mounting a fish finder to your ATV or Sled
irishfield replied to Lunkerhunter's topic in General Discussion
See if you have some dinosaur in the family that has a 1985 Motorola vehicle mount cell phone! It came with a perfect metal to metal, swivelling mount. Don't ask how I know... and no you can't have mine! lol -
I thought baiting was against the rules, but I guess it's okay in a hunting thread.

While they are supposed to be a.. damn can't think of the name for live alone.. creature, that summer I had at least 5 on the property in different sizes. This was the only one I got a picture of. Had 3 smaller and one bigger than this one... so possibly mom, pop and 3 kids. I have a lot of Porks on the property and what the FIsher was introduced to control. They chase them to the top of a tree.. out a limb and the porcupine falls to the ground. While the porcupine is stunned, the Fisher runs back down the tree and zips the porcupines stomach open and eats them from the inside out. They also had a habit of attacking my step fathers cows, out on Ford Rd between SF and Carleton Place. They ring the cows ankles with their teeth and when the cow hits the dirt they kill them.

anyone recommend an operator on lake temagami

I believe it was sold a couple years back, MorS, and it looks like the new owners may not do winter. http://www.temagamilodge.com I'm pretty sure Rick Lockhart (former co-owner of Ketcheneny Lodge) still does ice fishing out of his newer place in Spawning Bay. www.wishinyouwerefishin.com -

BTW.. the search function works best if you hit the little gear / wheel beside the magnifying glass and do an advanced search. Type in Temagami.. and then select titles only.. not content. -
Good to hear it's working out Bernie! Not a small undertaking, or gamble, at our ages ! Life is never dull, if you always keep an open mine.. I mean mind! Remember... they check your pockets leaving!
-
Yep.. I've said it to you before Bernie.... no safety retention, simply held in by the balls (when they are still present) and two bearings an inch apart expected to take the torque. Take us back to the spindle and taper bearings soon please...
-
Thank God it was 2 wheel drive with front mount (and not rear mount) calipers or I'd probably be shy a daughter in law ! Only thing retaining the wheel was the caliper frame.
-
I find the easiest way to remove the rotor is to just bring the hub along for the ride!
-
You removed the thin lock nut and brake caliper first...
-
Part of it is cheap recycled steel... but the road brine is playing a big part in eating brake lines and other important stuff. I think it's all a conspiracy to help fund windshield washer supply companies myself... lol.. you can't even clear a windshield by drafting someone anymore!
-
Yah... tools eh..

If I only had a tire machine Bernie... keep thinking about an old manual one just to do such a thing. Many times a good air gun blast, while wobbling the stem, and some fluid film around same solves the problem on many. We don't all live close enough to Powassan to get good auto service!

What kind of "weeds" Rich ?
-
For sure Davey... I already have one that leaks down on my '11. Leah's old '03 is a weekly affair for two wheels. Aluminum and road brine do not play well together.

Lots to do a search on there.... I think it's been well covered in the last 8+ years. That said... it all depends on ice conditions and travel to make your stay the most enjoyable. Loon Lodge gives you easy access to their facilities (no matter the ice conditions) and with huts out front. John's bungalows... Someone had a bunch of bungalows up past Ketcheneny last year, but not sure who's they were. If the ice is good.. you can drive all the way down to Tamar and they keep an almost 15 mile ice road plowed. Temagami Lodge, on Temagami Island, if the ice road is in to Bear Island. Linda's Wigwams on Bear Island for cabins... etc. Starting to think I should stay up there all winter and run a Room and Board affair... -
The things you old guys do for s and giggles !

I imagine Jer is referring to the bridge/causeway between Pigeon and Buckhorn Lakes

LMAO! As long as you had fun Dave... that's what it's all about. You did have fun....
-
I gotta drop by behind the plant and check out that scrap bin!! LOL
-
Yah.. my '11 was about as much fun a month or so ago when I had to pull a tire to find a nail in it and it was pretty fresh from a tire rotation at Ford. I have a 5' long 6 x 6 for such occasions, but damn near gave up on this Ford! Darn near knocked it off the axle stand!

He says it starts fine with a boost... and why I asked where he was connecting the cables. Battery to battery, or hooked up from the boosting vehicle to dead cars engine block and battery... or engine block and a mid point connection terminal like many GM trucks have because you can't get to the battery lug. Have you tried charging the battery overnight and then starting in the morning? Do you still need a boost? That answered... would narrow it down to: Battery to Battery boost: A dirty cable to battery connection on the "dead" vehicle as the jumper cables work fine using the existing cables to engine block and starter. Shows a bad junction of battery lug to cable connections. (I had this on the 2500 I'm currently driving, thought for sure it was the battery and was just a crappy side post connection) Using frame and battery: You have a bad ground cable from engine / frame to battery or again just a dirty cable terminal to battery lug. Using the mid point cable post (if like a GM truck). You have a bad connection from that cable post to the wire to the battery, or again a bad battery lug connection on the + cable. The tip off is the "if I turn the ignition on and off a few times sometimes it will start". You have a dirty connection somewhere and the current draw final sparks a contact and lets you get enough juice to start.
