  1. I went a couple of years back and didn't get any special vaccines and came home fine. A friend of mine went in the spring and came back with giardia (?). The Arenal Lake by the volcano has a guide on it and they have something called Sunshine Bass or something like that. Didn't see many boays out their so you might have the whole lake to yourself. www.arenalfishing.com/ Go after the Roosters, that would be a true trophy. I tried for them, but didn't hook up with any. Did see some Marlin's swimming around, which got the boat operator very excited. One of my favourite places!
  2. Tough to tell not seeing the face, but I think that's an otter.
  3. Keep your distance from those buggers. I have seen them skinned out and they have quite the muscle build up around their jaws. Yes. they are one of the few that can flip a porcupine over and kill it.
  4. Everyone's favourite friend on a lonely winter's day!
  5. At least we're all learning something useful!
  6. I think they ate some of the fish! LOL
  7. These kind of deals have been running for awhile, also on Kijiji. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Especially in Canada.
  8. I moved to the area some 26 years ago from the big smoke. Best move I ever made ( I made the decision to be right on a lake though). Yearly earnings will probably be lower, but quality of life increases. There are so many lakes within one hour of Peterborough, you will be in your glory! Now, it also depends on what part of Peterborough you live in, there are always unsavoury sections of any town. The area has been starting to get busier though.
  9. LOL This reminded me of a story one of my buddies told me. He kept getting these guys anchoring right off his dock and they would stay for extended periods of time and were loud. He finally got sick of it, strolled down to the dock, dropped his drawers and went for a chunky dunk. Needless to say, he never saw them again. This topic continues to come up on all the forums and will never be settled as long as there are brain dead anglers out their that just don't get it. Geez, maybe they just want to be your friend and don't know how to go about introducing themselves. I personally move on, while being as noisy as possible.
  10. I have an older 10" Jiffy and it seems to work fine, especially after I changed all the gears and clutch on it after I bought it used. The motor on the thing never stops.
  11. Done.
  12. I am still waiting to hear of one scenario where the gun registry actually prevented a death. I would think that it would have been all over the media if there was one. Won't be sad to see it go. Don't give them any ideas West Arm Rider!
  13. Did you try after dark. I have heard that some do well in the fall by concentrating their efforts in the evening.
  14. Those things have been on vacation all year!
  15. I have had very good luck with the Pfleugers. Don't cheap out or you will kick yourself.
  16. I'll keep my eyes and ears open. I can't believe the balls some people have???? Just disgusting!
  17. Looks like a grading issue judging by the basement photos. Water looks like it's get in at the top of the blocks.
  18. I wish I had a job like that!
  19. Yes, I could have used some of those a few weeks ago. Their mouths must be healing
  20. What was that, 60 degrees or something crazy like that? Don't you just love sight fishing from the dock :-) I have next week off, just saying.
  21. There are plenty of both, but you're best to target one or the other. We usually catch more of the largies. Lucky on that day to get so many smallies. Smallies tend to be a tougher fish to catch for me anyways. I always look for weeds when starting out for the day.
  22. Glad you were able to get away, Sunday was amazing. Too bad about the boat, but the family stuff is good. What did you think of the place? I might hit the lake once more before the end of the year.
  23. Did a bit of bass fishing over the last few days in between painting and renovating. Not great numbers, but the ones that were boated tended to be better fish. Caught on Wacky rigs and Jig and Craw. Seems to be a hit and miss. One outing would be good and the next not so good.
  24. Sweet!
  25. Find a financial backer first. The MNR says it's too expensive to raise walleye fry for them to initiate it. That's what I have heard anyways whenever the Kawarthas comes up. Hmmmm, I think they raise them in Haliburton. Simcoe would be a great walleye fishery and perfect for big walleye tournaments. It would be nice to target them in the winter.
