  5. So let me get this straight....all these bozos over 2 days and you didn't catch a single fish? Great report I suppose.... LOL. Hope the motor is ok!!!!!
  6. Sweet pics! I've had a little luck with them on eastern tribs, but have never had a banner day like that before!
  7. Hey Glen...hope you have a GREAT day! Best wishes...hope you get all you want!!! So, how old are ya anyways??? LOL
  8. We told douG back in the fall that we'd take him out sometime Steelheading. We are by no means experts in the field, but we have a handle on the basics. He arrived at our place at 645 this morning and after showing him how to rig, we piled in the car and headed to the trib. I was surprised to see only 1 other car in the parking lot! I figured that because the conditions were pretty good last night that I'd see lots of people out there. Water was a little stained...about 6 to 8 inches visibility. Anyhow, we began drifting close to 8am and for some reason, I was the only one who caught any fish....maybe it's also because douG's waders didn't fit so he couldn't fish on the good side of this particular spot...LOL. Roe wasn't doing a whole lot for me, so I switched up to a white/gold fly and sure enough there were fish in the area! The first one to come in was a little female... Bly and douG were headed to another hole, and as they were walking past on the opposite bank, my float went down again and I got a nice dropback. douG had a great vantage point from the opposite bank....higher up....and he took this pic of me fighting it.... Notice my nice colour co-ordinated look? LOL Here's the fish....nice colours..... I had no intention of leaving this hole quite yet...a few more drifts and this large male... now my PB at 29" came in. This one put up quite the fight...but my 6lb test handled the job quite nicely. We then took a little break for lunch...and tried another spot without any luck. I was really hoping that we could get douG into his first steelie ever....he had a nice hit, but the fish had other ideas. We also finally met fellow OFNer, Kemper...it was great chatting with you...hope you had a good day out there. Anyhow, we had a GREAT morning with you douG...we'll do it again sometime....and hopefully get you into some fish....oh yeah...go get some new waders...LOL.
  9. Great pic disco phish!
  10. Wow...great fish! Great video too...you always pick good music!
  11. Great job and you are 100% correct! I always change up if something isn't working. I always bring a variety of baits and if roe isn't working I'll switch to pink worms or steelhead jigs. The hard thing for me about steelheading isn't just the bait...it's leader length, shot placement, float size etc.... I'm still learning to adjust based on water depth and the speed of the current. Also still learning about where they hide at night, during cloudy days, sunny days...the list goes on.
  12. Ummm...who are those people?
  13. Well, as many of you know, night fishing is when we catch most of our nice fish. I checked out a local trib on the way home from work late this afternoon and noticed that there were a few (emphasis on few), open stretches of water. After we put the little one to bed, we headed off with our float rods to see if we could catch anything swimming around. The waters were ultra clear and pretty low tonight, so we didn't have high hopes. I've been out a few times this winter and had some success, so I was really hoping that she would catch something this time out. At about 920pm, her float goes down and I hear her say "Fish on!!". After a quick fight, she landed her first of the year....a nice 25.5 inch steelie...also her first qualifying OFAH entry as well. Here's the pic...can you tell she's happy??? LOL
  14. Yeah, well, I suppose it's an occupational hazard to you...hehe.
  15. When private brands get enough awareness, and if the quality is there, then there will be a trend to phase out national branded products. The margins on private label stuff is considerably higher, and as someone else already mentioned on this thread, they are probably made in the same factory as the big named ones. Bass Pro is probably betting that people will still buy their stuff....the small customer base they might lose will be made up in the extra margin.
  16. It's called R&D Rip off and Duplicate
  17. This boat only cost me $2300 (including 18hp motor and trailer).....5,000 could go a LONG way, PLUS get you some other fishing equipment......LOL. See...making you think aren't I??? LOL.
  18. This is looking stupid....I thought I had a salmon in this pic....not a boat per se....it's a canoe.
  19. WOO HOO!!! BIG FISHIES....BIG FISHIES!! Thanks...I needed that!
  20. WOO HOO!!! BIG FISHIES....BIG FISHIES!!!
  21. I find you are pretty soft spoken Scott. If you didn't type in caps, I might not hear you.
  22. I work in Advertising for CTC..... Sale start dates vary across the country. It all depends on local newspaper distribution for the flyer as well as what the "norm" is for your area. For instance, if a market has only a Sunday weekly local newspaper, then the sales will normally start on Sunday. Most of Canada starts the sale on Saturdays....however, MOST stores will have the sale set up and the sale prices active on Friday evening.
  23. I don't bring my dog fishing so can you tell me? LOL. I'm only kidding, I rarely ice fish... Great intro report and pics! Welcome to the board...hope you enjoy your stay!
  24. You know what? I've seen these out takes before, and I still laugh when I see em!!!! Thanks for posting!
