  1. Light? Who needs light? Our roe is special blend...stinky enough that any fish can find it.
  2. LOL...dont forget we have a 16 year old daughter who babysits (if you can call it that when the little one is in bed already)....perhaps I should start mentioning that in my reports as well....
  3. Oh man Shawn....that sucks!!!! I hope your car turns up with all your stuff in it still...and they throw the book at the person who stole it!!!!!!
  4. With the rain coming on Tuesday and Wednesday, along with temps above freezing, the tribs will be nice and blown and likely not fishable until the weekend, so we decided to head out tonight to try our luck. The waters were slightly above normal and tea stained, with about 6" of visibility. We put our little one to bed and off we went...we drove a little further than we normally would, hoping to have some success. About 20 minutes after we arrived, bly was having some line issues, so she stopped fishing for a few minutes....and of course, my float goes down while she's taking her break. I set the hook and the fish goes crazy...for about 20 seconds, then it came in nice an easy. About 10 minutes later, bly says "Fish ON!!", and she gets a nice little guy...eater size, but was released to swim another day. Thinking this hole was done for a while, we headed off and tried a few other locations, without any luck. Bly had to re-tie a bunch of times after snags, and I was having no luck at all. We decided to head back to our original location to see if there were more fish there. Bly had to re-tie again, and was contemplating even rigging back up again. She decided to do so and began drifting again. My float went down...missed hit! Then the tables turned...I had a break off and since we were going to leave in a few mintues, I decided not to re-tie. Well wouldn't you know it...bly has a hit...sets the hook and the fish gets off. She brought her line in...gave the pool a break for a few minutes while she put a fresh roe bag on. Sure enough, it goes down again and the fight is on. This fish was bigger than her last and went crazy! It even swam right at her like it was shot out of a gun, but she managed to keep the fish on. Here it is.... So, all in all, we had a great night out there. She went 2 for 3 and me 1 for 1. The only saving grace for me, even though I was outfished was that I had the biggest fish...LOL. That's probably it now until at least the weekend...if the tribs are even fishable.
  5. LOL...too much info....but LOL A lot of married guys reel with their left too...even though they are right handed..... This will be an interesting poll.....
  6. I am right handed and reel with my right hand as well. My first setup was a kids spincast combo. The handle was on the right side. I got so used to it that I've always felt more comfortable reeling with my right hand. Some have told me it's easier to fight fish using your dominant arm, but since I play piano and guitar, the strength is pretty much equal in both arms/hands.
  7. You guys are still talking about your boat motors right?
  8. Good luck! Just remember that Pike on Lake O closes on March 31st and reopens on the first Saturday in May.
  9. Nice going Glen! That tree with leaves on it though....I almost forgot what that looked like! Thanks for all the pics... Here's hoping that my motor made it through the winter! I figure in about 4 weeks I'll try to start her up again....LOL.
  10. Congrats on a great day out there! Glad to see you hooked into some!
  11. Great report Joey! You guys got out a lot this winter and you have the great results you enjoy. Sounds like you had a fun day, and the weather looked like it cooperated for you! That's a pretty cool vehicle...something like that may get out on the ice a little more often....LOL.
  12. A mind ninja?? LOL...never heard that before. I was wondering where you were! Water levels in my local swim are recovering...hopefully some nice carp will work their way back this spring....maybe we'll see you out here again at that point!
  13. Your reports start out Trying or Tried fishing Lake Ontario. From what I can tell, you are doing a heck of a job doing catching while you are out there! It's amazing seeing soft water reports on the big lake. Congrats on another great outing!
  14. Great report!! Good to see you getting out there on the ice and getting down to business. You're little one is very cute and will no doubt be outfishing you soon enough!
  15. Plenty of room for a surf rod in there!!!
  16. Wow...I didn't even know we had a recipe section!
  17. Just post those blurry pics...we'll never know when you actually caught them. Sorry to hear the news Glen! Hope it's not too painful on the wallet to get this all fixed up.
  18. So, I have a better chance at catching fish in water than I do hunting birds, since there is less water than air? Cool.
  19. Sweet fish and nice surprise!
  20. The first step is admitting you have a problem....you've finally registered....this addiction called OFC is a pretty powerful one. Welcome to the board...since you've been reading a while, you already know lots of us I'd assume. Looking forward to your reports!
  21. Glen...you of all people making fun of a blurry picture???
  22. And that's what it's all about! Some real nice fish there!
  23. Sounds like you had a great time down at the show TJ....all your hard work (and that of everyone involved in the day-to-day operations of this site) has really paid off....and frankly it's great that you are getting some kudos in the industry about it! Enjoy your sushi...that's what we had for dinner as well.
  24. Wow...at least your truck has been saved! Our ABS light comes on when we get heavy rains or prolonged fog. Once it dries out, it should all function again normally. Are you sure the stereo amp is fried...maybe you got lucky and you blew a fuse. The fuse may not be in the fuse panel...check the wiring on the amp, lots of times there will be an inline fuse.
  25. Wow...thanks douG! It was our pleasure to have you join us today...and the invite is a standing invitation...just let us know when you have a little time and would like to get together! I'd love to get you on your first steelhead soon! Sydney had a great time....and was asking me how to do that finger trick long after you left....LOL. And Spiel...you have it right too....douG is a great guy....we got to know him a little at Lakair last summer and we were room mates at the Quinte G2G. And thanks for over riding the profanity filters....haha. Until next time douG!
