Fishing in the dark? Who catches fish then?? LOL. We have a light on the side of one of our benches in the tinny that is wired to the battery and is switch operated. It doesn't seem that bright....but when it's truly dark out, it's plenty bright enough to see what you are doing out there.

Get good rain gear to keep yourself dry. I've had luck in the rain....the fish don't care, they are already wet.... As rain/storms approach, it seems to turn the fish on at times. Seriously though...a good rain coat and rain pants will make the time out there more bearable. If you are uncomfortable, you'll tend to not do the finesse things that you'd normally do in good weather. Hope this helped.

Great stuff! The first of many trout reports today I'm sure!

Glad to hear your wife is feeling much better! Getting through things like that will only make you guys stronger. What a great gift....enjoy!!! -
LOL Glen....great report! Glad to hear the repairs were done properly. Ahhh...the wall is back in your pics...something just wasn't quite right in your shore reports. We're hoping to take the boat out this weekend with our little one (not looking great at this point), and have her use those sabiki rigs you gave us at Quinte. Saturday is looking bad...rain/thundershowers and winds up to 50km/h....and Sunday morning plans may put a damper on fishing. At the least we'll take her to a local pond. Do they warn you when the dams are going to open? Is there a strict schedule they follow? Thanks for the pics and report....nice to see you out there again....hope the temps cool down there soon...so you can put yer shirt back on.....

Now THATS a burger. I always wondered....why call it a hamburger, when traditionally it's made with beef? Hmmmmmmmmm. I suppose cowburger didn't sound that appetizing? Or cowpies for that matter??? -
Amazing pics! 3 hours? Must have been an adrenaline rush the whole time!!!

Hey Cliff.... As it turned out, this Sunday wasn't going to work for us, but we are wide open for next Sunday! Count us in for now....barring any emergency situation we'll plan on being there. Cliff -

Good stuff MJL! Getting that first one out of the way must have felt good. Looking forward to your trout opener report....as well as the carp ones!

Hard to catch them sitting in front of your computer Victor!! Thanks...they are starting to come in now that the waters are warming up.

We've been out a few times since Saturday looking for carp. Although they are not there in great numbers yet, we have noticed increased activity as the waters warm. We went out on Sunday night, and Bly was the only one to hook into a fish. With the colder water temps, we've found they fight for about 30 seconds pretty fierce...and then they come in pretty easy after that. Anyhow, here's the Sunday fish.... We didn't head out on Monday or Tuesday as Bly was feeling pretty sick, but today she felt good enough to venture out again. The activity was increased, seeing carp jumping right out of the water and actually seeing them swimming around. Tonight we each got into one...no monsters as of yet, but fair sized carp. For those who are interested, we use ground bait and feeders....leaders with hair rigs. We've never had a lot of luck using corn, so we use boilies on the rigs. We're hoping to get out in the boat this weekend, but we'll have to wait and see. Until then, we'll keep up with our shore fishing!

Wait a minute....did I read that you were targeting Carp? They do put up a nice tussle on the end of your line...they were my practice for salmon fishing, since I had never caught a 20 pound fish before last year!

Nice looking fish! I hear you about downtown fishing....most of our fishing is done with a main road only a few minutes away as well. I find that fishing after work is the BEST way to wind down afer a stressful day.

Gotta love shore fishing. Too bad about that big one, but like you say, the fight is adrenaline pumping for sure! We get skunked a lot...especially right now when we are between seasons, but just getting out there is nice and relaxing. Carp weekday evenings from shore are on our list, and hopefully weekends out on the Kawarthas in the boat starting this weekend. Great report Glen...strange seeing shore reports from you, but some days it's gotta feel nice not having to launch a boat...especially if you don't have a lot of time to fish.

1st Spring Steelhead Caught In My Life/Rod Recommendation
ccmtcanada replied to young_one's topic in General Discussion
Congrats on your first! It's great to finally land one isn't it? As far as gear is concerned, I use a 12'6" Shimano Convergence on the creeks....that'll run you around 100 I think. What's wrong with the one in that pic? Good luck and happy fishing. -
Awww crap....I have Ovechkin in the hockey playoff pool....

Wow...very sorry to hear this! Get him into treatment as soon as absolutely possible. As was already mentioned, they have made huge strides in therapies in recent years. Just like Wayne, I lost my dad when he was only 53 to this terrible disease. You are in our thoughts. Cliff and Carole -
Thanks for the info Dano. Crohns affects more than most people think. My best friend is afflicted with it, as is one of my daughter's friends. Jen...thanks for taking this big step and sharing your story. Awareness is key to a cure, and your courage is admirable. Good luck in the walk...Carole and I are proud to sponser you.
