  1. My father died when I was 24... I already had a wife and 2 kids. I guess I could have moved back in... lol Yah I know Steve.. none of this is helping you!
  2. Actually was the only service in Temagami until last year when Bell put an antenna on the old CBC tower. It now overshadows Rogers (whos tower is 15k south of town) and plays havock with me getting a signal. Was best when it was still analog! ... as for those pop up adverts in youtube videos and most everywhere else, you can thank my sister-in-laws brother for those.. well until he sold the patents to Google.
  3. What you saying Bill... I should update from the 3rd cell phone I've had since 1985....and only went GSM flip phone because Rogers forced me too...
  4. Yah.. they're running those and then some! The +10 days on the ice.. they almost run into stuff watching their temperature gauges so hard! lol
  5. Watching Lloyd and Terry constantly hunting for fluffy snow or something to dust into their cooling intakes while on the lake... I'll take my fan cooled 500 every day of the week!
  6. Doubtful Old Iron.. some just can't be weaned off the teet ! I left home at 17 and never looked back. Wonder if my parents were ever thankful for that! LOL
  7. If it's a Trumpeter... it's one of theirs. I use to do their aerial counts of nests in the spring and birds in the fall, until they started spreading out further and further from the Marsh.
  8. Yah.. #sittingbythephonewaitingforthecall
  9. Did he ever send Darcy a ticket to the game ???
  10. Great stuff Hun... if you have a tag # for that swan I'm sure the Wye Marsh in Midland would like to know the location.
  11. Doesn't matter.. Transport Canada is indeed Federal, yet they are mandated to send the Province a list of ownership transfers of all aircraft on a monthly basis, so boats would be no different.
  12. They enclosed it for 2015.. which I don't like and why I jumped through hoops to find some left hand '14's
  13. Yes they have their right to a limit and if that's all they got ... no harm no fowl ! That said, I know at least one Charter captain that is never running below 30 feet and has no issue keeping his clients happy!
  14. The new 2015 model?? or the older 2014? Dang... now I've got to go back out in the shop and play with the 3 I have out there.. lol
  15. Is yours the regular Black Betty or the 6061 bare foot?
  16. IF there are CHANGES you must update your licence. Pretty pointless to just get a new piece of paper that has the exact same thing on it every 10 years... but it is the government...
  17. Thanks Dave! Essentially they are concerned about SAR and having valid information on file. Makes some sense, but not a lot for many that have their boat registered to a home address and it stays at a cottage dock. Also note the vague statement on the 10 years validity...
  18. Thank God Terry... or you'd want to return it to the point of purchase...
  19. What ever makes you comfortable VXP.. that's all that matters. BUT.. if you put it in this year to defer the taxes..even at 51% as a highest earner.. and you need that money next year for something real important and you're still working. You're still only going to pay the same 51% on it.. so nothing has been lost. You only gain if you can leave it there until you are in a lower tax bracket or not making money at all.
  20. As I pointed out.. the idea is for the money to come out ONLY after you have stopped making an earned income. So you draw from your RRSP's at the lowest tax rate available and if possible not above the basic personal deduction so you pay NO tax on it.
  21. I had an Engineer that worked for me from '85 to about 93 that believed that the only reason there was RRSP's was so that the government would know where your money was and how much they could steal by simply passing some legislation. He know lives in a shack up near Magnetawan trying to make ends meet. Deferred taxes... RRSP's work if you are even one step up off the minimum tax bracket. Save the tax on that amount.. make interest tax free and hopefully don't need to pull it out until you can do so in the lowest tax bracket. That said... the Government is starting to go along my Engineers thinking... Capital gains on some RRSP funds will now be taxed fully as fully taxable income and not at the 50% of the gain as in the past.
  22. Man.. that brings back memories from the 70's! How we keep our fingers warm while ski instructing at Calabogie Peaks all day.. Red Pepper in our gloves!
  23. Strength is always in numbers Jay... why I share it when I can and typing it out and sending it out seems to lift the weight off the shoulders here from time to time. Wishing your daughter all the best! ..and thanks to everyone else, including Stonefish and his generous offer last night.
  24. Looks like some great eating and fishing there to me. Love the still "line" !
