  1. I'm sure there are cheaper places to get such a thing done, if you get away from downtown GTA firms. I just went to where we've always gone before and Bay St doesn't come cheap, unfortunately. As j ace noted... a similar thing... a guy that I maintain an airplane for, his wife is a Chartered Accountant and her downtown firm bills her out at $8000/hr! She of course gets much less than that herself. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm surprised to hear they even patent stuff in China as they have no problems copying our patented items and putting them out for retail all over the world... with no financial recourse at our end.
  2. That's just the retainer to get them started waterlooxu.... the next "ask" was $12,500 "banked" to proceed, after the patent search was done, to ATTEMPT to obtain a patent for my daughters invention. We decided at that point that her getting her Masters by designing this device, as part of her thesis, was good enough and where we ended it. With only 3 people in Canada and few elsewhere in this unique situation of having an unattached leg there would be no hope of ever recouping the costs going forward. This isn't my first rodeo either... I have a few patents.. but you have to look at the end picture and see if there's any sense in going forward.
  3. Well hopefully she can keep up the laughs and the energy... finished her last Stereotactic head radiation this afternoon and is on the way home. We learned on Wednesday that the "nothing that concerns me", from Dr. Razak last week, went out the window. The Radiologist report shows that it's not A spot in her lung, it's two lesions side by side. Consult request has been sent to PMH to do High Intensity Radiation on those spots now as well. Still waiting for the call... Edited to add: She's home... 5 days of high intensity radiation done and still in good spirits. Waiting for Princess Margaret to call with a date for her lungs and with our luck it will be Tuesday or something... as to add insult to injury the m-in-law is going in for an expedited triple or quad bypass on Monday and the hospital is about 4 hours from our place.Oh well I've been told by a good friend that it's all just a test. I just wish someone would supply the study material !
  4. When I heard it first this morning... all I could think of was Brian and Terry out fishing !
  5. $3500 retainer up front to start the patent process on my daughters pelvic exoskeleton device. $600 / hr for a Engineering Technologist and $350 / hr for his flunky to search patents and "consult".. and they farmed it out to another guy after the fact to do it all anyhow. Then added that fee... to their time and with about 4 man hours a piece it was gone. I'm in the wrong gig....
  6. Jiffy Auger cover, so I can stop fighting to get the snow out of my engine when I arrive at my spot, and a couple new spare auger blade cover rubber straps. Oh.. and a few Black Betty 6061's to spool up and put to work. Really liked using them last year when I dropped in on Lloyd a few times from the air... We'll see how I like them after hammering them around in the hut for awhile, compared to my old arsenal of spinning reels. Might need a battery for the sled... but it did start !
  7. Starts while boosting? is this with your cables hooked to your battery connections or elsewhere on the vehicle?? You take it from there...
  8. Steve you can buy the black betty 6061 in left or right hand.
  9. That's the lower model of the Black Betty.. not the 6061
  10. I got mine out of Cabela's for $69US + shipping + brokerage and they still end up being $110 each with currency exchange etc (and the buggers shipped from Alberta!). Not sure how Gander ships...
  11. I guess I should finally give up after 45 years or more then...
  12. PFFT... at least do it right Brian. My Temagami white "tube" ! When it comes to Lakers.. no bait's too big...no bait's too small!
  13. Enjoy your day Lew... and I see you already looked around and saw your present!
  14. 2.7 to 1 on the black betty 6061 is 19" of line per turn... so 50 cranks from 80 feet. The big thing with the inline vs a spinning reel... is bait presentation. Not a big deal if you're whipping a spoon up and down, but if you're still fishing a small 1/16th to 1/4 oz jig / bait the inline puts it down and it sits natural and still. 80 feet down on a spinning reel and at least in my case that bait is going round and round and round and may or may not scare the fish off. I'll put my thoughts to work this winter... I plan to fish one spinning and one inline and we'll see which wins.
  15. 50 cranks gonna tire you out Rob??
  16. The Black Betty 6061 will free spool a 1/16th ounce bait with no issues... in a heated hut of course.
  17. They're gonna need a survey crew just to tell them where the street is !
  18. Why I use to like my Conservation licence and the easy answer to CO Bruce Ward's question of "what would you do if you caught a record muskie"... I'd have no choice but to let it go ! But because of the dick and his thoughts of "possession".. I upgraded to a Sport so I can kill the bugger!.. no I'd still let it go!
  19. 4+ years of hospitals and I could tell you how to open a door..... but then I wouldn't have a clean spot to do it myself!!
  20. 2, of 5, days of radiation under her belt. Says "she'll be a little crispier come Friday.... just like the way I like my bacon"! I think humour might continue to get her further than anything they've gave her so far in all of this !
  21. Terry... too scared to even go outside.. booo hooo Dave... 6"....
  22. I still have the box for my JVC stereo... that I bought at Bay Bloor Radio in 1979.. so yah, I have all my reel boxes. And I wonder where my son gets the pack rat syndrome from....
