Great vid Pete.I remember you telling about it.I Seen you guys in action a couple times out there. We both Know how bad that lake can get.And the part of the boat just driving away is now a huge reminder to use my bail out cord.Again great vid and way to go lending your boat to make a fantastic saftey video.By the way nice roof rack on the truck . . will a 4stroke 4 horse kiker push my 17 foot aluminum boat
PERCHER replied to 12pointer's topic in General Discussion
Like the others have said If you don't have a kicker as of yet I would go bigger.I run a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust on my 17ft Lund .No bracket was needed .And works great steering in tandom with my main motor. You can even add a Troll Master so you can control the speed of the kicker anywhere in the boat.I guess the weight of the boat would make a difference as well.Lighter boat smaller motor. -
That's just AWESOME.Thats what I need is a Fishing room,maybe one day

yamaha 6hp 4-stroke vs. mecury 6hp 4- stroke.
PERCHER replied to stan_133's topic in General Discussion
I would go for the Yamaha. My main motor is a Merc Opti and I wouldnt change it for the world. But when it came to a kicker 4 stroke I went Yamaha. If you are looking at 6hp why not check out the 8hp High Thrust.Great motors for the price difference.I have 9.9 High Thrust and that thing will push 4 foot waves at an idle. Just my 2 cents Dan -
That is a used camp motor.

No auto pilot on that model. But thats what I use my Terrova for.
-
Yes I think your right on the bracket Brian. The one that came with my kit looked to be for an older model Yamaha. But with some time spent bending to change the angle so the cowl would fit it was a go.Other than that it's pretty simple to install. Dan

I have the ICE55 and all I can say as I owned a Vex before is the Bird ROCKS.

I drive a 2004 Ford Explorer and like wayne I have the 4.6l v8.That little motor has more than enough towing power. The truck came rigged with a tow package and it will pull 6,800lbs.It's also as good on gas as some of the v6's out there.Plus those motors are almost bullet proof. Dan

I guess I am doomed ,I dont drink. Now what am I to do ?Maybe I will just quit my work and go fishing every day.Nope that just might lead to a divorce court. Dan

I was a little bored today so I decided to install my Troll Master.I ended up with this after talking to Slowpoke(Brian) and Fishindevil(Shawn) this fall.At the time they were a little expensive. So I had almost given up the plan when I received an email from Brain showing that Cabelas had them on for half price. They were all sold out except for the one that fits a Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust.Well luck was on my side because that's what my kicker is. So off to the grat outdoors to remove my kicker from the boat and bring it down to the work room. The install took about an hour and a half.It all fit great except for the motor bracket .But after a few fancy bends it was complete. With this I wont have to keep running to the back of the boat to adjust my speed and I will be able to return to the speed that was catching fish after going to an idle with just a press of the button. Anybody else run one of these.I would be interested in your opinions. Now all I have to do is wait for spring. Dan

Nice work Brian. What do think maybe some salmon trolling flies ?
-
RangerGuy I have that motor on the bow of my 17ft Lund and it rocks.Easy to deploy lots of power and the auto pilot is a trollers dream.Just run your kicker locked in place and set the Terrova to auto pilot and you have hands free steering.Great for setting up lines when you are out fishiing salmon solo. The auto pilot will give you total boat controll for trolling.I used mine at Quinte this fall for walleye in 3ft chop and it never lost its course. It was a big part in catching as many eyes as we did.Ask FISHINDEVIL he was in the boat 5 minutes and it cost him 1,200.00 because he had to have one. I also have the Storm model.I bought it from Wally Mart for 29.99.It works fantastic.Cleans every thing from Salmon to Perch.

All right a fellow Harley owner.I cant give you any suggestions on shipping but when you do get it back we will have to do a few cruises. Dan

Carole that was a great post.I find Family history so intresting. It must have taken a lot of time and research to find all that information.Way to go that is something to be really proud of. Dan

Thanks to that book we hooked many of eyes on Quinte this fall and on Erie as well. It's a must have for trollers. Dan

From what I have been told about trolling is that total boat controll is pivotal.
