  2. last summer we went to golden beach resort and rented a boat for a few days and had a blast, so we decided to get a fishing boat for the family, my bro also has an rv so we thought this would be a perfect compliment to it. we looked and looked and found a sylvan 16 deep v, live well, lowrance x 96 and foot controlled bow trolling motor with a 25 horse tiller on the back. was really happy to have the extra room of the tiller and be able to keep the kids on the lower deck if the waves are a little bad. well we took it to island lake reservoir to get some fish slime on it, my step son, niece and nephew are all on the way to fishing by themselves except baiting and unhooking, they are recognizing the bite and when they have a fish on...they were doing so well my bro and i actually had time to sit and enjoy the long weekend as we watched them catching.not that we didn't pick up a rod and hit some double headers also.
  3. Well I read on here that some members took their kids to Golden Beach Resort and found it was a great place for a 1st camping trip. We packed up the car with our tents, sleeping bags, fishing rods etc and headed for our 1st family camping trip. We arrived the 1st night and set up and had a camp fire, roasted marshmallows, made smores and booked a boat for the next 3 days. We headed out for our 1st fishing trip with a brand new ugly stick for the boy that we needed to break in, we just set up in the weeds and picked on the panfish and he kept on getting better and better. The following days were much of the same but more and more fish, the highlight had to be looking over at the boy struggling with a crappie which ended up joining us for a late night snack over the campfire, it overshadowed my 22" walleye (released of course) that i fought for what seemed an eternity on my bobber and light tackle and barely fit into our panfish net.
  4. i have never camped on rice or scugog but was hoping to hit rice with my family this year and found this website, hope it helps. http://www.ricelakecanada.com/amenities.htm
  5. you can try al,(not me) he had rentals last year. mind u if those are the times you are fishing chances for any eyes' or crappies are low. it's a twilight bite usually ,better to be there ready when the sun hits the trees. Contact: AL 905-986-9699 or [email protected]
  6. Went down to Dunnville to try to get us some of them big cats, was a slow but beautiful day not many people from shore catching, we managed a couple towards the evening. here's the vid.
  7. went out on a day where most people would have stayed on the shore......cleats on ducking down to overcome the wind....good thing we stuck to the bay.lol....here's a snapshot of our day http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll285/s...oksBayPikin.flv http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll285/s...yPikinVOLII.flv
  8. well I was driving home from work thinking wow what a beauty of a day when my phone rang, as soon as my friend said he was already home from work and what are you doing today i knew what he wanted to hear......going to slam some fish with u. here's the vid http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll285/s...nt=740174d5.pbr
  9. January 11, 2009 Well we decided to shift our focus to walleyes and put the perchin on hold as the season suggests. What better way to start with a trip for trophy eyes' then with a guide, well the call was placed and the arrangements were made and by bringing my girlfriend a special sunday fishing day was arranged. We met hawg hunter and fellow guide bill at the timmies and picked up bait and headed out on the cold atv ride to the fishing grounds.. hawg hunter set us up first on the ice and drilled our holes and showed us how to jig and went to retrieve bill .. we were jigging away and marking fish.. but could not get them to bite. we heard the atv about 5 minutes later and bill was knocking on our portable hut in no time, to drag my girlfriend to his hole where he had already pulled out two 'eyes' .. hawg hunter seemed to be moving around trying to find the fish, while bill stayed with us and proved there were fish under us by pulling out 2 more 'eyes' throughout the day... he was persistent in showing my girlfriend how to properly jig a spoon to attract and trigger the walleyes.. she had a few bites but was unable to seal the deal.. i however managed to land my first walleye of the day just a bit after sundown, followed by a jumbo perch minutes later.. As the guides loaded with these fish, to help reach our limit.. You could tell they really wanted to help my girlfriend catch her very first walleye.. and they did ...... January 31, 2009 Headed out to my uncle's place on Lake Scugog for an afternoon fish, a night's accomodation, and a morning bite. Dropped off my grandmother to spend time with her son.. as my girlfriend and I headed out on the ice for about 2 pm.. Tough conditions for walking and drilling, but made it past the huts, and got our holes down and the hut set up.. started off by catching a bunch of dinkie perch, and thought this is where the walleye would come to feed for an evening bite.. sat in the hut and was marking the time and jigging away as the sun was setting.. i tell ya if my girlfriend wasn't so cute i would of thought that was bill jigging beside me... cause i've seen him land fish.. and the results were the same....here's the vid http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll285/s...nt=3baca618.pbr
