BTW...the picks are only $9.99 at CTC. You can also buy a safety kit for $13.99. It's a set of picks, whistle and foot cleats.

THANKS Everyone...it's a done deal. The one Fin III was still there so I grabbed it today, along with (of course) a few handfulls of jigs, new metal scoop etc......along with a couple prizes for Maureens Fishing for Tyler event. Going to make up a 12" or 16" extension for it in the shop tomorrow. Last year I was just about to the handle on Lake Temagami, before breaking thru, in March...and it was a bad ice year. Hard to turn the handle when you get down that low. Firefisher if that's true it's $14.95 cheaper than CTC for the Swede Bore then as it's $69.99 at CTC. If I have an excuse to go out the hwy to Walmart before it gets used I'll check if they have one and prices...but I'd rather feed Canadian executives than American ones. No offence to our southern contingent here...

Pair of ice picks. Worn around your neck at all times or cord attached to the front of your jacket/suit and stored in an easy access pocket.

Wet T-shirt...can I pour ! LOL Have a great night out on the town with the gals Joey! -
What Mepps said! Cabo CBC31PTS is the left hand model. If you go over to JB's you should be able to get it from Brian for under $200 + tax. I bought my second one there for $189. You won't find it a BPS unless that's changed recently. Pro Musky Tackle is $209.99 if he has one.

Guess I should have grabbed the one 8" Fin III they had left on the shelf. Back tomorrow. Also might grab a 4" Swede bore, if they have it, for my bilge pumping holes. No sense drilling an 8" just to get water. The 4" will be perfect for 2x4's and rope for tie downs as well, to just leave in the boat house at the lake.

They're both Normarks Abberz...but I know what you mean. The Swed bore with inline handles and the knob on top. Seems there is a group that fancies the offset handle and a group that doesn't. Keep the thoughts coming...gotta go back up town tomorrow and maybe North next week.

Nottawasaga Bay Ice-fishing recommendations
irishfield replied to snag's topic in General Discussion
Haven't trolled to date...but that could change next year on the back lakes! Here's my buddies set up on his airplane.. -
Was in CTC today getting some stuff and thought I really should grab an auger for trips up to the Lake. Not only for fishing, but I need to make a hole to get water from the lake for week/weekend stays and if I fly up to put tie downs into the lake so my ride home doesn't blow away. I remember many saying to go with the Fin Bore III with the offset handles vs the Swede Bore with the inline handle. Both made by the same company and ship in identical cartons. They had about 2 dozen Swede Bores and only one 8" Fin Bore III on the shelves. I price checked it and it was $99.99. I've heard many getting augers for half that in the last while so I put it back. There was also a neat little collapsable Fin Bore 6" that would go nicely into a back pack..price checked it too at $99.99 and left without either. I know the one I borrowed from Maureen last year was an off set handle. Found it a bit awkward to drill with it, but haven't used the inline to compare. What are your thoughts guys/gals.

Goddo..LOL U get out more than I thought TJ ! LOL "Slumber Cottage" (Humber College) in Rexdale Late '78 to '81. We went there for Thursday night pubs each week and it was either Goddo or Teenage Head we were dancin to or partying with between sets. Either them or Kim Mitchel, Wilcox, or the likes. Surprised those boys are still alive....must have found god! "Oh Carol..kiss my whip".... (can't remember if that was TH or Goddo...it's all a BLURRRR) Time to go dig thru my album collection... PatB.."huge egos and going no where"...Possibly..but they have lasted 30 years. Made money?..doubtful since they're still playin the bar scene it appears all these years later.

Nottawasaga Bay Ice-fishing recommendations
irishfield replied to snag's topic in General Discussion
I've only seen Nottawasaga Bay frozen over twice in the 18 years I've been flying around up here. Like Spiel says you'll be fishing in a protected bay/marina etc...definitely not on the open lake. -
I was down to the town dock today to have a look as well. Yes there are about a dozen huts out there. Don't let that fool you that the ice is safe...my son always says "there would be more people married in Penetang if it wasn't for that cousin law" ! Take your spud and check it yourself before venturing out. Better know where you are walking in the area the huts are as well. At least 3 creeks come in to the lake right there...that rarely freeze even in the best of winters. One look at Midland Harbour and I can tell you it's definitely not safe! Hogs bay only froze over mid week last week..so BE CAREFUL. Was also + 2 C up here today according to my truck console.

Hey Gerritt...that old boat's had at least one 29" pickeral in it ! Glad I could help twist your wife's arm for ya Rich. I'll be there on the 18th and I'm sure we can get out together. Leah fishes...but she's not going to spend the whole day on the water. Wayne

Believe it went the way of the Dodo Bird. Disappeared about the same time some of my conversation disappeared from another thread. I'd suspect the poker threads issue was the "help" section of it on how under age members could get around the money input/gambling age limit issue.

Remo...they've been a nasty joke for the past 40 years.......

I took the picture.... ....and will go with Lew's response! LOL
-
Same here Rob.... ...and if that far North Trip plan doesn't come together for the spring, I do know of a place in the Temagami Landscape where you and Chris are more than welcome to spend a weekend on me in the Spring. Wayne

The Alaskan has one gauge thicker aluminum on both the freeboard and bottom than the Classic. Classic has slightly wider beam. Classic uses fuel tank stored under rear seat...Alaskan is a built in unit.

I was takin pics thru the back window as they ran away so didn't get a good look. Don't think there were any Toms in with the 32 today. Maybe one. There's usually about 7 Toms out with the Ladies. Those birds are a LOT bigger in person than they look in those shots. I bet they each go 15 to 20 lbs.
-
Lots of Toms with these Hens. But you are right..they are going to get like the three legged / dumb deers of Oro-Medonte a few years back from inbreeding.
-
Very true...but they would be the buying bait types generally and thus the shut down of commercial bait collection in the South will give them nothing but Northern caught bait to buy and transport...or so I would hope.
-
4 years ago it was only one Hen in the yard Maureen. Wait till next year and you'll be able to swerve for fresh meat every night on the way home!
-
Glad I could bring you out of hiding TJ ...LOL Them that in the picture (32 of them) is minor....counted 93 in the line following each other thru the forest yesterday..and I'm sure I missed a few.

They are getting worse than Canada Geese! HELP !

Thanks Citty Kitty...appears to be USA based though. Won't take 705 area codes. I'm currently putting a tape together..so I can call back "Heather from Collingwood Escapes"... so she can listen to a taped message every day for over 2 months and the phone number for her to call back will be 1-800-eat-s....
