  1. You're such an elitist.....
  2. Great report and pics! Don't worry bout the tourney sign....I have a feeling you'll be pulling bigger ones from that spot in the near future!
  3. Wow!! Fantastic report! I suppose the only way it could have been better would be the weather, but hey, look at your results! Congrats on an amazing trip....you are the hero now to the group....
  4. Yep, this sounds plausible for sure! Much better than the columnaris thing....since they didn't find any in Scugog carp. Thanks for the update Photoz!
  5. Way to go!! They put up a pretty good fight on ultralight gear don't they? Looks looks you had a great time out there. Congrats!
  6. What a great night last night. The waters were calm, the winds cooperated, it could have been a little warmer, but the fish were biting! Bly and I have been frequenting our spot and have seen a guy down there fishing over the past month, so we began chatting. Turns out he just moved to our area and didn't know very many fishing spots. He's a bass guy, but is just as happy to catch anything that swims. He saw us carp fishing once and was pretty intrigued with the setup, so we told him that anytime he wanted to target them to come on over. Well, last night we set him up with a feeder, hair rig and boilie and showed him where to cast. The three of us had our lines in the water, but Bly was the first to land a fish. It was smaller than her average, but still a thrill to fight and bring in. Here is it...28 incher. Fishnsled has been trying to join us, but work kept getting in the way. He called around 9pm last night to find out if we were still there and he decided to finally come out and fish for these big, ugly fish!! Fishnsled arrived around 930ish and I set him up with gear and we chatted ..... catching up since the last time we saw eachother. Our new friend was next up....I suddenly hear "I GOT ONE!!" and the fight began! He handled it like a pro, and here he is with his fish.... He's hooked on carp fishing, so we told him to keep the feeder and he now wants the recipe for the ground bait. Then the fun began!! I really wanted Fishnsled to get into a BIG carp. They are ugly fish....not the most glamourous species, but I think they are a lot of fun to fight. Anyhow, about 20 minutes after his line is in the water, he says that he's got a fish on and the fight begins!! He expertly handles the fish, Bly nets it and here is his PB carp by length...coming in at a BIG 35" and weighing 18.5 pounds...not bad by anyones standards!! Love the smile on his face....I had troubles taking a pic with his eyes open....LOL. After releasing that fish, he looks at us and says "Now that was FUN!!!!!!!". He was pretty surprised at the fight I think. Anyhow, I check his rig and leader and all is fine....it was even nice enough to leave his boilie, so his line goes back in the water. It's now coming up on 11pm, and we begin to pack up, but we tell him to leave his line in the water. I reel my line in and he is about to do the same. While I'm packing up my chair, I look over at him and there's a bend in the rod. He hasn't said anything at this point. I finally say "Do you have a fish on there?" and he says "YEP!!!". I couldn't believe it. Here's a pic of him fighting what would become his PB by weight now. The fish finally comes in....weighing 21 pounds!!! He caught 40 pounds of carp in about an hour and a half..... After landing that one, Fishnled says "Ok...I gotta get me some carp gear...where do you get your stuff?" LOL. All in all, it was great to catch up with him....and the best part is that we got two friends on some nice carp. Normally when we invite people to fish with us we all get skunked. This time it was only me who was skunked, but it was well worth it seeing the smiles on everyones face. I was having a blast out there. Oh yeah Will, next time, you'll bait and cast your own setup and you can bring your own rod and reel too....oh....and I'm taking my hotspot back...
  7. You can't transport live fish...unless you get a permit of some kind.....other will have more info I'm sure.
  8. Cool...thanks for the number! I'll give them a call and find out for sure before I head out there.
  9. I was at the Port Perry launch this past weekend and the docks were not in yet. Any word on when they plan on doing so? I may hit that area this weekend at some point. Thanks!
  10. Gonna check some some Lake O harbours for some Pike on Saturday with Bly. If the weather holds up then it's off to Lake Scugog for some panfish with the kids!
