I know where your musky lives, and may not chase her Sunday, unless it seems like there is a hot bite.
-
I'm heading out to Pigeon as well on Sunday. Hopefully will find some fish.

First 2014 carp report! Family fishing fun on the dock
Gregoire replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
Well done Pete. I went up to the cottage on the May 24 weekend and tried for carp a bit, but was skunked. -
I would net them and freeze them for salmon fishing.
-
I would try a large twitch bait, like a perch coloured x-rap. My go to spring pike lure.
-
Palomar knot should work with 40#, just wet the line and pull it tight.

Hi All, I was reading the "I get not respect" thread, and am struggling as well with finding contractors in Toronto to do work on a house that I recently bought. I figured I would post here as every person that I have met and dealt with from OFC has been an upstanding individual. I am looking to have a few things done: Repairs to the wooden exterior of my house. Some of the boards are rotted and need replacing. In addition, the eave troughs and awnings needs to be replaced or fixed. Reno's to the garage, I would like to replace the 2 single doors with a double door and open up the interior. There is currently a beam running down the middle of the garage, so a beam will need to be put in to reinforce the roof. A window in the basement is rotted, and needs to be replaced. I would like a window well and an easement installed. Parging needs to be done to the cement exterior. I will also need the exterior of the house repainted. Windows on the main floor either need the counter weights fixed, or need a retro-fit. If there is money left over in the budget I would also like to get stairs installed from the second floor deck to the backyard. I also own a property in the west end, just off of Roncesvales, that needs a new roof and new stairs installed. That is all I can think of right now. There are probably a few other jobs to do. I am sure that I have enough work to keep an industrious individual busy for at least month or two. There is another house off of Roncesvalles that my fiancee partially owns, and generally needs some work done on it a few times a year, so the potential is there for fairly regular work. If you are interested in doing this work, or know someone who does work like this please shoot me a PM Greg AKA Roaring Dan Seavey

I'll give a vote to St Croix. Their Legend Tournament Rods are the best musky rods I have used, I have an Okuma EVX and it is a horrible rod compared to the LT Big Nasty. Cowanjo and I just got two new Sling Blades due to warranty issues. There may be better musky rods out there, but not at that price point or with the same warranty.

Wow, great shots and great post. Love half above, half below water shots. -
Putting together a Musky box, what lures?
Gregoire replied to Maverick's topic in General Discussion
I initially thought Hawg Wabbler as well, and would not be in a huge rush to spray it (although I love black lures).Try it during light changes or dusk and dawn early in the season and work it slow. On a slow day try trolling with the sledges. -
If you open the web app and switch up to Hybrid a search window comes up. I just looked at a map of Pigeon lake, and there is definitely not as much detail as the gold and platinum maps.

Putting together a Musky box, what lures?
Gregoire replied to Maverick's topic in General Discussion
I've never really used the jailbird pattern, but have a few jailbird lures, always thought it was cool looking. I'll run them a bit more this year, maybe even remove the rattles from a jailbird believer I have. I tossed spinnerbaits last year a bit more and landed a pb....walleye. I doubt anyone had ever been more pissed to hook a 32" walter. I'll have to keep throwing them this year...the black and orange has been an effective lure for me. Instead of suiks I throw hose jerks now...I can get the action I want from them without having to go through the pain of tuning them like you do a suik. Some days the fish just want rubber, a black and orange dawg is a good bait, but I prefer tubes. A more versatile bait that can be fished different ways depending on how it is rigged. I have a legend perchbait in natural perch that has gotten me a few fish in the past. A bit on the expensive side, until you get into custom baits, and it will seem cheap. I also like the chrome shallow raiders and flash jakes or grandma's in perch. One other bait that I have had luck with is the dadson vortex double ten in the hideout walleye pattern with the marabou, not flashabou. Some people like to fish side to side gliders, and have luck with them, but I have never gotten a fish on one. I think Jim Saric had some luck two years ago with a black head gold flash body phantom a few years ago. That would be a good option as well. Restricting yourself to 10 baits is really a practice in futility if you catch the Musky Bug. I have been cleaning out my garage lately, and have counted around 200 baits so far, and am still finding lures in nooks and crannies. The funny thing is that all the baits I use are in cowajo's garage at his cottage. I think this year I will do a full inventory and sell off the ones that I do not use. -
A Whale for the Killing was a book that I read in High School. It really opened up my eyes to just how cruel humans can be, and motivated me to be a better person and actually care about the environment that I live in. RIP Mr. Mowat

I fish with a friend out of the Cathedral Bluffs Yacht club and looked in to storage yesterday. At $80 a month it seems like an option. I also did some digging and found a model of boat that would fit in my garage. The Legend AllSport: http://legendboats.com/boat/allsport/ I've read mixed reviews of the Legend. I also will want to use the boat for some big water applications, Lake St. Clair, Georgian bay, and the St Lawrence/beginning of the thousand islands, where it will be kept and used for most of the summer. Not sure if the applications of the boat will necessitated a larger size. The only reason why I want to store in my garage is so that I can grab the boat and run to a spot that I feel like fishing. I have the summers off, so I would like the freedom to choose my fishing destination, and not have to factor in the time needed to pick up. I mostly fish for Musky, but seeing as I live in the city, I would also like to have the ability to go out Salmon fishing for the afternoon as well.

The Reata is my long term goal. If fished from it before and really like it.

I recently moved Pete. New house in Leslieville, with a 2 car garage. When I got home tonight I did the measurements, and the garage is only 18ft deep, so if I want to store the car in the garage I think even 15ft would be pushing it.
-
Storing the boat in my garage may be a dream, as I would have to go through a laneway. Anyone have any experience storing in a laneway? I guess I could also look at storing it at a local marina.
-
I love the Rangers and Lunds, and have been looking at 19ft boats but due to the fact that I want to be able to store it in my garage in Leslieville, and that I will probably only be able to tow a max of 3500 ponds I am thinking that a 15 or 16ft Aluminum is the biggest I can go. As far as price goes I am in negotiations with my new house and my future wife about how much I can spend on my future boat. Thanks for all the answers so far.

I'm looking at getting a boat and need to decide if I go with a fish n ski or just a fishing boat. My mother in law wants to start water skiing again, and seems willing to chip in a bit for the purchase. Which would you choose and why. I will be using the boat to fish out of most of the time, but will be used recreationally as well. The cottage is on an island, so would be used to ferry back and forth pretty big water.

John was a bit cheeky with these two, claiming that they were paying him an early season visit, and that he would see them later in the year.
-
John sent me the photo of this happy pair that he came across at the cottage this weekend. I am happy to see them coupling, Hopefully the water will warm so that the spawn can begin.

Little Cleo - Do They Still Make Em Like This ?
Gregoire replied to Afraz's topic in General Discussion
Nothing like a little side boob action. -
Try finding parts for a pure fishing product, that means abu, pfleuger and a few other reels. As far as I know they closed their Canadian customer service center. About 5 years ago I had a problem with an abu baitcaster. I managed to get a hold of someone and the problem was fixed. 2 years ago I broke the handle on a pflueger patriarch spinning reel. It was my fault and I tried to contact the manufacturer to get a new part. I could not get in touch with anyone. I like the fact that I can phone shimano in Canada and talk to them. The same thing with rapala. The ability to get in direct contact with the manufacturer and drive to a service center if need be is huge bonus to me.

It was a pretty recent transaction. My point was that you are not always asked to pay taxes when registering a vehicle.

You already made your point. For some people over $100 is higher end, for some people it is $500+.
