Smokercraft Ultima 172 or Princecraft 172 WS?
Lunkerhunter replied to Bigfisherman's topic in General Discussion
i bought a new princecraft xpedition 170 side console last year and absolutely love the boat. i have 115 merc 4 stroke on it and when im alone in the boat i can do about 46-48 mph. with 2 guys and fully loaded about 42-44 mph. very dry ride, the hull design on the xpedition really pushes the water out to the sides and it handles some pretty big water very well. I fish on lake ontario for salmon through july and august and it handles it very well. overall i have been very impressed with princecraft in there design and i will checking them out again when it comes time for a new boat. i would also check out the alumacraft line up of boats as well as they seem to be making some headway in the market and i checked out there boats at the spring fishing and boat show and i have to say i liked what i saw. -
thanks for the info Mike, T- Bone - i will be sure to post on kipawa.net for further information regarding the camp. thank you

one last question...do you think i could bring my own boat into this lodge? i have a 17 ft princecraft xpedition with a 115 on it.... any issues with the boat launch or navigating around the lake (rocks haha)

hey T-Bone, the guys i am going with went to kipawa last year and wanted to try something different this year. this lodge was suggested by one of there buddies etc etc. thanks for the info kipawa jim. appreciate it. we are looking forward to the trip this year. looking like it will be for first week of June. i would imagine the northerns will still be pretty shallow in the weedy bays? any suggestions for the lakers? apparently there is a good laker lake just north of Sesseginega that we would have access too. i would think they would be pretty shallow as well that time of year. also i noticed we cant use live minnows on these lakes, are worms and leeches good enough for the walleye? worth bringing any salted minnows or similar? feel free to pm if you would prefer. cheers and thanks again

A few friends and I are looking to head to quebec for a fishing trip this summer and i was hoping to get some information or feedback from everyone on a place we are currently looking at. It is called Bush Country Camp and it is situated on an island inside the Kipawa Reserve on Lac Sasseginega. has anyone been to this camp before? what about the area? any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

i have had 3 mounts done by advanced. 2 of the 3 are complete and look amazing. currently waiting for my 55 inch muskie to be completed and cant wait to see the final product. i also have to agree that the showroom is pretty awesome!

i personally dont watch his show anymore. i find most of his shows, even if i havent seen them before feel like repeats to me...haha i end up saying to myself, have i seen this episode before? always seems to be doing the same thing. as far as the infisherman tv show goes, it is still playing on wildTV and i find it to be very good. same format as before with multiple species/locations in one show there is a new show on wildTV called Uncut Angling, so far i have really enjoyed the episodes that have aired to date. many different species and some big fish in most of the shows.

the cop deserves to get whats coming to him.... scares the living crap out of me to be honest, to think this could happen to anyone. what really bugs me as well is the security guards... you think they would have maybe said something to someone in regards to this incident... they are just as much to blame as the officer. they held the guy down as the cop beat the hell out of the citizen. im surprised they have not been dragged into this yet more than they have

powerpro ice braid or sufix ice braid with a flouro leader of course. on my tip ups i use heavy mono with a smaller diameter leader

every year i usually go on 3-4 week long fishing trips to many of the our wonderful lodges across ontario. i have never been and most likely will never go to nipissing for any of my trips for many of the reasons that are being discussed here. I know the lake has an abundance of other species that are not walleye but it just seems like its getting worse and worse as a whole. i drive right by it and even fish some of its surrounding lakes with much success but i just dont see myself booking a week trip to a lodge on nippissing. i have to agree lowering the walleye limit to 2 dink fish cannot help tourism and bringing people from out of province/country to the lake. that said a majority of the guests at the lodges i have stayed at across ontario are from the states and very few canadians actually spend money and stay at the lodges that we have right here in our province. its pretty sad really when you go on a lodges website that is based in canada and the prices are in american dollars as thats 90% of there customers. im sure glad there are as many lakes in this country as there are. makes it easy to "skip" over the ones like nipissing. sorry to say it but its true good thread TJ. should make for an interesting read cheers

Northern Ontario Ice fishing adventure
Lunkerhunter replied to Lunkerhunter's topic in General Discussion
Hey guys. I have a sled and portable and Truck to tow it all. Haha. I have done temagami, I was looking for something different then that. @moosebunk would you have any suggestions in Quebec? That may be a good little adventure. Any ideas welcome. Feel free to pm if you would like. Thanks for the suggestion bfw I will look into that. -
Hey everyone. Looking to go north this winter for an ice fishing trip. Preferably a lodge with huts that I could also bring my sled up to. Distance doesn't really matter, I am located in port perry. Fish species... probably prefer lakers, pike or walleye or combination of any of those 3. Not completely set on that just looking for something new and fun with lots of fish. I would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks

you should tell your wife she is lucky its only for saturday morning. mine is lucky to see me over the weekend. lol and several evenings throughout the week. haha

hahahahaha yes you will pete. i am looking forward to that trip already. and didnt we talk about what we would do if we caught a 49.5 on the way up to lotw last year? how we wouldnt be able to call it a 50 unless that nose actually crossed the 5-0 line on the measure... turns out we both bagged a 49.5 after the trip... pretty funny if you think about it. awesome report and glad you were able to land that fish. you deserved it brother. cheers

just purchased the guidewear... anyone know if the taxes and duty that i was charged cover all the costs? will i be billed again from fedex or whoever ships the package?

to help keep my lures organized when out fishing i cut out a bunch of spots on a bucket so i can just put the lures back in easily and still be able to keep them handy. also a good way to store bulldawgs and other lures like them i have another bucket i put on my casting deck that i drop any lures into after using them so they can dry out and also remain available should i want to use one again that day.
-
another tip is keep your boat ORGANIZED!! i learned this one the hard way.... i was up on lake of the woods and had 10-15 lures out of the boxes and laying on the front of my casting deck. many were hung up on the front of it etc and several directly on the deck. after landing a 55 inch muskie my adrenaline was through the roof. i shuffled all the lures off to the side so i could give myself room to hold the fish and release it etc. when i went to pick up the fish i kneeled down on a 9" shallow raider and a treble went past the barb and i also got a magnum bulldawg stuck in my shin... thankfully i was able to rip both hooks out as i stoked from catching my PB muskie but all of that could have been avoided if i put my lures away after using them

i have been watching there youtube videos for a while. especially love the lotw muskie stuff. i will definetely be watching it and glad to see something new on the scene.