  11. Congrats! I'll always remember my first as well. I find walking the tribs and drifting very relaxing. The first fall/winter/early spring I did it, I actually lost 10 pounds over that time period, instead of gaining 10 like I did in the past!!
  12. Is the point here that as soon as they catch and keep, it goes towards their limit and they MUST stop fishing once that has reached? I suppose in a round about way if mostl anglers kept their limits and continued to catch and release that fish would be spared. Or did I miss the point?
  13. Wow....what a story. I'd look at it this way....you sacrificed a lot to that harbour....the next time will be golden. Or...just give up now....LOL. Hope the knee is ok!
  14. If you look in the zone exceptions, you'll see Frenchman's Bay listed as zone 20. The exception is noted for using 2 lines, but the inclusion in the list tells me it's zone 20. All waters of Zone 20, including the Niagara River (downstream of Niagara Falls). The following waters are excluded: Jordan Harbour, Hamilton Harbour, Toronto Harbour, Frenchman's Bay, Murray Canal, Presqu'ile Bay, Weller's Bay, East Lake, West Lake, the Bay of Quinte (the waters lying west of the Glenora Ferry), the St. Lawrence River (waters lying east of Bishops Point and the easternmost tips of Howe and Wolfe islands), and all other tributaries to Lake Ontario.
  15. Towing was a big issue for me. I have a Honda CRV with a towing capacity of only 1000 pounds. The 16 foot boats I looked at and the slightly bigger motors would have put me too close to that for my comfort. (Once you add a few batteries, gear etc.) The total cargo weight would also be an issue for me when I'm towing the boat with 4 people and camping gear. If it was a newer model, I may have taken the chance...but mine is a '98 with 290,000 kms on it. Eventually, once the CRV is gone, I'll get a bigger vehicle and I'll be looking for a 16 footer for sure!
  16. Yeah...what fish finder said....they always offer a free one to my dog and they fire someone for giving ONE to a little kid? Jeez...I maybe get 2 coffees a week from Tim Hortons....that's gonna go down to zero now.
  17. Some dropbacks may still come back down the tribs to the big lake, but it's pretty much done until fall.
  18. My father in law was also diagnosed with sleep apnea a few years ago and he was fitted with a CPAP machine. He mentioned it took a good week or two to get used to it, but now it's made a huge difference in his life. If you do try it, I'd suggest keeping at it for at least that long. If you cant sleep well with it at first then you're no further behind than you are now....that is chronically tired. I hope you get all this health stuff sorted out buddy....I only with I could do something to help out!
  19. Another great pike report from the master! Your son is growing up fast!!! He's looking pretty close to accompanying dad on some weekend excursions. Sweet lures too... step up from the dollarama lures (not that there's anything wrong with them....LOL).
  20. Wow!! You're all set....that's some sweet stuff you got there!!! Happy birthday by the way!
  21. Great stuff...this community comes through for someone again!! Hat's off to Meely and everyone else who tried to help out!
  22. Great to see you are leaving where you left off last year catching great pike on the Islands!!! Congrats on a great day of fishing...both to you and your girlfriend.
  23. Wow Peter...as a relatively new guy on this board, when I went to Lakair last year, I knew you by board name and that's all. At first glance, you looked a little rough around the edges....someone I likely would have never met or talked with if it wasn't for this board. Over the past year, I've witnessed your kindness and your generosity....with other people as well as myself. You PMd me your phone number and told me to call you so you could give me tips on catching salmon from piers. You went out of your way to make sure we were well equipped for the BOQ G2G last year....and the list goes on. Thanks for the insight into your life...it's a real eye opener...you are good friend to have.
  24. I'll add "net" No....not for Steelhead....I meant a goalie.
  25. Two of the things I took into account were: - Will it fit in my garage....my 14 footer just fits in my single car garage. A 16 footer may fit in but I'd need a swing away tongue - What can my vehicle tow? Alum is lighter than fiberglass....bigger boat may mean bigger motor etc...
