4 weeks would be pushing it.. but in a very controlled environment he'd get away with it if he watched for mould growth. My father would get in full sides and hang them for about 18 days before cutting up into product. We'd get a delivery every Friday and he'd cut that side on Monday 2+ weeks later to fill the display cooler for the week, with a plan to move what he'd cut in the next 3 to 5 days. Todays standards seem to be no more than 14 days worried about ecoli. Aging also increases or decreases in days needed to age by the amount of carcasses hanging in the locker at any one time as they share bacteria back and forth.

Spent about 2 hours trying to free up the tail gate latch for an '05 Trailblazer the other day (it's $222.50 for a new one) . Lots of picking at rust.. spraying with rust blaster.. trying lubes etc along with some spring modifying. I had it working about 70% of the time and was about to give up and let my son's gf slam the tailgate a few times if need be..... and then noticed I'd left the can of gun oil on the bench from cleaning up the double barrel a month ago. One squirt of gun oil... and click.. click... click.. click... it latched every time! Something for the cranium memory cells for the next time you've got something that typical lubricants won't fix. This gun oil appears to be a miracle lube in a can!

I can say the opposite.. for the same circumstance. Leah's Father butchers three or four cows every year. They are free roaming.. amongst the horses at his riding stable in Orr Lake and get nothing but the grass they can find and some hay. While the taste has got better over the last few years, thanks to me harping at him to find a better butcher... I'll take a steak from Foodland any day over his free "organic" meat. A lot is in how it's butchered... how long it's left to bleed out and age before making the final cuts. Sounds like your friend knows what he's doing. My F-in-law.. not a clue and until Leah reminded him that I grew up in a butcher shop... he wasn't listening. I think the first few years they were dispatched.. cut and wrapped the same day!

Yep, you've got to tighten all the straps so when the water gets in there it stays for the most part and trades off some body heat to warm it up. Buys you some time, but not a lot.. the main thing is it keeps you above water, hopefully long enough for you to get out or for someone to pull you out vs sinking to the depths when your body freezes up. Survival suits are expensive, high quality, insulated dry suits.

Eskimo Ice Auger repair in T.O. or Durham?
irishfield replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
Joe... they're just bearings.. I can buy them most anywhere. Only uses two sizes R10 and R12 (5/8 and 3/4 ID / 1 3/8 and 1 5/8 OD), all I need to see is what the larger ones are for race width, being spec'd out as "double lip". (and I just checked my shop desk and I have 5 of the 3/4" x 1 5/8" in the drawer, pending ripping your auger apart for match verification.. lol) Meet Leah Wednesday at Sunnybrook in front of the Odette Centre off of Bayview Ave onto Wellness Way..... throw it in the back of my truck! -

Get rid of the triggers... morning coffee and a smoke?.. have an OJ and then go do something. It's all will power, whether it be smoking, drinking or sex. two out of three you can quit very easily.. -
I'm so far behind and have so many pokers in the fire.. I'm not really sure what my true winter project is. There are many...

We're always fishing before Christmas Matt.. but I was hoping for it to be in a boat before Muskie closes on the 15th!! Looking like I might have to go sharpen up the auger and get ready for my usual trip with Lloyd and Terry to a little lake we know that we're usually ice fishing before Christmas. Seems to be a few lakes around with 4" on them already... but the snow today and yesterday sure won't help make it safe.

Yah.. it's a sealed bearing B, but it's inside the case anyhow. The only output shaft.. that runs the auger.. is through the bronze bushing on mine and at least on mine it has enough of a casting rise that the grease shouldn't be going out through there. Like I said/typed Joe.. if you can meet Leah at Sunnybrook (appoint is 2:30.. she'll be there a bit before that) on Wednesday, throw it in the back of my F150 and I'll have a boo at it when she gets back Wednesday night / Thursday. -

Nope.. no seals in my Jiffy Joe... bronze bushing on one shaft and bearing on the clutch / drive shaft. If you don't find someone close Joe.. if you get it to me the week of Dec 9th downtown (I'll be at Sinai all week) I'll take it home and go over it.... actually rethinking that.. if you can get it to Leah next Monday night to Wednesday (she'll be in the city and at Sunnybrook Wed afternoon) she can bring it home and I may be able to bring it back the week of the 9th! Some people are easy to read.... LMAO !!

I can't even remember a seal in mine while tearing it apart... I'll have to go look at my old pictures. No matter.. no reason for grease to be flying out of there.. shouldn't be much in there to start with and it certainly shouldn't be slinging out on your clothes. -
Your socks dry yet????

Great to hear Joe... sounds like she wants you out of the house this winter!!!

Another shameless plug for book sales, to help the support centre continue to help survivors along. On the news today and tonight at 11 if you want to watch it live on CTV2. The lady being interviewed, Jackie, is the Mother of the young girl that raised money for Jen to get new lift shoes and forearm crutches. In the interview.. there's a shot of our youngest shaving Jen's head and her portrait shot. http://barrie.ctvnews.ca/each-turn-of-the-page-is-story-of-inspiration-and-hope-1.1562213
