  1. perfection loop is the knot you are looking for having said that, it is difficult tying heavy fluoro. i use the loop for up to 50-65lb fluoro, crimps for 130lb.
  2. you'll sweat you ballz off. those are not breathable in the least bit. i'd opt for some lightweight goretex. my opinion, with raingear (and lots of other stuff) buy the best stuff you can afford. that way you only buy it once.
  3. perhaps that works if you bought the card and a 3 year licence at the same time. if you renew yearly, they don't always get that information. they're able to confirm that yes, you have a valid card but license, not always. ask me how I know... lol.
  4. i thought i read that the fine for failing to produce is higher that the one for fishing without a license. the system is so antiquated, they can tell if you have an outdoors card but tehy cannot tell if you have a valid license.
  5. i think you should teach the class
  6. decent muskie decent laker decent walter decent pike
  7. they werent muskie rods give it a try, you will like it. i first got wind of them listening to doug johnson rave about them being a great bang for the buck. i used the 8'6" XH all last year for big rubber, casting big jakes & big spinnerbaits. worked well. that store on ronsons dr has them for less than i've seen them go for on U$ sites.
  8. i'd recommend against the bps rods. they are heavy (in weight) and IMO inferior to the okumas, st. croix triumph which are at the same price point. your mileage may vary.
  9. you compre fanboys make me giggle. besides, they are above $100. okuma has a line of musky rods in your price range - evx series. st. croix's triumph line will be right around $100 or a tad less too. says the st. croix fanboy.

where are the lake trout pics?!
  11. 7001 cranks it in just fine John. That's a bit of a prototype.. those are #16 blades. To be honest, #10 or #13 are plenty!! You can cast & retrieve that one just fine but it works good on the troll.
  12. azebra when wet the top ones probably 12oz the bottom one is 16oz -- hence it's name "the pounder".
  13. plastic? my polarized shades are glass (costa del mar)
  14. yeah JBs has them, I would think Grimsby tackle would too?
  15. i am lefthanded (writing, throwing, hockey etc) but I cast with my right and reel with left baitcast or spinning. so am i the weird one? hahah could not imagine casting with left hand. not that there's anything wrong with it.
  16. yes, most but not all. i'll add the quantum cabo - cbc30pts too.. another low profile that can handle the job but bill is right, for specialized applications like those big double bladed baits none of those will work for too long. you will need something like an abu 7000.
  17. i still don't understand what you guys mean. i "palm" my 7001 -- a full size (& then some) baitcaster. use the thumb on my right hand to thumb the spool. use two hands to cast - one (right hand) on the reel one (left hand) on the butt of the rod as a pivot. i can cast 1/2 oz lures to 16oz lures no problem. i cast as far & as accurate as my right-handed pardner. what's this pitching crap? is this a baseball forum?
  18. not sure what you mean by that garry. when I cast the reel is off to the side, with the handle pointing up (or down) depending on where in the cast I am. that would be a problem with the reels of yesteryear that had the handle that spun when you casted but they don't any longer.
  19. do what is comfortable i also reel with left.. while there are less options for us in terms of reels, there are enough if you look.
  20. i like my costa del mars. used to wear cheapo rapalas but decided to spend the $$$ and get a good pair. they do make a difference. i use the amber lense, it's a good all-round lense.
  21. no doubt he's played well and competes game in, game out, tough to see him go -- i wont argue that but, is he a number 1 or 2 defenceman? personally, i dont think so. i also dont think he's a guy to build a defense around whereas I think phaneuf can/will be. he's only 24!! i guess we will see! the leafs have enough 3,4,5,6 guys.
  22. i like phaneuf lots. only 24 and i think he'll figure into their future well. i am sure he will return to his form of a few seasons ago. for a rebuilding team, trading a bunch of 2,3,4 liners for a top 2 d-man is a good move IMO. white was a good player but will never be a top 2 dman. the others 3rd and 4th liners on any team besides the leafs.
  23. flip a coin between those two honestly, they are both excellent 'smaller' trucks. it'd probably come down to where the better deal is honestly.
  24. ice is/will be fine for all but southwestern ontario
  25. I think you are going to need to suck it up, keep your van or replace with a v8 truck. those glass boats aren't teh lightest things.
