  1. Thanks folks! Been a wild three weeks here, with her hyped up on steroids and I've never seen her eat this much food. You'd think she was bulking up for chemo... that thankfully she doesn't need! Stereotactic radiation starts Monday.. thru Friday at Sunnybrook.
  2. You'd think Dave.. but not on this piece of crap. Don't forget that lubricating studs / nuts also screws up torquing specs!
  3. Good for spotted salamanders, bull frogs and turtles. Fish.. not so much!!
  4. My pool froze over last night Simon... I get in trouble if I drill there !
  5. For sure Jimmer... the steel they use today is absolute junk compared to the cars of the '60's and '70's. My son's 2005 Ford Focus.. we snapped more studs off than I can care to count just changing him over from snows to summers, etc. Even after a soak in penetrating oil. Heat seems to work most of the time, but who carries a propane torch in their car, other than Joe, Art and Dano! lol
  6. All 3 kids.. never got the keys to a vehicle solo until they had taken the change a flat "school". It was determined at that time 2 of them might have to show a bit of leg.. hell maybe even the son.. to find someone strong enough to get the nuts off, but at least they knew where the jack was... how to get the spare down from under the truck, etc. Personally, in 37 or so years of driving I've never had a flat on the side of the road, vehicle or trailer. Stay away from the curb and the garbage it contains and most of your troubles don't happen. That and checking inflation of tires on a regular basis. That's not to say that there has been numerous occasions of family members making it home with nails and screws in tires, that I generally take care of still on the vehicle.
  7. The way I read it Dunner.. $2 fee on the card.. $2 fee on the licence(s)
  8. Why I said to turn your mirrors down until you can see your back tire... accounts for the ramp slope!
  9. Not sure who's luckier Simon... You for having Jack, or Jack for having you! You adopting??? I'm available...
  10. He's gotta be able to do something right Joe... ever see the brand of beer he drinks...
  11. Ok... maybe it was just the Johnson..
  12. Hopefully the handle is still marked with the throttle location for starting. I borrowed a 30 x 4 stroke Johnson from the marina a few years ago, late in the fall... and the handle markings were worn clean. Damn near had a coronary trying to pull starting it the next cold morning... and when I finally did and took it back, the owner said "did you turn it to here"?
  13. It is Bill... can you come and collect your white and take it home? I'm not impressed with it...
  14. Electric or pull start? Hoping electric or you'd better learn the exact spot of throttle to start it. We have a 2000 x 25 HP on our steel boat at the lake. Runs flawless and it had been stored improperly (basically just pulled up on shore) for over 3 years before we bought the camp that it came with. 3 carbs and have never had an issue with it period. I've changed the plugs once in 10 years and probably didn't need to.
  15. My '03 F150 had Ameritrac Generals on it G... regular all seasons. Best tire I've had so far for winter traction, so can only imagine how good their Arctics are. Local garage thought I was nuts when I wanted a second set of the same tire after the first 80K
  16. Caught big momma mouse in the sticky trap I put in the splash well... hope she was the first to board the boat!

  17. Put those electric mirrors to work and tip them both so you can see the ground @ about the rear wheel of the truck. More chance you'll see your trailer fenders that way after it heads down the ramp.
  18. No he's not Hun... I still have his sled locked up here!! lol
  19. Looked like it had the "Harvick" help to get it going! lol Wonder how many of them cement steps they cleared on the way down...
  20. My prop hub is two pieces of rubber and it's designed to let go on a strike, etc. If that nut is loose.. then it's very possible that he hub is disengaging under load. I'd be pulling the prop off first... well after I put the engine in gear and then tried forcing the prop to turn first. If the hub shows signs of letting you do so, I'd lay bets you've chewed the prop hub out.
  21. To this day the men and women of our Canadian Forces are taught to put their emotions away into little imaginary boxes and carry on. I fear the day that my brother actually starts to "open" his, and relives the accounts of all his buddies that he buried in "recent" times. Just can't imagine how many of these "boxes" some of the WWII guys carry on their shoulders. Never forget!
  22. As many have already pointed out... that things called a cavitation plate for a reason. That and what Terry pointed out... put some muscle on that prop and see if the hub slips!
  23. Thanks guys! Rick, I hear what you're saying... but hopefully this thread never ends. She'll be on 3 months at a time for the rest of her life and will never be given an "all clear". As it is, nobody has seen someone survive this many Ewing's tumours. She has them all baffled and will hopefully continue to do so !
  24. VERY efficient today! Left home at 7 am.. Into Mount Sinai Hospital at 9:25.. Jen drank her Barium and was already out of the full body CT scan by the 11am that she was supposed to go in at! Went upstairs to move the Doctor consult to Tuesday... told "closed Tuesday but I'll go see see if he can fit you in now". We told Natalie that we had to leave by 1 at the latest, as Jen had to be at Sunnybrook no later than 2! Saw Dr. Razik and were on our way by 12:15. Razik looked over the scans himself and couldn't see "anything that concerns me", but of course we still need to see the official radiologist report by weeks end. There is one spot in a lung... but he says it matches the scans from back in January so suspects it's just scar tissue that he'll monitor. Considering she's had 3 lung xrays since January, that were deemed "clear", and he compared todays CT to January's CT it sounds like this spot should be a non-event. We then drove to Sunnybrook and grabbed some lunch in the food court and then went into the Odette Cancer Centre by 1:45. Sat for a whole 5 minutes and were taken in immediately to see Dr. Sahgal. Dr Sahgal says there's nothing new on the MRI that was taken last week... so he is just doing "preventative" Stereotactic Radiation on the area the two tumours were removed from about 3 weeks back. His stats say without Radiation there's an 80% chance of re-occurance and with radiation it changes things down to a 20% chance. All in all this is great news as before starting the last round of Radiation, in July 2013, Jennifer had already grown a couple new skull tumours and her brain tumour had started to grow again within the 3 weeks since surgery to remove same. After the Doctor consult Jen had her plastic mesh "clamp down" mask made (that holds her still on the radiation table) and the required CT that goes along with that, to mark focus points on it for the radiation technicians. Jen then picked up her appointment card and we were back in the truck by 2:55 and home at 5:05! Radiation next week, each day Monday to Friday. Gas for the truck $75 Parking today $43.75 ($20 Sinai... $23.75 Sunnybrook) Lunch (Pizza Pizza) $28.35 Todays news.. Priceless
  25. Most efficient day of "hospitalling" in 4 years! Sinai at 9:30 to drink barium.. full body CT at 11.. saw the Doctor before noon.. had lunch, drove to Sunnybrook and had all prep for radiation done and back in the truck for home by 2:55!
