  1. When I get home, I rub my hands on the stainless steel sink while washing...I'm just too cheap to go buy the bar....LOL.
  2. I just had to laugh...imagining the scene. For some reason I was thinking the two stooges....LOL.
  3. Actually...I didn't use the new rod...that fishing trip was the day before I got it. The board has been so slow, I didn't bother posting it until now. I'm sure I'll like the convergence though. After playing around with it...feeling the action...I already like it more than the one I broke! Thanks for the tip btw...helped me make my purchase decision. I'll post again when I receive my 5th species for OFAH...getting avid angler status was a goal of mine this year....although I have to be honest...I didn't think I'd have 4 this early in the year.
  4. Well, with the water temps rising, the water gin clear and extremely low, I decided to head out for one last stab at some steelhead. I went to a favourite hole of mine...crept up and peered into the pool....they are very spooky right now. What did I spot? Three steelies....one small and 2 BIG ones, just sitting there. I walked a little upstream...took out my trusty roe, and began a drift. They haven't been hitting anything I've drifted by them lately...flys, small jigs....even live wax worms. As my float entered where I last saw them, my pulse quickened.......suddenly....my float goes down!!! I set the hook expecting a nice fight. Unfortunately, I brought this little rock bass in. Oh well...it was not to be...Difting for another 45 minutes yielded nothing. The trout would actually move out of the way when my bait drifted near them. It measured at 11.25"...quick pic and back in the creek. I wasn't thinking and forgot to take a pic with the ofncommunity.com sign...oh well, I'm sure someone else will catch a bigger panfish for the OFC Tourney. The cool thing is that it qualifies for the OFAH awards. With this little guy, I have 4 of my 5 species needed for avid angler status for 2007! I have a 32" Pike, 28" Steelhead, 34.5" Carp and now this 11.25" Pan Fish. I'm hoping to get at least one Walleye and maybe a Salmon that qualifies later in the year. Anyhow, I think that will close my season on the tribs...what a season...learned lots...and caught a few fish in the process.
  5. I dont think we have to worry about calling this guy for a tow...seems like he took care of any additional business.....you know...with his helicopter sitting at the bottom of the lake and all....LOL.
  6. Rented a boat at Port Perry on Sunday with my wife. Bought the $6 map availabe inside. Fished for 3 hours (from 2 to 5 pm)...nothing..not a bite. Saw some big carp swimming around. Problem is for us, we have no idea where to go....tried some spots on the map...I guess it's just gettin out there and trying.
  7. Wow...that is one FAT carp! Good job...must have tugged the line hard a few times on the way in!
  8. Dont know how I missed this post...but I clearly see the face...and it doesn't look happy!! Very cool picture. I dont have one to add, but I agree...it's like it's watching over the lake....like a guardian. How's the fishing there...you think it's warning the fish of your presence?? LOL.
  9. Nice going! I'll be heading there soon I hope to get me some pike as well.
  10. LOL...was just a Scugog on Sunday...paid 6 bucks for basically the same map..
  11. Wow...22? I'd consider that a great SEASON for me....LOL. Great job out there....awesome pictures and report.
  12. Wow...what a spring season!! Congrats on lots of great looking fish and especially setting some personal bests. Cant wait to see what you bring in during the summer!
  13. Jigit...hey there! Welcome to the best board on the net. My wife, bly, and I were newbies when we joined last fall. We both fished as kids/teens, but then put them down and just recently picked them back up after a 20 year break. This board has been fantastic...helping us out along the way. I went literally from panfish worm/bobber fisherman to one who feels comfortable targeting walleye, steelhead, carp....my goal this year is to learn more about pike and if I'm lucky, muskie. Members here have taken me out on trips on the Bay of Quinte for Walleye, out on the rivers and creeks for Steelhead, and hopefully later this week, I'll be hooking up with one of the boards pike experts! Stick around, contribute when you can, ask your questions....it's a great place to learn! Cliff
  14. Wow...thanks everyone for the words of support...Joey...you are too funny...LOL. Growing up as a visible minority, I've had my share of racial comments. I know that the majority of people are not like that, so I concentrate my life on those people. My post on this thread said it was "somewhat directed at me". I didn't mean to imply that it was explicitly about me. Thanks everyone...the situation has been taken care of...I'm still the happy camper I was before that guy posted his topic. Now...let's just get back to fishing!!! Cliff
  15. Thinking of you and your hubby!! Hope all turns out great...I'm sure it will. Cliff & Carole
  16. Thanks...but what most dont know here, is that we are skunked about ummm...95% of the times we go out...LOL. I've caught 2 incidental Pikes (a 32" and a 34") while Walleye fishing at our regular spots...but that was in late December and early January...not much of a fight. Must be pretty exciting now that the waters are starting to heat up a little!
  17. Great report guys! Lots of great info in it too. You gotta love how the bite can just turn on like that...must have been pretty exciting! Thanks for the pics too....you both took lots of time writing your reports...thanks!
  18. LOL...I felt like him at times...until a nice breeze came across the lake. I think our minnows began to boil though...
  19. I just rented a 14 foot aluminim on Lake Scugog yesterday...it wasn't even that hot out but OUCH....the seats got hit real quick and you could feel the heat rising off of them. The seats were not even a dark colour...I couldn't imagine what a black interior would feel like in July/August on a sunny day.
  20. Have a great trip! Always look forward to your reports....scenery and all....LOL
  21. Rick...I read it...shook my head (as it was somewhat directed at me), and replied. Roy saw it as I was posting and it was gone. My reply (which would have been the first) never saw the light of day....that's how quickly it was taken care of. No need to apologize Rick...you guys cant read the minds of the people posting. I knew right away that that post didn't reflect the members of this great board. I do applaud you and the rest of the moderating team....you are all stand up people, who takes care of business quickly.
  22. Wow...great looking Pike! I think I gotta find me some nice pike spots...all these reports are driving me crazy!!! LOL Nice job out there!
  23. I use 8 to 10 pound on my spin cast reels. Have brought in plenty of 12 to 14 pound walleye on them from shore. I find for me, that fishing shore, the water tends to be clearer (cause I'm fishing in water that's from 3 to 8 feet deep), so having smaller diameter line makes it less visible to them.
  24. I hear you about the boat. My wife (bly on the board) and I are relegated to the shores as well. We have a good time just scouting new places on lakes and rivers to fish...we have had some pretty good luck too! Looking foward to your reports.
  25. Hey Rick... Tried to log in earlier this morning and it mentioned that this site was in the process of moving to a new server. Tried again after lunch and I must say, it's running much faster! I'll have to try at home...where most of the problems have been. I did notice though that the number of people browsing the board is back up to over 200....a big improvement over the past few weeks for this time of day.
