Thanks Dan....I gave them a call and they quoted me $130. Geesh...didn't know it was that expensive...LOL. I'll keep looking around for now! -
I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a place in the Oshawa area (or Durham Region in general) where one can buy a 1/4" thick aluminum plate....about 2 feet by 3 feet. (I can get away with 1 foot by 3 feet). I have a bowmount trolling motor (thanks Roy) that I need to install, but I need the plate in order to attach it correctly/safely. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We also do not chum the area with anything. Whenever Victor/MJL/Wolfville fish there and chum the area, it messes up for a few days...LOL. Just kidding, but we find these fish stick around pretty religiously from late April until late July.

Now that I think of it, I think you were fishing on the opposite bank that night!

It's been a while since we've posted a carp report, so after the great night we had last night, I thought I'd share a few pics! Fishnsled met up with us around 830pm last night to fish and to catch up on our recent fishing trips. We had a little action fairly early on, but no takers. Just as we thought it was going to be one of those nights, with Fishnsled on the phone (of course), he has a rocket take off!! All I hear is "I gotta go...I'll call you right back" and the fight is on. This thing was on steroids it seems. It stripped line off his reel thinking it was a salmon or something!! The fish finally came in, and with me at the net, he caught the first one of the night. A little while later, Fishnsled hooks up again and lands this nice one! It starting to get a little late, so after he caught that one, I reeled in and began to pack up. Just as I start doing this, Bly says "YES!! Got one!!!". This one didn't fight as hard as the others, but for some reason the darned thing wouldn't come in very quickly. Finally....the thing surfaces close to us and I thought "This is one BIG fish". Turns out it's Bly's new PB Carp. Measuring in at 37" and weighing 27 pounds 6 ounces!! We've gone out a few other times in the second week of June, but hadn't had a lot of success, but here's one that was pulled out of the same spot. And on a side note, my little one has been very interested in caterpillars. She had a tiny one that turned into a moth about a month ago, and Bly found a larger one (Tent caterpillar I believe) that she's been playing with. She built a lego home for it and puts leaves in there for it to "play" in. It finally built itself a "web" and holed up in there. We thought the thing died because it fell out of it and just laid on the bottom of the jar we had it in. I went to get rid of it and put a moth in there and the thing moved, so we put it back. Well last night, it shed it's outer layer and began to metamorphosize!! Our little one is all excited to see this turn into a moth. Here's a pic from this morning..... That's all for now....hope to catch more fish soon!!

MY WIFE FISHED FOR 5 HOURS STRAIGHT!!!!
ccmtcanada replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
Another great report! So, you think your wife will fish more with you now?? hehe. As far as "pretty" lures are concerned, bly has a go to Walleye lure....and it has pink on it. Cant laugh at it though, because it caught her personal best walleye....a little guy at 15 pounds....LOL. -
After a dozen years, I think I might be back

Hey there. What a fantastic first post! Glad to hear that you found your way back to the sport and able to share it with your son. We put a fishing rod in our daughter's hand when she was 4 and she loved it. When she was 5 we started taking her out in the canoe and boat. She caught her first walleye this year up on Sturgeon Lake. Anyhow, many have already chimed in here....lot's of good advice. Here's a link to that info that Victor was talking about. When we got back into the sport (my wife and I took a 20 year break!), we used this as our guide! http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/STEL02_163569.pdf Good luck out there! Cliff -
It's a lodge up on Lake Nipissing. We have an OFC Community get together there every June. www.lakair.com

You weren't at Lakair? Huh....could have sworn you were. Then again, it was all a blur. See you again next year John. Man I'm so confused.
-
Likewise Marty! Can't wait for the recipe too...I liked it better than the fish...LOL. C'mon Glen...what happens at Lakair stays at Lakair....
-
Congrats Shawn! Scan that magazine...I'd love to see it! Or, just come on over and we'll do it for you...LOL.
-
Good stuff Mike! At least you got out on the water and caught a few fish....better than sitting around at home doing chores...LOL.
-
It was great meeting the two of you. It took guts coming all the way up there to meet a bunch of strangers, but you fit right in. As Bly and I were getting off the water on Sunday night, I took a look at your fish....awesome catch!
-
Great stuff Glen! It's always a pleasure chatting with you. Guess the next G2G is Quinte in November...be sure you stop by our place for a night and we'll go after some real Walleye before we all meet at Quinte....haha. Good to see you had a great time, and that you made it home safe!

Hey Rick, I think you did a great job in summing it right up! Lakair 2007 was the first year for Carole and I. We had only been part of the site for about 8 months at the time and although we "knew" people from the site, we hadn't met most. Everyone made us feel welcome up there....like you said, all walks of life sharing one passion. There are some, who have turned out to be great friends who I wouldn't have ever guessed would be part of our lives. Anyhow, it was another awesome weekend....maybe next year we'll preplan a few tunes that we can play/sing ahead of time....I'm always a little rusty with those at this time of year.

Great stuff and congrats on the new PB! That is quite the slab there! Always nice to catch a variety of species on an outing too.

Great report Lew. It was a real pleasure to see you again up there this year. I took your advice and checked out that area you mentioned where you got that nice musky in your pic. Had a follow and strike...just no hook set. I think my heart is still pounding....LOL. Glad to see you made it home safe.

I did a lot of research late last summer and early fall. I was told that in general, prices fall near the end of the season for those wanting to unload their boats before they have to pay to store them over the winter months. I still check everyday on sites like Craigslist and Kijiji and I have NOT noticed prices up for the packages out there. I'm wondering if the high price of gas is causing some to unload their boats keep the supply of them high keeping prices down. I'm not sure....just an observation.

Glad to hear you are back at home Glen. Always a great time meeting up with you! Get rested and post your pics!!

Hey Lexx, it was great seeing his smile...you couldn't wipe it off his face!! I asked him if he was having a good time and his reply was that this is the best time he's had in a while, and that he caught his biggest fish ever! It's a great group of people that makes the trek up there. Hope to see all of you again next year!
