A couple of years ago at the BPS spring sale I picked up a Johnny Morris Gold signature reel for half price 80 bucks if memory serves and it is a great reel, I have a handful of reels that I paid 2-3 times more but the Morris is in my hands more often than not. If you can find one at that price you will not be disappointed! As far as rods go since you said two piece and again if you can find one try a Shimano Bob Izumi signature(blue one) a super rod for the money!

For me its hard to feel sorry for either side,after the last lock out the cap was 32 million or so now it is 75 or so million seems like a pretty decent wage increase, how many here have had their wage increase 130 plus percent? Took the optimax into Leatherdale marine for a diagnosis and it was just plugs! The mechanic asked me if I had the plugs out I said no, he told me all 3 plugs were loose one almost completely out. Some jerk must have tampered with the motor! Anyways all fixed and running like new again!

Well looks like a trip to a marine mechanic is in order! Anybody know a good mechanic in the Orillia area, I know Leatherdale is just down the road from me but don`t know much about them!

had the boat out today and my 2008 Optimax started stalling at idle and while in gear at low RPM`s It starts fine and runs perfect at speed. First thing I thought was plugs and they are the original plugs in it, any suggestions? Thanks

I don`t think you can go wrong with Shimano, I have several Shimano rods including a few Compre`s with no complaints. Great customer service from Shimano is a bonus!

Absoulutely the crappie is the reason for the Walleye issue I have been saying this for years imho ice fishing has little to do with the decline in Walleye population. I used to have a place at Goreski`s and never had a problem catching eye`s. Get rid of the Crappie and it will be a great fishery again.

My fibre Stratos tows a whole easier that my Alumacraft every did!

For what its worth I did a little research on boat trader and yes there are good deals to be had in the states but in my case there is no way you get my boat with a 75 OPTI for 12.5K in the States, most come with the standard 50 hp smoker for that price!!! Thanks for the plug Landry!