  10. guilty as charged....so again where are these spikes that sting
  11. hi, i usually decide on a lake that i know has a good rep then use this site to find a campsite close to it....i'm sure there are other websites too if u do a search. http://www.campgrounds.org/index.cfm?member=opca
  12. so far on the grand i have caught smallmouth bass, mooneye, catfish and sucker....had a carp on but lost it. there are bait restrictions on certain parts of the river and all catch and release but i think that is further down river...make sure to check. seems everyone i pass has chest waders and some sort of minnow catching net ,access seems good as i see tons of shore fishermen....downstream of the rapids and deep holes seem to produce. bottom of dams are very busy, hope this helps.....have heard there are crappie and walleye too but have yet to get one on......rent a kayak or canoe and do the glenn moris to paris if u like some excitement if the fishing is slow the swifts keep u busy, maybe not a good trip if u have never paddled.lol
  13. met up with some hardwater buddies for some fishin in the morn, picked up the pikeslayer and tossed his kayak in the minivan and even got the rear door closed, headed over to the pikemasters place and got the little crafts set up and launched. my buddy in his kayak said the look on my face was priceless as the canoe worked over the waves, being in the front of the canoe was already a weird feeling nevermind not being the guy who decides which way we handle the waves. took a while to get comfortable but we handled the rollers just fine once we were accustomed to each other movements and before we new it we were boating litlle bass and an assortment of panfish. the pikeslayer was 1st to bring in something other then panfish with a nice largie, i was next with a very nice smallie in the 19' class as the pikemaster kept boating some really nice pumpkins and bluegills and never took his slip float off all morning.....he backlashed his baitcaster t'other night and hasn't got it cleaned up yet.lol we stayed out till the sun decided to join us and the rollers started to cap a little, then as time was running short we decided to head her in a nice morning too bad they don't live closer to a smaller lake, lol.
  14. hey i use glenwoods ave by keswick or osbourne by roaches or gilford road...by gilford...mind ya that's in the winter but i have launched on softwater off of gilford and plenty of bigger boats launched off of there that day.
  15. headed to brant park again for more canoeing/fishing , since i used my cousin as a guinea pig on the 1st adventure i decided it was suitable for my girlfriend. 1st day we put in at brant park and headed down to cockshutt bridge, 1st adventure was catching carp in the park. I landed one 1st then my gf got on board with her 1st also before we decided to move on. we then tried at the bottom of the swifts and came into some small bass, we played with them for a while before we dedcided to move on and finish our trip. the next day we went to the bottom of the dam to try our luck before we headed to do the fun glen morris to paris run, when we got to the dam there were a few people fishing but the only thing being caught was bottom. as we started to rig up another couple came to fish, we started chatting and comparing notes with what our gf's will and won't do when it comes to fishing and we both decided that our gf's will always outfish us if we keep baiting and unhoooking for them.lol well his gf and him put on a clinic and i was sittting front row, he was nice enough to let me use his minnow net and before i knew it i had a good amount of minnows for our trip and while i was gone he was unhooking my gf's fish too...i bet he never caught a fish while i was gone.lol we then did the shuttle and then put in and hit the rapids, we fished the bottom of each rapid and used the same pattern as we learned at the dam from the couple that put on the clinic.......well as we sat at the bottom of one productive rapid i watched my gf put on a clininc of her own, i would say she had a fish on about 40% of her casts and everytime another canoe or kayak came by and asked how the fishing was i would just say watch her rod and she always pulled a fish in as people paddled by. this was her best of the day and her pb smallie, well i guess so since this is her 1st time fishing off hard water. we then hit the take out lifted the canoe up the stairs ,unloaded the gear out of the boat and just as we were about to load it into the car we came to the scary realization that the keys to our 2nd vehicle were in the glove box of the 1st car 20km away. DOH well i saw an outfitter loading up a ton of canoes and thought maybe they had another run coming down from the put in before dark and i could pay for a shuttle up, turned out he didn't have another trip coming down from glen morris and didn't offer a shuttle since they only do guided trips, however this guy was so nice and gave me a ride back to my car. i can only hope an OFC'er takes a guided trip and tells him the guy who left his keys sent me. thanks to lunaticadventures.com it was an awesome trip. here she is with her best day fishing on soft water
