Recently did the canoe thing on a popular river with my brother inlaw and it worked out great. We used an inflatable canoe and parked one car at the start and end of our drift. We fished from the canoe and got out and waded, rarely saw anyone on the trip.

The first step in selecting a fly reel is figuring out what you are using it for. In fly fishing the reel is not nearly as important as the rod and line. If it is for small trout and bass for example its merely a line holder and need not be expensive. If you are going after larger game fish like steelhead then the reel should ideally be large arbour to help reel in line faster and have a good drag system to help fight the fish. That reel in your picture is from Patagonia and is likely expensive

Kemper its always a problem, the fact that it is wednesday and you still found it busy is even more a alarming. You are right though the cold and the rain should hopefully drive people away. I personally can't fish in that tight quarters anymore even with basic etiquette. I'm off to Thunder Bay this weekend hopefully its less busy way up there.

Over 80K on our sentra and no issues and exception fuel economy. But I have heard repairs can be expensive thankfully its covered to 200K

Hey All, I am taking a trip up to Thunderbay after the thanksgiving weekend, my wife sister and her husband live up there. While I am there he suggested we try for some steelhead. I plan on bringing my switch rod and swinging or nymphing for steelhead. Anyone have any fly pattern recommendations for up that way?

I have had them for about 2 years and probably what I like best about them is how comfortable they are when walking. I got them at the First Cast here in Guelph.

I was able to get a good deal on a clearance for patagonia riverwalker boots with the sticky sole and has since added studs. They are a very comfortable boot for around $150. I have done the hiking boot thing and they work ok. But I do prefer my patagonia boots to the hikers I used previously.

Not nearly as much now that I have 2 young kids and a part time job on top of the full time job. My goal is to fish once a week but there have been times this year where its once a month.

I'd say the best food in the Soo is at My Nonna's place Outside of that enjoy the trip and I am sure you will find some great northern hospitality.

Go fishing if you can....I know I just came back from a 3 day fishing weekend and the first thing my wife said to me is don't expect to go fishing this coming weekend or you'll come home to the locks changed. It sounded like a Brad Paisley song, my response was well I'll take the van, at least I can fit everything I need in it The point of this rambling is unless your wife is going to lock you out of the house if you go fishing, its best to get out and get the last weekend of the season in since the deck does not care if it is done this week or next! I should add this of course is all in jest. I am not actually going fishing next weekend, and if that deck needs to be finished sooner than later, you probably should get it done.

Nice fish Bill, one of my favorite ways to fish right there. Kemper like the idea of getting a coho on a swung fly. I just finally learned spey casting on the weekend that would be an excellent use of my new skills

What about the east end of the park. Barron Canyon is a pretty neat area and not a hard place to paddle. Its certainly offers something different and will keep you interested if the fish don't cooperate. Based on all of Mike's reports, I can't imagine you could find a better guide.

Hey Guys, I planning to spend this coming weekend up in the Walkerton area fishing and wondered if Lobie's Park was a good place to set up a trailer. It looks fine enough online, we don't need anything fancy since we will be on the water all day. The only thing I wondered about was does it feel like I am staying in the middle of town. when i was a kid maybe 10 or 12. We were fishing at the mouth of the ganaraska, just bottom bouncing and i put my rod down next to me and it was a gone. Hahaha, my uncle had just warned me too. I have never made that mistake again
