  1. That would be Monique...TJ really has no idea what's going on.....LOL
  2. Depends on the moon...the moon is your friend when night fishing. You're bait is silhouetted so the fish can see it. Trout see red VERY well, so avoid wearing that as well....although it's not as important at night....may as well have any advantage you can get.
  3. The only suggestion is to keep a some bug spray...just in case the mosquitoes decide to hatch!!! You seem to be pretty level headed and the common sense things have been mentioned....like avoid fishing alone, lights, walking stick. Extra batteries for the lights, hand warmer if it gets cold....other than that, you're good to go. Good luck out there.
  4. I'll be looking to get out for some Lake O pike east of Toronto soon as I don't know of any places out my way. I've seen where they hang out in TO spots, so I'll be looking for similar habitat. Namely....fish in 3 to 8 feet of water, structure and baitfish. Keeping that in mind, I'll be investigating things like marinas, shorelines etc.... I have humminbird's castable fish finder that I can use to find depth. Chest waders may just give you the distance from shore needed to hit those kinds of areas. Again, I'm not looking for anyone to tell me spots....I find it more rewarding to do the legwork and find the fish. Good luck everyone!
  5. Great report and pics....congrats on a successful opener!
  6. Hey...I told the fish to hold it, but it wasn't cooperating....
  7. Wow...those are SWEET looking....taking them up north with you I assume???
  8. Great stuff!! I drift using roe at night.....as far as leader, I'll go to 6lb floro and 8lb mainline. Next time bring your camera....LOL.
  9. You mean fish for carp during the day? Never tried that before...are you sure you can catch them then??? LOL. Weekends are tough for us....especially that far away....good luck out there guys!
  10. Hey Tim...I was in your position last year with the Steelhead. Went out a bunch of times, lost a bunch of fish, learned each and every outing out. I predict that next season you'll have plenty of trout under your wing. Nice intro...welcome to the board...you have any pics of your catches?
  11. Hey Al! Great intro...hope you can get out there for some soft water this year....that's a nice perch and pike there in your pics! Welcome to your new addiction.....hehe.
  12. He said SNAG...not SNAP....it's not all about you ya know.
  13. Great report Mike! Looked pretty rough out there....a little reminiscent of the G2G back in November! Congrats on your tourney entry as well....although I'm sure you'll be beating that size many times over before the end of the year.
  14. Ahhh who cares about the 2008....those are nice fish!!! Congrats on a great opener...I'm looking forward to hitting the islands in the next week or two....try to leave some fish for me ok???
  15. That's pretty good fishing considering the conditions! That last pic there is great...nice fat pike there. Congrats on a great opener!
  16. Wow....a 30 pounder! Nice fish Dave!
  17. Wow....you've been busy! Looks great and I'm sure your hard work will be well worth it. So...now that all the home reno is done, are you looking forward to extensive cottage reno too?? LOL. Hope you get some fishing time in there bud!
  18. SWEET Ride! Sorry to hear about the issues with the motor and the truck, but hey...it's a SWEET ride!!!
  19. I apologize now if you've already seen some of these pics from Big Cliff's thread, but if you haven't, here's a few from today. After a bunch of us got Big Cliff's dock in place, my little one couldn't wait to get out there to brave the wind and cold to catch a few from there. Her line was in the water for mere seconds when she landed her first rock bass of the year...she was excited to catch this one!! A few more came in as well....one perch was a pretty decent size too! We left Big Cliff's and started to head home...but Sydney wanted to catch some more fish so we headed for her favourite shore spot on Lake Scugog. Here she learned how to lip a fish...in preparation for some largies or smallies later this summer....and she was fascinated with releasing them as well... After we got home, Bly and I decided to head out to see if the carp were swimming around...and we were not disappointed! I got a little one (in comparison to Blys!!). It came in at 31"...and is my first entry for the tourney! I forgot my team sign, so we had to write this one up quickly! Bly, not to be outdone, went and landed her PB carp...and monster at 37.5" and 25 pounds. This one took a while to get in...it stayed deep all the way in and really tested her skills...especially since it was pitch dark out....anyways...here's the monster! All in all, we had a GREAT Sunday....hope the weather holds up....would love to get the boat out next weekend.
  20. I would have posted pictures earlier....but Sydney wanted to check out her favourite fishing spot on Lake Scugog before we headed home. We just got in the door now! Anyhow, we had a GREAT time up at Big Cliff's place today. Thanks to everyone who made the day a great one....and for those who patiently listened and played with Sydney. She can't wait to go and visit again....and wanted to go back tomorrow to have a bath in that great tub....LOL. We've been invited back for a day or weekend visit, and we'd love to take Cliff up on his offer. As Cliff said, the day was windy and cold...we didn't get a final picture of the dock in, but here's a few from when we were working on putting the frame in the water.... Here's a picture of Andy...what a great dog! After the dock was put in, lunch was served...and we all had a chance to chat for a while....that is until Sydney kept on bugging me to get out there to fish! After a worm was attached to her hook, her line was casted out there and after about 10 seconds, she hooked into the first fish... She caught a few more perch....this one being the biggest... It was great meeting up with fellow OFNers....nice talking to each of you! My memory will probably fail me, but here's a quick list of all who showed up.... Tracker (Don), b2kptbo, Beans and Marybeth, 4reel and his wife Michelle, JeffW, Jeff and Adrienne (TangledLines), Jack (Nanook) and Ecmilley (Who showed up after the work was done....LOL). Here's a few pics from Scugog....she learned two key things today... How to lip a fish... And the proper release procedures.....
  21. Levels here are up about 30cm in the east end...if you have to travel far, I'm not sure I'd even bother.
  22. Very cool pics!
  23. Wow...what a great start to the season for you! Some real nice sized Walleye there. Congrats.
  24. During the dinner hour, the winds picked up....things were blowing all around and we had a really good downpour! A good downpour always brings up the worms from the yard. Since we are headed to Big Cliff's in the morning to help put in his dock, my little one is all excited to fish there. After dinner, we put on her raincoat and went to see if there were any worms on the driveway....and we were in luck! Here are a few pics from our worm picking expidition. Some are a little on the small side, but a little worm food and they will be perfect for trout!
  25. What a great report! Congrats to Michelle on her first of the season....a great looking fish for sure! Good to see you stopped to take in the scenery and took the time to take some pics to share. Thanks....great job out there!
