  1. As cliff points out, draining the carb dry not only lets you chance leaning things out so bad you burn a piston, but there is nothing worse IMHO than a dry carburetor left in storage, gumming needle seats, fuel floats and jet holes. Use Stihl chainsaw oil for your 50 to 1 mix.. it already has stabil in it, so no need to add anything else. If it was ethanol free premium and stabli.. I wouldn't worry too much about it and just top it when you go out next with fresh fuel mix. Mine has started every year.. as has all my other equipment in the yard.
  2. Don't complain on day 2 that you're hypothermic.. from all the moisture trapped in the bag!
  3. The turkeys just fly and roost Bernie and eat what ever frozen berries and such they can find. And as Rob points out this snow is doing the deer a service as the 'yotes are having a tough time of it. I've watched a few trying to move through the yard and they could never run down a deer unless they caught them on a laneway, road or lake. Great shot Lew!
  4. Very nice Chris... a day well played!
  5. Be lots of fat / blood line trimming on those buggers! Great stuff Simon!
  6. Yep Breast.. the other white meat.
  7. Looks bigger than a 38 in those shots! My avatar's a 38... guestimated it at about 23 lbs... and yours looks a lot fatter and a bigger head.
  8. You can always afford to get skunked, it just makes the days you don't that much more rewarding. Get out there and tell us how you did tomorrow night!
  9. Who let you hold their fish??? GREAT stuff Bill... and supposing that's a Simcoe fish... eating well out there on all them herring! Did yah get measurements on that 35 pounder??
  10. Jennifer back home in her own apartment.. to get back to some sort of normality at both ends! Just in time for her and her friends Super Bowl party tomorrow!

  11. As for "round abouts" wee scott, would all depend where Harding has his units.
  12. As I said.. I'm sure he knew.. we just have a few "head strungs" up there these days it seems. We've never had any issue with the CO's or OPP in years past .... and have generally had twice weekly talks with the same guys that only want to see what the latest beast picture we have on our cameras... until something changed in the detachment. I already mentioned what that was... I got mine moving 200 feet at idle with an auger across my lap, after drilling a few new holes for a guest.
  13. Sargent Murphy the signature on the ticket.... don't ask how I know. As for "not knowing" I wouldn't buy that for a minute, Hardings been out there for a long long time. Take your own auger with you.. and a shoal map for the lake. Weather permitting you'll want to get out and move around at will. Don't be depending on the outfitter to drill you anymore holes around the shack than he already has, especially with the current snow load up there. I can only imagine the jack and bank nightmare he's already been dealing with so far this year.
  14. AH... now I get it.. marked down 5 so they don't have to give you 13... kinda like a snake oil salesman..gottcha !
  15. I'm still trying to figure out what the issue is that it was a dollar cheaper than BPS.. and now it's $41 cheaper than BPS??! and he won't be there..
  16. The only way your going to insulate the walls properly Louis.. is to rip the drywall off. If it was framed well it has firestops in the walls mid way. That said... My 24 x 24 x 10 high has two walls shared with the house.. and it also has living quarters over it. All insulated.. Garaga doors... and it keeps beer rocky mountain cold but they don't freeze. I highly doubt with only one wall shared (unless you take all the insulation out of that one) that you'll keep the garage above zero in anything below -10C.
  17. read back a bit on visual adjustment and the fact woodenboater was suggesting driving with your 4 ways on. There is nothing worse, again in my opinion, than doing so. On a perfectly CLEAR day.. people hit cars with 4 ways on and police cruisers with all their lights on. Sounds like fishinautograph concurs.. and he's a cop !
  18. Good luck over there... I plow every day... and then some it seems. Who the idiot was the decided to have a 1400 foot laneway down to the concession road is beyond me and should be put down!
  19. Probably not... winds to 60K again tomorrow.. have another beer!
  20. Has nothing to do with low IQ drivers, but thanks for the smear..... low light.. your eyes adjust to that and then someone has 4 ways flashing away brightly.. it's like losing your night vision.. Been told since I was 16, by police, never turn your 4 ways on if your car dies on the side of the road as people will hit it, and 2nd your battery will be dead when you return to get it! And just watching the news.. sure enough a tractor trailer creamed an OPP cruiser that was sitting on the side of the road with it's lights on!
  21. Yep.. glad you were happy with your trip Stan! .. and you are correct, VERY few bother going out there for just whities and pickerel for some reason. Something I haven't been able to figure out, seeing you can keep 25 Whitefish and 4 walleye.....compared to only 2 lakers, but their loss. If I had more spare time I'd be on the lake every week, all winter long.
  22. Good to hear.. means you banging it flattened out the cutting angle.
  23. What worked? Shimming.. replacing...?
  24. kuha... not sure if you can check statistics on people hitting cars with their 4 ways on... but if you could you'd find that more are hit on the side of roads with them going than those without. Same deal with police cars and tow trucks with lights flashing. For some reason it seems to draw people in and mesmerize them... and they hit them! Nothing worse, as far as I'm concerned anyhow is people driving up the middle lane with their 4 ways on. Just turn your lights on and drive... if it's that bad take the next exit PLEASE!
  25. Just turn your lights on period would be a good start... as for 4 ways... they just become a beacon saying "hit me.. hit me.. hit me" and many do.
