  1. I would check with an accountant but as far as I know barter is legal in Canada. There may be some paper work to do, but you should not pay taxes, maybe only a title transfer fee. I did a little digging and as long as what you are bartering is not something that would regularly earn you income than you should be ok...so as long as you are not a used car or boat salesman you should be tax free. I bough my last car new from Quebec and when I went to register it I was not asked to pay provincial sales tax on it, so it is possible to register a vehicle without paying taxes.
  2. In my opinion when you are gong higher end stuff (over 100$) you need to think about servicing and replacement and service. I would look at shimano reels, and think about the stradic fj for a little more. The reel will last you a long time, and if you even need parts for it you can easily find them. Especially living in the GTA you can make a run to shimano in Peterborough and get your stuff serviced. All the other companies to me seem like faceless organizations in comparison.
  3. I've gotten walleye on both a jitterbug and a top raider.
  4. Some nice fish in that report. Your ability to fill in the blanks before the real fishing season starts is impressive.
  5. My favourite blades to fish in shallow water. I wish I had an excuse to buy more.
  6. He is used to it,,,lots of practice with me I wish, I am usually the net man with John. It's about times the tables turned.
  7. I bet you see a lot of beavers though
  8. Was driving on the Gardiner today and noticed that the channel between the city and the islands was pretty much frozen across. That is the first time I have seen that much ice.
  9. I don't know how I missed this. Great post.
  10. Some nice fish...and some scary ice there.
  11. I've got to agree with the other sentiments shared. It seems like an improvement to me, as a person is no longer required to carry their birth certificate as proof of age. It would also make it easier for people who are not born in Canada to prove their age.
  12. Making claims that evolutionary theory is flawed and believing in creationism are two different things. One is asking questions based on the scientific method, the other is denying scientific theory for a leap of faith. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with faith, only with people who use faith as a reason to deny logical reasoning.
  13. I have an curado 51 that I spooled up with fuoro one time. Cast it a few times with an ultra light jig, then got a wicked bad backlash. Tried for a few minutes to get it out and gave up. Cut the line, ties the lure to my spinning rod and started fishing again. That was the first and last time I used the reel. Anyone want to buy a used curado with a wicked bird's nest of fluoro on it. It is still in my garage.
  14. Just sell me your LT's and buy new ones in Chicago. It will be cheaper than shipping.
  15. If you are only going to have one rod get a LT sling blade. It casts like a dream and is a god trolling rod as well. The Volatile is an ok Rod, I was at Basspro the other day and picked one up. It felt like a compre. By the start of this year St Croix and Loomis should b releasing new rods, so some people might be getting rid of their older LT's. If I was going with a lower end rod it would get a Tackle Industries rod. It really depends on how much you fish and how long you fish in a day. If you plan on spending a full day casting, or you get out a lot it is worth it to buy the good gear, because something will break down, and when it does having a good warranty is worth it. I went to an LT last year, and now I have 3 of them. They are great rods.
  16. The Three year card is the way to go. Only problem is that I have to remember to renew it in 3 years..advantage is I don't have to wait every year for a card that takes months to arrive, if it even arrives at all.
  17. No pics yet. Love it or hate it, the musky industry is all about promotion.
  18. We tried it all today..I even slow rolled blades at the end of the day. We toughed it out, and may have been able to go a bit longer if not for a leakage issue on John's part, but ended up with a skunk.
  19. I have one...where are you located?
  20. Whatever you are doing tomorrow I'm going to do the complete opposite...maybe I'll try burning blades.
  21. My advice would be to give it up before you get obsessed and spend all your money.
  22. Wow, what a beast. Congrats.
  23. If you are in the Kawartha's just drop in to the shimano factory in Peterborough
  24. Great fish. Thanks for sharing.
