 5 days a week. Most outings last only 2 hours or so....after our youngest daughter is in bed and sleeping. If the kids are into it, we'll make a day out of it. This past early spring, before the steelhead run, we weren't fishing at all...once the run started though, we'd be out on the tribs maybe 2 times a week.....3 if we're lucky. It'll likely slow down a little...we fish from shore, so once the really warm weather comes and the fish are gone from the creeks and shallows of Lake O, there wont be much for us to go after. So...yeah...we probably fish too much....LOL. It does help though that my wife is into it as much (if not more) than I am.... The great thing is that it doesn't really cost us a lot money...we maybe spend 10 to 20 bucks a week on fishing....and I get to spend lots of time with my wife. -
Nice pic! Did great out there...thanks for the report!

Lake Ontario Report - Pike - May 22nd.
ccmtcanada replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
It was caught at around 930pm...we've seen the odd pike patrolling the area...watched them eat bait fish in the area before. Waters were very choppy and there wasn't much bait fish around, so we weren't sure if big fish were even in the area. We're still hoping the spring walleye make an appearance...would be great to catch a few before they head deep into the waters of Lake O. As for what happened last night...bly more than likely kept it's interest in the area....she was using a spoon. Then when I came through with a crank bait, it was something different.....much like changing lures when what you are using isn't working. -
Nice pics Paul....murder do you say??? ACK! At least you caught some fish...some fish are better than no fish!!! You'll have better luck next time I'm sure!!!
-
You are right about the ulgy factor!!! What a massive fish...looks like it has about 4 of the size carp I catch in it's belly!!!

Glad to hear things are getting better Rick! Also, what few posts you did write, were all about helping some of us who were having problems accessing the board....Double thanks for that now!!!

Bly and I went to find some carp this afternoon...bly wasn't really into it, but went along with me anyways. (we got skunked). Tonight, I was feeling pretty tired and didn't really want to go out...but I decided at the last minute to join her. We had been out all weekend long...seeing a nice pike patrolling an area, but we couldn't get it to bite...so we headed back to see if one of us could conquer the thing. Bly was diligently working an area for about 20 minutes...trying a bunch of things, but nothing...because it was dark out, we didn't even know if the thing was even there. I came along, she said...go ahead...try this area....I said ok...and we agreed we'd leave after this one last cast. Well, dont you know it...start the retrieve...twitch the line the way Snog does (I had never used that technique before meeting him....thanks Snog!!), pause, repeat. Finally...as the lure came closer (Jointed shad rap #7) I slowly retrieved...speeding up slightly and BAM!!! The pike hit my lure. I was still using the great leader Snog gave me this past Friday and this toothy critter didn't get away. There wasn't much of a fight...he was landed in about 2 minutes. Took this quick pic and then back in the water. The measurements were 31.25" long, 12" girth, weighing just under 9 pounds. Bly was a little miffed...this is the second pike I've done this to her...OOPS!! A few minutes later, a little mayfly went straight into my eye and stuck there. Through tears, I asked her if she'd take a look when we got home....she said "maybe"....LOL. Once at home, she is still irritated...she's holding my eye open telling me to look up...look left...look down....when I look down she has a needle in her hand......LOL j/k Anyhow, I'm tired...gotta go to bed....goodnight! (If you dont see any posts from me by 10am tomorrow...send the authorities....bly may have done something rash to me while I was sleeping!!!)

Dont worry...you'll start getting into them soon I'm sure!! I went out and had some serious beginners luck. Managed to bring in 5 in 3 nights. Been out probably 6 times since and been skunked! I have noticed a lot of spawning activities....and I've heard they dont bite then...so hopefully in a few weeks they'll be nice and hungry!!! Good luck!

Wow...now that's what I call a great intro and report! Looks like a great time was had...despite the weather. Looking forward to more reports from you...thanks for sharing!

Great job and nice fish!!! Same thing happened to me the other week...cast out my line and began the waiting game...you know...hours and hours of waiting. I dont have bite alarms....my alarm is my finger around the line near the spool. I cast out, reached down for my coffee and my rod almost flies out of my hands...LOL. They sure are fun to bring in....nice going!

Hey Bernie! Nice job out there...fishing where the fish are is the hardest thing to figure out, but once you do....LOOK OUT!!! I hope you get lots later on, now that your brother found them. Wont be long now until we are sharing a boat up there...cant wait!! Good luck with the fishing...you scoping out pike spots yet for the OFC G2G tourney yet?? haha. Cliff
