Great scenery, some real nice fish, and fishing with a fellow OFNer...doesn't get much better than that!

I pass thru Washago on the way up to the Parry Sound area. It's right at the north end of Lake Couchiching....some good fishing there! I also have a few friends that moved there from the Toronto area and they love it. Casino Rama is close by as well. If you had to take a test, then bly and I may not be fishing today. We had both stopped fishing since we were kids, and when we saw our little with rods and reels in their hands one day, I went and got two licenses for us while they were still fishing. I got lost in the moment and acted impulsively. That being said, most honest people will learn their lesson fairly early and then be better at following the regs...sure they may do a bonehead thing or two, but in the long run they wont be the ones destroying the fishery. I'd suspect that many of the people who abuse the fishery do so because that's just the way they are. They are well aware of the regs and just ignore them.

Congrats on your first fish of the year....it beat my first fish...same species, but you're was bigger....LOL.

Not part of the OFC Tourney....but she did place second in her first kids derby last summer!!

Largemouth and Smallmouth bass are not open. She caught a rock bass...which has the same rules as panfish. They opened on the Kawarthas a few weeks ago.

Thanks to all for your replies. To those of you who mentioned something about me being net boy for all the gals in the family....or getting used to being outfished by them, I have to tell you.... I'm already used to it....LOL.

How old are the youngsters? For our six year old we bring bubbles, lots of snacks and we let her play with the worms and minnows...LOL. We've even thought about bringing the portable DVD player with some movies....just plug it into the 12V plug we have on the boat...could also work with gameboys etc if they get bored.

Fantastic report!! But sorry the night time thing didn't work out too well....I feel a little bad that you got there at 1am and had no fish!! Some awesome pics there and lots of fish...sounded like a great opener for sure! One thing about those trout at night....a little detail...I fish for them at the top of a run...when they rest in a pool before they shoot up to the next one. Again...great report...congrats all around!

I stopped steelheading last year when I'd see them just move out of the way....too maddening....LOL. I may have a trip or two left before they shoot out to the lake. Good on your for trying....you may just figure out what it takes to catch them when they are like this!

Great report! You got into some fish, so that's always a good thing. Kids are pretty funny...yours likes to play with bugs and ropes...my 6 year old daughter likes to play with dead minnows and worms.....LOL. Funny though....I don't have a PM from you with your OFC sign in a picture for the eye....LOL.

So lemme get this straight....the limit for the two of them is 24 and they took home 7? Wow...talk about over harvesting a species who's numbers aren't even endangered. I feel bad for taking home 2 perch my 6 year old caught today for a fish fry. On the other side... WOOHOO!!!! Great job guys...that's quite the night you guys had out there. I'd love to get out to a real catfish spot like that and catch my limit!
